I still don't get the "lazy" complaints. Copying the original designs beat for beat would be the real lazy option. And seriously, this looks just like Alpha, minus, again, the stylistic changes made to fit into the aesthetic this universe is going for. It has the same colors, same iconic head designs (plus eyestalks anyways). Just the proportions are a bit different, and it's got the sleeker, more alien like design to it.

A predominately red and bronze robot with a flying saucer shaped head.

More than reusing the technicolor spandex and cardboard boxes we had in the 90's.

It's a sad day when both a movie from 20 years ago and a guy on the internet actually put more effort and creativity into a design then a big budget movie in 2017. Last edited by Yellow Ranger; 11-30-2016 at 10:11 PM.. |

Oh, they look just like the designs from the show, how lazy of them to not try and come up with something more original.

Anyways, uh, yeaaaaah this is a really weird design, kinda reminds me of a Doctor Who alien than Alpha. Still not as bad as that robot from Megaforce though. Last edited by dexilay; 11-30-2016 at 10:43 PM.. |

The design for this looks alright. I've enjoyed most of what I've seen from this movie so far and this might take some getting used to. I can see it being a fun character in the movie.

The big problem is that the level of deviation is not in sync with the level of appropriation expected and needed.
And the whole "it is to match the taste of the majority so that we may acquire more" rubbish is just... rubbish. Personally so far I only like the red ranger suit since it somewhat resembles the red ranger and the megazord I am okay with despite looking like a rejected final form of Ryukendo and I feel it does not belong. The other suits? The motifs are not so distinct and hardly resemble what they should be and rather look like four different kinds of mutant stingrays. And now Alpha appears looking like a flatheaded snail with no shell.
