Really excited that Dino Thunder is getting its time to shine, but... Yeah, that visor just looks bad. My hope is they can fix it before release, maybe even before Hasbro formally reveals it, but even if they don't, I could just have the Trent head on it full-time.

Problem is, this is a release copy, from the sound of things. Unless they were to fix it in one market and not another, which would be pretty unusual, this is what you get. It's pretty unfortunate.

Ugh...yeah Hasbro done goofed on that visor big time. And that's disappointing because it IS one of the best suits in the entire franchise.
The thing with MMPR Red's helmet is that the sculpt was at least there, and a little bit of silver paint could fix it. It also still looked GOOD despite the inaccuracies. But this helmet doesn't even look like Trent would be able to see out of it. I seriously don't understand how Hasbro looked at this and thought it looked good enough for release. I'm hoping Hasbro maybe does a second run with a better helmet. But I'm thinking we'll need to rely on 3rd party customizers to get a better version. What a shame. This could have been one of the best Lightning Collection releases to date.

Maybe this will end up like Psycho Blue, and go on clearance. Because I'll feel bad about messing up sharpy-ing a £20 figure, but a £7 figure? Eh, not as bad.

Lets play Hasbro Fact or Fiction
Visors for MMPR Red have silver in the render but not the final product. The handle of the sword lacks the gold diamonds which we did get for the final product. Time Force Red, wider strip on the torso and this weird crooked thing at the collar. Skinny strip and not collar issue for FP. More paint on the chronomopher for the render. SPD Red - Silver hands but white for the FP. DS Black - The power axe was fully painted for the final product. The render is missing the silver mammoth. Magna Defender there are silver stripes on the groin missing from the FP. The FP though has the gold chin plate that is missing from the render. LG Red - The diagonal patterns on the gloves and legs are more numerous then the final product. FS Green - Technically this render is supposed to be accurate to the FP. The FP though isn't that gold or has that metallic sheen allowing the green of the body to reflect off of it. The paint app for the symbols on the center diamond on nearly every if not all figures is offset in some way for people. Oh and the coin on the morpher is also offset. It's like someone body slapped FS Green. If anyone actually has a perfect figure I want to see it. I think that thing is one of kind. Shadow Ranger - Render has red cuffs and silver colored parts that not painted/reduced on the final product. These parts should also be gold. MMPR Blue - Has a neck and the diamond in skinny. It is wide for the final product and Billy has no neck. MMPR Pink - The renders neck is not white. FP has a painted neck. Ranger Slayer - Render has painted hands and pink paneling on the boots that is missing from the final product. MMPR Yellow - Render is missing the red circle from the morpher. There for the FP. DC Gold - Sadly accurate except the gold mismatch is very clear on the figure and certainly not the gold of this render. Golder - I'm happy with my figure but that gold is not the one for the real figure. Drakkon - The renders shield has texture that is not present on the final figure. The red of the FP is less vibrant but that's being a tad picky. In the end these are misleading whether they were corrected or paint apps removed. In some situations you couldn't see the figure until after you opened the box. In the case of MMPR Blue even the real product pics Hasbro has on their website are inaccurate as they have the skinny diamond. This goes beyond being a new product line. Hasbro should know to get a render that matches the final product. That's the great thing about a render they can easily go into the file and fix it. Nothing should be printed until everyone has signed off. So there is clearly a manager not doing their job unless the artist have absolutely no oversight. Even if the model is totally wrong it should represent what Hasbro is putting out. |

Seriously, next time someone gets to interview the Hasbro Power Rangers team, they need to bring up these issues.
I can forgive some slight inaccuracies like maybe the wrong shade of a particular color or a tiny dot of paint detailing missing, but when the issues are not only blatant and easily correctable, but also their own promo images on the back of the box show what the figure SHOULD look like, it's very frustrating.

Since today is one of my few days off, I finally got some time to take out and play around with my Ranger Slayer figure that arrived in the mail recently.
Happy to say mine doesn't appear to have any QC issues, but I CAN see why some people are complaining. Due to the stuff she has as well as the new swivel at the top of the ankle joint, finding her center of balance is weird. That said, once you find it, she seems solid. I've had her standing on my desk for a few hours now and she hasn't tumbled as of yet. I also like the little bits of sculpted detail on her legs, though it's a shame they didn't paint the pink lining on her boots. But I have a pink Gundam marker for that. Which, by the way, her pink is alot more accurate than MMPR Pink's' is, thankfully. I think they might also be starting to listen to fans complaining that these figures have no neck, because you can pull up on her helmet and give her a bit of extended ranger way easier than any of the other LC figures I have. It's not a super huge amount of extra range, mind you, but it helps. Last, while the armor bits on her arms do help hide it, it doesn't change the fact that she still has the twig arms that the other female Rangers in the line have. Really hoping they change that in the near future. Overall though I think she's very worth the $22 and I'm happy to have her.
