I was rewatching Dairanger and I just finished Kujaku's arc, and that made me think that Daigo, through his interactions with Kujaku, had one of the best character arcs for someone who's not the red warrior.
So that got me thinking who else had good character arcs. And while there have been standouts such as Gai Yuki, Burai and Time Pink (Yuri?) I thought that Daigo stood out more since his Arc didn't depend on his relationship with his Red unlike the others. So how about you guys? Who did you think had the best character arc?

From what I've seen I loved Souji's character arc from Kyoryuger (My user name for a reason) lol. Shouji and Daigo had great stories same with Kou in Dairanger. I loved All of the characters stories in GaoRanger. Tokatti in ToQGer was great.

I just really loved what they did with Ryunosuke in Shinkenger, especially that Kabuki episode near the end. The contrast of his seriousness about the Samurai's duties vs. his passion for Kabuki were pretty remarkable.
Don from Gokaiger had some pretty neat development too, especially his relationship with Gai. |

I love Rio's arc in Gekiranger. Going from "Power power power" to a legitimate character into a hero is awesome to watch~

The guy who instantly jumps out to me is Starninger, from the shows I've seen anyway. There are characters with more subtle arcs that I love too, but seeing Kinji go from a slightly aloof outsider with all sorts of pent-up angst to a fully fledged member of the family with way more self-confidence is one of the big highlights of Ninninger to me. You can tell because I've been going on about him for over a month now.

I think villains often have the best character arcs in Sentai.
Maria, Radiguet, Tran(za), & Grey from Jetman Akomaru & Jin Matoba from Dairanger Zonette from Carranger Wolzard from Magiranger Rio & Mele from Gekiranger Juzou & Daiyu from Shinkenger Brajira from Goseiger Basco from Gokaiger Enter & Escape from Go-Buster Gritta, Zed, & Schwartz from ToQger Kyuemon from Ninninger All of these characters go through fascinating, unexpected arcs that are arguably the best parts of their respective series. I think villains are allowed to go through bigger, bolder changes because there's no worry about whether they're perceived as heroic or likable enough. The best villains also tend to deal with more complex & "grown up" concerns like redemption, honor, love, duty, betrayal, and whatnot... so the emotional stakes are often higher and more nuanced. Man, I love a good Super Sentai villain arc... It's really hard for a show to break into my favs list without at least one great villain story. Daigo and Kujaku was the arc that instantly leapt to mind when I saw this thread title.

Okay I will always hold this as truth. Feel free to disagree but for me the best character arc in Sentai hands down is Gai Ikari. When we first see him he's trying desperately to fit in with the other Gokaigers but instead of being one with the team he's just getting in the way and coming off as show off before getting his ass handed to him. However, as he continues to travel with the others he comes into his own and at the end of the series we don't see that hyper little kid anymore but a fully fledged hero, even going so far as to carry with him the Gokaiger flag into battle. I also love how as he grows into his own his hair gets longer, just a bit of visual story telling that I just love.

Chiaki/Shinken Green's growth overall was fun to follow as he goes from slacker to determined after setting Takeru as his inspiration/rival, a real nice touch considering green contrasts red like how Chiaki contrasts Takeru/Shinken Red.
Others that I like are Go/Dr. Obler's story in Liveman, Ikkou/Kabutoraiger's struggle with Manmaruba in Hurricanger, Asuka/Abare Black, and Naoto/Time Fire.

I honestly didn't think anyone would choose anybody from Kyoryuger for this thread, since Kyoryuger really felt more like a KR series than Sentai with how much they were pushing Daigo in the forefront. Though I would agree that Souji probably had the most growth out of the rest of the team.
