The KyuRangers are searching for the Vela KyuTama, needed to power the legendary ARGO. Hammy learns that Vela was once hidden on an ocean planet, but the world they must search has been trashed by the Jark Matter...

A very notable guest actor for any RX fans out there to note in this episode. The old elder was played by Minoru Sawatari who played Hayato Hayamizu, the detective who is suspicious of Kotaro. He was also in GogoV, Magiranger, Shushutorian(that magical girl tokusatsu show where Ninja White was one of the leads), and Ultraman Tiga.

A much needed Hammy episode and I'm glad we actually got to see her backstory instead of just her talking about it. We're also on another planet this time, hopefully there's more of that (I'm guessing that line in an earlier episode about the Argo Kyutamas being on Earth was a mistranslation). I also noticed a couple of, maybe intentional, maybe unintentional hints for future stories in this episode, like Scorpio having ulterior motives or Naga suddenly joining the cult. Also we finally got to hear Kyurenoh's theme, that took a lot longer than usual. Overall, nice episode.

...And we're right back on track after last week's trip into madness. Seriously, who let Kento Shimoyama write a script for this show?
Pretty enjoyable episode, but ultimately average for Kyuranger. It was great to see Hammy get some real, genuine attention finally, and Lucky seems to be butting into episodes less and less lately, which helps. The little bits of Champ and Stinger were nice too, even if they felt inserted somewhat awkwardly. Not sure what's up with Naga though. Given this show's writing, I wouldn't be surprised if his behavior here turns out to mean something, but then, maybe this is just what happens when Balance isn't around to, erm, balance things out? Also, I'd just like to take a second to appreciate how much Kyuranger tries to keep the action fresh. This might seem like a minor point but think about how often we see Kyuren-Oh's back. It really feels like more effort is being put in than usual with the camerawork. I just checked and yeah, it was. Raptor only said the first one was on Earth.

I'm kinda annoyed. If this planet didn't have any fancy shmancy editting or something to look like a different planet, they could have just done that for loads kf different planets

Well, I'm happy that all three Argos Kyutama being on Earth was a mistranslation, that would've been really stupid.
I am however a bit sad that the planetary traveling is only so rarely done when all we really need is just a transition and then a location change like this. I would've brought Earth into play much later personally. The episode itself was okay, mostly due to Lucky not pushing himself into the background again. I still can't get myself to care much about Hammy and I don't feel like that little bit of development accomplished anything for her as a character either, but at least the episode was okay. Fish Sandwich raises a good question though, what is up with Naga in this one? He can't show emotions but he's not incredibly dumb like that. You could argue he used his complete lack of emotions to outplay both the villagers and his teammates, but his straight up dumb comments make me doubt that. And if Kyuranger taught me anything it's that stupid characters in this show really are stupid, see Commander John Longbow. Anyways, this was watchable and I enjoyed some of it (mostly the crazy beach fantasies at the beginning, we really need more screentime for Raptor) and the short parts with Stinger & Champ interested me the most, the Scorpio arc promises to be at least somewhat cool. And I will definitely watch it because Yuki Kubota is just so damn awesome. Last edited by Kiwami; 05-23-2017 at 02:28 AM.. |

Yeah, what was the deal with Naga? Were cults a thing on his planet and he felt familiarity with the villagers or something?
Anyho, yeah, a Hammy episode and for a second I thought I was watching Ninninger again...! |

Hammy walked straight out of Ninninger, didn't she?
Episode itself is ok which speaks marvels considering that this is Kyuuranger we are talking about. For some reason, the villain seemed really dumb to me although it might be because his plan to fool the villagers was good but he himself went down without much of a fight. And what's up with Naga? I thought that he was emotionless, not brainless. |

I liked the Naga bit. It got a chuckle out of me.

This episode was ok, nothing to hate but also nothing to really like either. Only good parts for me were the scenes with Scorpio because I love his design otherwise this episode was bland.
For those questioning Naga's actions in this episode its pretty obvious. The villagers were pretty emotionless like Naga's planet. So it would feel like the vilagers were his people. Or I was just so bored that I didn't notice anything special. |
