Nice parallel between the two factions during the episode with Izu and Horobi being in a similar situation.
izu stabbing scene feels a bit forced indeed. And it makes the scene off. But it is counterbalanced with Jin's pov of the same scene which is really great. It's the peak of his evolution as a humagear with human(/kid) feelings. But I still hope that MJ.net logic gets adressed at some point though. I think Yua mentions it during the ep that the way they think is nonsense. Ark's will seems to be "Humans need to be extinct because they will extinct others" => okay but aren't you the same then ? last thing I wanna mention : the vice pres. It's starting to be boring now. At first his gimmick was funny and all. But now him jumping on every occasion to impeach Aruto is annoying and despicable especially in such a situation. He was Korenosuke vice president too. Humagears should not be merely machines to him as well. He probably loves more the company than humagears themselves and that's why he is like this, but still. |

This look like another hype and build up episode and kind of underwhelming especially With the how useless and wasted the aims foot soldier are. Horobi just sarcrificed himself like that. and jin might be just out like that until who know when after at thouser's debut. I'm curious if the arc/zea are sentient beings as well like man made "gods" or just a program/symbol that create tools/toys like gaoranger villains. We got three Ai awakening this week. I guess the trio will play bigger role in the future. I don't think kr ikuzaki is done yet judging from actor appearing on fuwa's actor youtube channel. Thre might be a 4th member hidden by the arc.

Another good episode as per usual.
Now the question of why Izu got near Jin: maybe she was trying to confirm Horobi has been defeated? Shinning Assault Hopper looks good but of course it was another tease. And it looks like MJ.net will be supplanted by ZAIA as the antagonist in the next phase of the show.

If Horobi and Jin are really taken out, who are Falcon and Scorpion riders then?
So no, they'll be back somehow. |

good episode.
If Izu acted 'out of character', remember it looks like she had a singularity event in the first couple minutes. Eyes flashed blue and she had the epiphany about family. Zero-One's upgrade form looks awesome. |

This episode is a little too breakneck fast for its own good, I think. The bizarre choice in how Izu gets wounded here is probably in part due simply to sloppy direction, though. I can imagine that scene was written with the intent that it be immediately clear all these characters were in the same place, and at some point along the process that just got lost.
Not that I want to take too much of the blame off of Yuuya Takahashi's shoulders, because even ignoring the problems in the execution, I was still really hoping there would be something more clever going on when Izu inevitably got the robo-tentacle treatment from somebody. The fact that she was always conspicuously not targeted whenever MetsubouJinrai needed more goons when basically everyone else was on the table was something I was happy to simply file under suspension of disbelief, but at that point, the show loses the ability to randomly turn off her plot armor and have me buy it. Perhaps there is something more to this, and it's all just another amazing long-game genius move by Takahashi that will all make sense a couple months down the line, but even if that's the case, right here and now, it hurt my ability to get into the episode. Which is a shame, because on the whole, it's a great time. The upside of it being overstuffed is that there are boatloads of story happening, and outside of the above, all of it is generally as rock solid as usual. The way Horobi tries to make Jin hate humans by refusing to get repaired after sustaining injuries that shouldn't be a problem to fix would be something to question, but fortunately, Jin's childlike state of mind means it's entirely in-character for him not to be able to think through the logic of who's actually at fault at that point. Speaking of the complicated nature of HumaGear mortality, apparently we are actually done with Ikazuchi already. I kind of assumed being one fourth of the organization's namesake would've guaranteed him some extra importance, but no dice. It was also cool seeing Horobi make the decision to take that hit in super slow-motion while linked to the Ark the same way Aruto can be to Zea. It's a nice little parallel, and I appreciate reminders that these characters are technically supposed to be processing information significantly faster than just a regular person can. There's probably a lot more interesting potential the show has yet to tap from that, but for now I'll just be happy that Aruto finally said "Learning complete" again. I actually think that's a super sweet hero catchphrase to say before turning the tide against some bad guys, and it was slightly worrying when the last time we'd heard it since the premiere was out of a dodo's mouth instead. That phrase was on the promotional posters and stuff, guys! Use it more! Anyways, yeah, Aruto was great here, and since he's still so good at doing the subdued rage bit, I should probably start remembering his actor's name by now. So props to... *Learning in progress* ...Fumiya Takahashi (no relation to Writer-san, I presume) for turning in another strong performance. I was going to make a snarky joke after that bit about how letting him do some proper acting even totally justifies how weird it was that Aruto randomly shows up untransformed after already showing up as Zero-One to use Breaking Mammoth... but then I had the epiphany that since he clearly specifically wanted to have that face-to-face chat with Jin to hear him explain his actions... it actually makes total sense why things played out that way. So I guess the fact that the episode moves so fast might be making things seem less coherent than they are, in which case this episode might be even better than I think it is. Huh.

Most of what I'd say has already been said. They rushed through a lot in this episode, and in that rush some things didn't make as much sense as they should have, but overall I thought it was still solid.
I wanna talk about Aruto's joke while Izu was getting repaired. I know a lot of us find his jokes annoying, and this one could have seemed really inappropriate given how serious the moment was, but it clicked with his attempt in the last episode and reminded me why he tells those jokes: He's trying to cheer people up. But not just in some vapid everything-is-fine way, he's trying to break the tension and raise people's spirits even when everything seems bleak. And that he's failing so hard honestly makes all the defeats and high-cost victories the heroes have been suffering lately feel even more crushing. Unrelated to that, I'm still waiting for when we find out Assault Wolf / Shining Assault Hopper's real downside. Since it comes from the Arc, I'm betting it'll be worse than just coughing up blood. I kinda hope it's something that Fuwa overcomes but Aruto doesn't, like how Mach mastered Type Deadheat. |

Liked how when Shining Assault Hopper appeared the sun rises right after. Darkness really fades when he shines. Also loved the "Warning! Warning! This is not a test!" part of the transformation. Bet the form will knock Aruto out for at least a day with the combined side affects of Assault and Shining. Last edited by Spearichu; 12-18-2019 at 02:37 PM.. |

Huh - this episode made me realize how much I like Jin as a character. I never disliked him but looking back at it now - there's a lot of care put into properly developing him as the show continues and that's great.
I always thought I needed to see more of Horobi but I'm actually more interested to see what Jin will end up doing now. Becoming the final boss? Joining the good guys? Something else entirely? All possible outcomes at this point I think. |
