Lizardman, the very first Phantom Haruto mat, is on the rampage!
But just why is he on a film set? Why does he gain from this attack? Koyomi is starting to remember parts of her past. But will she betray her friends to serve Wiseman? Can Water Dragon turn the tide, if it shows up at all? Discuss the Magic! Or um...what passes for it here. |

So, this episode was... terrific! After the thread where we were discussing the flaws of the show, they put out probably the best episode of the series, IMO. Liked everything about it.
Koyomi's cute fashion montage was fun, followed by her legitimately spooky journey following the Cerberus familiar made her the first supporting cast member I actually like. She was seriously adorable this episode, and I was actually worried about her fate! The twist of the director being a Phantom, not a Gate was predictable but still a change from the norm was interesting. Likewise that girl being a Gate was obvious but they handled the reveal well. The big events of the episode were of course the Wiseman reveal, but then showing that he was generating the magic stones, for nefarious purposes! The proximity of the White Wizard to all this was interesting. It's too soon to tell if he is Wiseman, but I'm thinking not, at this point. I think like I suggested a week or two ago he might be actually in charge of the whole thing. Just a hunch. What Wiseman said about to the stone, if the translation is accurate puts a new spin on the whole situation. Last edited by bluesparrow; 12-10-2012 at 04:06 AM.. |

So Haruto doesn't even noticed that a person next to him is gone to push a truck into him. Nice job.

Gotta agree with all the points bluesparrow said. Don't think I enjoyed the episode as much as he did, but it was good.

I thought this episode was pretty decent. Nice to see more potential hints at Wiseman & White Wizard. Still kinda thinking they're the same guy but not 100% on that yet. Cerberus also means that Beast should be appearing quite soon since that's supposed to be on of his Plamonsters. My only problem with Wizard is that while I'm content with whatever episode I'm currently watching, the preview for the next one looks better, and then disappoints upon watching it.

Pretty good episode, not amazing but it was nice to see Haruto and Koyomi doing something at the start of the episode. Even if Wiseman and the White Wizard aren't the same guy there seems like there'll be some sort of connection which will be in interesting to see unfold.
I'm looking forward to hopefully a time where it won't be painfully obvious what each magic stone is going to be used for.

I'm really starting to like this show a lot. It still has a vague early-Heisei feel to it that I really enjoy and the characters, although still nowhere near as dynamic as the last few casts, are really growing on me - yes, even Shunpei when he's not being a total spaz. I think this is a show that probably works better when not watched weekly, but I'm still liking it a lot.

Solid episode. This is one of those episodes that makes me ask some questions that will be interesting to see play out.
We now know that Wiseman is making the Dragon stones. White Wizard is making sure the stones are getting the Haruto by having familiars spy and steal. But what doesn't add up here is why would Wiseman leave the stone alone? If he's making them, then he's already lost 2 that way. I'm not convinced yet that Wiseman and White Wizard are one and the same, but it's within reason to believe that these two are planing something, possibly together. If we assume they are working together (or even the same person), then the question is, of course, what's the end game? I'm thinking the end game is exacting the dragon from Haruto. With every new Dragon form, the dragon can manifest more of his real body in the overworld. In the overworld, the Phantoms are all humanoid while in the underworld they are all huge [CGI] creatures. What if the end game is to fully manifest the dragon without the need of a human form? Meanwhile, it's nice to see the show flat out confirm the Phantoms have the same human body/memories as the Gate they came from. It's be alluded to before, but not proven. To me, this means Koyomi's Phantom does not have a human form or Nega Koyomi is coming. Come to think of it, she's probably part of this plot too. Whoa, didn't mean to go overboard on the speculation there. Regardless, this episode has "the plot thickens" written all over it and that can be entertaining to my imagination. |

Ooooo; I like the sound of the endgame.
Also, for that matter, re: Koyomi and Haruto at the beginning - given she's been referred to as a living doll, it puts a whole new spin on how he's having her try on various outfits... |
