Battle Fever Robo
The first Giant Mecha in Sentai history. Very clearly samurai themed which makes it look quite striking. Considering the whole international motif Battle Fever J has, I do kinda wish it had elements from other countries aside from Japan. Regardless what we got is a pretty good looking robot. Daidenzin The first transforming mecha in the series and it's..........okay I guess. There's a lot of design bits about it that I don't really care about like the three pronged head or the giant D on the chest. Honestly I would say I like the jet mode better than the robot itself. Battle Fever J Robo:... No, just... no...Oh, you wanted me to say more? Alright, fine. While the samurai motif the robo has is a very interest choice, I find all of its armor kind of ugly and its face looks kind like something out of a horror movie. Not to mention its horns look pretty bad. While the Battle Fever J suits are kind of charming and an interesting time capsule in how dated they are, I find this robot to be... not very nice to look at.
Denziman: This robot is just OK. I like its helmet, though I do think its a little goofy, but I find it not all that special overall. |

Man, looking at these and realizing how far the Megazords have come in 42 years.

Toqger, Zyuohger, and a few others would disagree. Besides having the worst articulations of a toyline that's known for bad articulations, the paint job and design are horrible for collectors too. I think some kids and retro fans might disagree.

Battle Fever Robo isn't the best or worst Sentai Robo ever. It just is in itself! It has plenty of bad points cause the "Cross Fever" attack doesn't translate too well, and the cockpit is meant to be located in the circle on its "belt", but given how far down that goes...'nuff said! It didn't even use its sword finisher until around Ep. 15! That said, it is the "ORIGINAL" Sentai Robo, and that has to count for something! It appeared alongside DaiBouken in special footage which was reused for 199! It has plenty of weapons and is protected by a fearsome battleship "shell", Battle Shark!
Jet Mode is something you wouldn't expect from a solid "brick" like DaiDenjin! The "nosecone" is the only genuine vehicle portion, and transformation sequence is rather simple and lackluster. Still, you wouldn't expect that Jet to house a head with spikes on it! It isn't the most stellar Mecha, and did get a little gruesome by cutting the Monster's head off in Ep. 1, which you probably won't see in Modern Sentai! There is something to be said about a series that can go for some 50 episodes, show the Mecha virtually every episode, and have no Secondary or Power-up support! The Joys and Downfalls of Classic Sentai! For a robot using three primary colors it does a good job. As for the Battle Fever Robo I guess they were thinking more of the Mazinger-esque robots.
