Something like a drama from Jetman would be enough.

If they have the right people behind it, I will be up for it. Being dark and gritty is good when you know how to use it. The same goes for things being bright and upbeat. A revamp version of JAKQ would be cool.

Amazons was a web series, not a TV series, so I assume that this hypothetical "dark" sentai would be done in a later time slot.
Anyways...just look at some more mature mecha shows out there. Evangelion, New Getter Robo, Knights of Sidonia, etc. They could take elements from those shows, like the psychological effects that piloting a giant robot against an alien race can have on you, and make a live action version of it. Of course, it would have to actually have competent staff and a decent budget involved so as to not come off as overly melodramatic and edgy.

Maybe something like how the crew that assisted Omega had to replace members because some of them died or turned out to be Amazons, so a Yellow Ranger or none sixth ranger had to be replaced (maybe have a small joke/rumor that a certain colored sentai position is cursed, like a Star Trek red shirt). Maybe some nonsense like the Neo Jetman, a replacement crew made by an interfering rival commander to the "Zordon" of the season. Actually having a short but planned season that doesn't have the large amount of filler Rider fans tend to complain about with Sentai (I don't always mind, but I recognize the argument made). Plus, maybe just for the fun of remaking an old favorite Sentai series with a fresh perspective. Doesn't have to be inherently dark, if at all, just a "what if Go-Go V was made today" kind of project. Or hell, just make another damn Dino/Ninja/Cop season and instead of it taking up a main series spot its just banished to an online streaming service.
