So these guys turned up in the mail this morning. The box turned out to be HUGE.
To give you a sense of how big each of the boxes are I've put Gao God's box in front of Giant Saver's box. I havent seen much of the series (just some fight scenes with the mechas) so I'm not gonna detail the heroes or the way the mechs are introduced or anything. Its all just about the toys. Straight out of box the three are combined for the most part into robot mode. Save for the combination scrolls and some weapon bits. Though they're packed in robot mode, I think it makes more sense to start with the individual Holy Beasts. We'll start with the team that represent 'Man'. First up is the Red Ape. He is apparently based on some mobile artillery of sorts. He has some limited articulation in his arms and legs which is nice. The black visor can be flipped down to hide his face. The gun on his back can extend and turn as well. Ocean Shark is a... Submarine/shark hybrid? She has opening jaws. Cool? She has a attack mode which isnt all that interesting but points for trying. Steel Tusk is some kind of construction vehicle with a warthog's face attached. Probably the worst looking of the 5 initial Holy Beasts since its kinda just the robot legs. He has a neat feature where rolling his front wheels makes his tusks move up and down. His Attack mode is just flipping those wheel guards in front. Yeh... Red Ape, Ocean Shark and Steel Tusk together. The main component to each of the robo's combinationsare these combination scrolls. The lights and sounds of these sets. Pressing the button on top makes the front gold pieces open up and reveal the 'Man' chinese character with lights and sound effects playing. In order to combine, they have to be taken apart to varying degrees. Once combined we get the first Robot of this series. Giant God War Attack King (Or Giant Saver for short). Notably he has one normal hand and one hand that is a animal's head. I dunno why but he feels really old school 90s Sentai mech to me. There are enough pegs holding everything together it doesnt feel like it'll break apart at all. As for the special feature of the copmbination scroll? Pressing his head down causes the chest to open and lights and sound effects to play while a voice is heard saying 'Giant God Brave Attack God has arrived!' in mandarin. Red Ape's gun transforms into Giant Saver's sword. Its very suitable length of the transformation leaves one side looking bland. So it starts out simple enough. But soon they quire two more holy beasts. First is the Golden Bull. His legs are articulated due to his transformation. But like most animals from Sentai, they're not particularly useful. His attack mode requires pulling his front and half appart. This causing automorph like features that causes his horns to slide forward and some thruster like things to flip up on his back. Pretty cool. Last is the Snow Bear. Seems to have a rescue and sled design to it? His attack mode. By combining all five Holy Beasts together they form Giant God Brave Attack King (or Giant Braver for short). Gives him bigger shoulder bads and two animal head for hands. It looks pretty nice still. One thing I'd say is the ratchets on those should pads arent strong enough. They move out of position way too easily. And for some reason the shark tail shoulder pad droops down more making his appearance look a bit uneven. He can still hold the sword. So Giant Braver is a neat set. The plastic quality is good. Not Bandai good. But good. Some ratcheting isnt strong enough and the paint has chips here and there but its not like other toylines dont suffer from this kind of QC. Dunno why but this feels very nostalgic. Despite being a new toy. Next is the Heaven team. Used by the silver and yellow Guardians. The biggest of the set is the Exploding Thunder who seems to be a lion crossed with a jumbo jet. He has two turbines on each of his wings in the TV version but they were omitted here. Also he looks kinda like Victory Leo in terms of design and colours. You'll notice he has a lot of undercarriage. Unavoidable given the transformation. His feet are on ball joints but he cant really used them. His head also blatantly has a robots face as its jaw. Unfortunate. His wings can be moved into different positions if you prefer. Soaring Bird is cross between bird and Vtol or something. Its got really cool wings. Not much features otherwise. Fire Phoenix is a bird and jet hybrid. Those wings are kinda a bit loose for some reason. his feet can eaither be in a standing position or flying position. His attack mode reverses the wings and head. All Heaven Holy Beasts together. The combination scroll is similar. Just the front end and the sound effects are different. Again they have to be taken apart to combine. Combined they form Heaven Splitting War Attack King (or Assault Saver). The legs are VERY stiff. Felt like I was about to break it rotating the hips down. Also seems you cant rotate his shoulders. Instead you have to take the arms out and then put it in a different angle. Kinda wierd. Pressing his head down causes the chest to split open and a voice says 'Heaven Splitting War Attack King has arrived!'. Due to the gimmick, his head is elevated quite a bit. You can see straight through that 'neck'. Assault Saver is on par with Giant Braver. Despite it only being made of three bots, its got a more interesting transformation but Giant Braver has the two different robot modes. Unfortunately due to the design, they cant swap arms. The last set belongs to a single guardian who represents 'Earth'. The Battle Wolf is the largest of the Earth Holy Beasts. The giant sword on its back reminds me of zoids Genesis. Unlike most wolf mecha they made him pretty... stocky. But they did give him neck articulation. But the way the head is attached looks real weird. Tbh the head looks more like a bear than a wolf. The second biggest is the Dragon. Actually reall cool. His transformation shares similarities with the snake from Goseigers but much better. Really love how the mold came out. He also features an attack mode where pulling out that scale part on his back reveals a small gun. Yeh not that well executed. The smallest is the Giant Armour (turtle). Also the least interesting of the four. His back flippers can rotate up and down. I forgot to flip the front ones out. Oops. Last is the Roaring Tiger. Another one I really like. Tiger + tank . Fliping the cannons to the sides reveal hidden missiles molded in. Lastly his attack mode involves his legs retracting so he's on the tank treads. Neato . All four Earth Holy Beasts together. The Earth Scroll seems much more easily activated than the others. Dunno why. Features are basically the same as the other two. Combination time! Only the Wolf and Turtle need to come apart. Also this time the front end of the scroll needs to be removed then the Giant Armour is attached after which the scrolls part is put back in place locking the turtle and scroll together. Rather weird. Combined they form the Earth Shattering Attack King (Or 'Crack Saver'). Pressing the head down causes the chest to open and a voice says 'Earth Shattering Attack King has arrived!'. Of the three robos, his head looks the worst viewed from the side. Seriously. The Wolf Sword can finally be used AS a sword. Its a neat sword too. Beats out the Giant Braver gun sword thing. So 'Crack Saver' is pretty cool. The turtle feels a bit half arsed but still looks like what it is at least. It feels that at times the vehicle and animal hybrid thing gets lost in the designs. The dragon and wolf... I have no idea what vehicle they are. Also he comes with a piece that is useless if you do not have the other two since its only used for the 12 part combined form. Various comparison shots. Now that everyone's covered, lets move on to the big event. Combining the Man and Heaven Teams requires some parts to be taken off each robo. Red Ape's visor has to be removed... Assault Saver requires more to be taken off. Naturally. Exploding Thunder's head pretty much the key to the big combination since it becomes the new face. The two birds become the boot add ons. United they become Heaven Man Brave Attack King. I dont know if theres a 'official' english equivalent so I'll call him Heaven Braver. The Ape visor can be stored in Assault Saver's now empty chest. According Mr.Y's review pressing his head down is supposed to say 'Heaven Man Brave Attack King has arrived!' but I dont understand it so it doesnt work. Some pressed later made it say 'Super God Brave Attack King has arrived!' so I'm not entirely sure what affects what it says. You can press the button on the Heaven scroll cannon but it just says the same as it normally does. Dunno how to make it do anything else. With Giant Braver's sword. A look at the combo from the side. I think this combination looks good. He still has notable arms and feet. Just got some other guy strapped to his back. not like thats never happened in Super Sentai coughbusterohrangerrobocough. But the head seems a bit too far forward though. Next we start adding Crack Saver to it. The wolf has... shattered under the stress. poor guy. At last we have the Super God Brave Attack King (from here on out called Great Braver ). The monstrosity that is... actually not much worse than Heaven Braver. The majority of Crack Saver forms the giant sword (which requires a piece that form the handle that is otherwise useless). The Giant Armour combines with Giant Braver's sword to make the shield. Roaring Tiger forms two cannons on either side of his hips. Bits of wolf becomes his new chest armour. The only stuff seeminly randomly placed on it are the wolf's hand legs and Armour's turbines. Here he is without the weapons. Side view. Thw weapons on their own. Heres some size comparisons with the most recent 'normal' Super Sentai DX I have, Shinkenoh. They're actually very good fit size wise. And Heaven Braver with Daikai Shinkenoh and Gobusteroh. So all in all I think they're great toys. No not on par with Super Sentai. But how can you blame them? Bandai have been at it for years. here we have highly detailed and well painted toys (not to mection the high quality chrome) that combine together and also have some functionality on their own too. Sure some look goofy but even Super Sentai has some odd balls here and there. Quality wise, some clips are kinda loose. Some are tough. and some just right. Ripping those front legs off the wolf really put the fear of god into me. The only problem I guess is the price. The toy itself is well priced. But shipping may scare you off. But once I got the shipment in, I kinda understood why the shipping was so expensive. Those damn boxes are HUGE. Its a good set that I feel should deserve some love. Much better looking than that Daizyujin KO God Beast Megazord . Last edited by Roanstalker; 01-10-2013 at 05:09 PM.. |

I'd love to get them, but I'm terrified of shipping...
The fully combined version is an eyesore, I can't lie, but it's something. Maybe if they keep this up the next series will have better toys.

Any way I figured out that if you hold the button down on Giant Braver's combination scroll it will say the Super God line. And similarly if you hold down the buttons on the Heaven and Earth Scrolls they make a sort of firing noise. I still cant figure out how to get the Man scroll to say the Heaven Man line. Edit pressing the button twice consecutively activates the Heaven Man line. Mystery solved lol. Last edited by Roanstalker; 01-11-2013 at 03:15 AM.. |

I've actually got something planned in relation to that though not what you might think.

I can't seem to find any pictures at the moment but I remember KOToys sold them a few years ago. My previous dealings with that place however didn't give me much faith to order them at the time.
