Been a fan of Let's Watch Wednesdays @ Tokunation's look at Ultraman Nexus? Well here's a look at the first Ultra-Act release from the series, Ultraman Nexus Junis!
For a little history lesson, Ultraman Nexus was originally meant to be a brand new reboot of the classic Ultra franchise for a modern audience, which is why the character is only ever called Ultraman in series. A combination of bad time slots, a very adult story aimed at a young audience, and abrupt cancellation however relegated the show into an alternate universe unrelated to the Ultra franchises main "M78" universe until recent films tied the 2. Though cut short of it's intended 50 episode run the series is a compelling darker look at Ultraman, as is it's theatrical prequel, simply titled Ultraman or The Next. As a host of Nexus, or Dunamist, one uses the Evol Thruster in order to become him, which initially would give them access to the silver Nexus Anphans form. Junis (Red) is the form which for the majority of the series Himeya Jun used until the appearance of Junis Blue. This form is also later used by Komon Kazuki in the series finale. Nexus is also the evolved form of Ultraman The Next and the devolved form of the mysterious and powerful Ultraman Noa. Want TokuNation.com updates on the go? If you ever wondered why Ultra-Acts were larger than SH Figuarts, that's your reason. They scale really well with Bandai's long-lived line of vinyl Kaiju. Golza and Gan-Q would have made great Nexus monsters!
Nexus-Junis looks fantastic, and watching the show is not helping me resist buying him.

I think I'm going to have to celebrate the end of the LWW with a purchase of this figure

The only complaint I have is that my Nexus has an incredibly loose right elbow.
