Because older fans in Japan don't exist, aren't catered to, and never criticize stuff in this genre, ever. Right -___-"

The point is these series, especially Sentai, cater to their age demographic first and foremost. That's the demographic that brings in the revenue.
If the demographic shows that dinosaurs sell, they're going to make the theme dinosaurs. If the theme hasn't been used in a while, it's back on the table. They'll reuse a theme if it's worth reusing. Older fandoms are secondary. Western fandoms are below even that. Obviously liking a series, theme or concept is subjective, but we're not the ones who make the decisions about what should or shouldn't be done here. |

To them the same thing goes. They're an afterthought, less so then us. Kids wake up at 9 am to watch this, they woke up at 6 am to watch this. The shows don't target an older audience, they target kids.

Kid show: *focuses solely on kids and the success of the show is determined by how well the toys sell that they keep flashing in your face like 20 times per episode*
"Wow I can't believe they aren't thinking about us, the fans who haven't been in the target demographic for like 20 years"

Right, sure. "Not for you! Kids' show meant to sell toys! Spandex-wearing guys fighting rubber monsters, it's all nonsense, don't take it seriously nerd!" As though people never got over being teased in school and are trying to come off as "I'm self aware, see I don't take this seriously, I'm normal!"

I honestly don't believe any of that. Anime and Tokusatsu are all made by humans, and no matter what country or culture you come from, anyone can make a bad story or something that just doesn't connect with audiences like they hoped. If I had to guess, the people making Tokusatsu probably just got in a creative rut or got tired of the complaints of their domestic audience, and decided it was easier to make something fun rather than try to make a masterpiece of fiction every time. But that's just my speculation.

Complain if you wanna complain, just remember you're not the target audience and things won't go the way you'd like it to go. Ryusoulger might be the best Sentai in years despite it's Dino theme, we honestly don't know. At the end of the day it's still a case of this show's meant to sell toys to kids, that's what it's going to do and no amount of complaining from adults both in Japan and outside of it will change that.
Also I'll happily criticize everything Japan does with it's entertainment, ESPCIALLY anime, can't stand it. Last edited by Damienthathedge; 12-28-2018 at 11:23 PM.. |

I think the theme won't really matter, though. If the story is great then it's still worth watching anyway.

Anyways, I've gotten over the reused Dino theme again. And yes, dinosaurs are cool no matter what and it's always exciting to see new dino sentai. The problem is that due to the success of Kyoryuger we got Dino Force Brave and Dino Charge which are very recent, that is why older fans are fatigued because of overexposure. Doesn't help that the colors are exactly the same as Kyoryuger, which further makes people think this is blatant Kyoryuger recycle. The best thing we can hope is that Ryusoulger is not only exceeds the toy sales, but also becomes a Sentai that is loved by fans and kids. Aka not another Daigo Sentai Kingranger :P
