Hey everyone, guess what time it is!
Time for me to find some clever way to work in a Back to the Future Part II quote... but since I can't think of one, I'll instead point out Sougo's (not) trip to the future last episode included a holographic shark, so Toei definitely isn't doing this on accident. This episode was on point. The Time Jackers are still dangerously close to wearing thin on me, and I've decided White Woz is nowhere near as cool as OG Woz, but he's alright. Three things jumped out at me, though. First was Sougo's characterization, once again inspiring greatness in his subjects, as well as the little bits that show he isn't quite as chipper about being Zi-O as he used to be. I still don't think Sougo is any sort of exceptional protagonist, but as long as the show keeps tapping more and more of the goldmine of potential that is his character, I'll keep giving him the credit he deserves. The second part that impressed me was a lot of the very "active" shots, especially during the fight with Woz in the climax. The way the camera was moving around was just super appealing to me for some reason. Finally, and this is a minor point, but the fact that neither Geiz or Zi-O used any kind of form change. Zi-O still has plenty of upgrades to forget about his main form, but it's a pleasant surprise he isn't already busting out the Decade Armor in every fight scene. Quote:
Zi-O obviously has a lot of that stuff going on too, but as evidenced by the return of the two-part formula, it's more on the level of something like Double or Fourze. I'd definitely agree it's likely people simply waiting a bit longer to watch the episodes plays into it.

It's good that Sougo is improving. He's less annoying than early episodes.

I am happy the show is starting to get better. Also like Woz's weapon having spear in the name.

Pretty decent episode all around, and I think I managed to follow the timey-wimey stuff, so I'm gonna give myself a medal for that. Other Woz is alright, but honestly, I gotta give props to Woz the First for actually having emotional range in this one. The Time Jackers continue to be forgettable, but it's interesting how Schwortz can go to the alternate future, but no-one else can. Wonder if that'll ever get explained.

As a faction the Time Jackers need their storyline to actually start, I also wonder if they are just part of Oma zi-Os faction. Last edited by DecoyBlackMage; 01-19-2019 at 03:32 PM.. |

Finally managed to see the subs today. Surprised no one who saw the episode has mentioned this already, but:
At the end of the ep, White Woz reveals that his book technically says "A warrior wielding three RideWatches which should not exist in this timeline" is the one who destroys Zi-O on the Day of Oma. So basically, White Woz is probably the one who's going to kill Sougo, and White Woz is unknowingly taking over the role of savior for himself because he still thinks Geiz Revive is gonna do it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If all of this turns out to be true. This means that on the Day of Oma, Sougo will actually have to defeat/kill White Woz if he still want's to be king/overlord. Rather than the more morally difficult decision of choosing to either defeat/kill Geiz or just let Geiz destroy him. |

Honestly, the last two episodes were pretty good. They're actually better from a pacing and development perspective than the Legend Rider arcs and Shinobi was very cool.
Some of the action was phenomenal too. Woz looks and awesome and the Shinobi armour looks and moves splendidly. The VFX were for his transformation were amazing. I'm more for the Legend Riders but I have to admit that I am liking the new direction also. Things are actually getting pretty interesting. |
