Loving the figures, hate the Turtle heads :/
Might need to find some substitutes. |

Maybe some reason is given in the comic itself, but I kinda hate how they just gave the turtles the colours of their bandanas and weird amalgamated weapons. Wouldn’t Raph make more sense as yellow and Leo as Red? And then Donnie could be blue since the weapons can form a staff. Odd one out is Mikey but it’s not like Donnie’s axe turned into a bo staff.
It’s just weird how Leo and Raph basically end up with identical weapons. |

It’s just weird how Leo and Raph basically end up with identical weapons. Basically when given the chance to Morph, the Turtles stick to their bandana colors because Zordon lets them choose which Ranger they wanna be. Raph especially wants Red since it's the leader position ontop of being his favorite color.

Zordon: Rangers see that random boat?, the megazord can "merge with it". The powers are just very adaptable. Also again the colors don't mean anything. Pink could be leader. There is no ranking or special class powers outside the weapon modes. So there really was no need for the Turtles to take a color matching that rangers personality. It's not like Jason/Rocky, Zack/Adam, Trini/Aisha, Kimberly/Kat have the same personalities which is why they took on those colors. |

Both those explanations sound pretty lame. It means there's no specificity to the powers and they don't really matter. If the weapons can just adapt why have fixed weapons at all?
The thing about the Megazord also sounds kind of stupid. It's the same problem with "trasnscanning" from Transformers where it takes all the engineering appeal out of multiple robots designed to transform and combine. It's never fun when the powers or gear can just do whatever they want. Also I never said the turtles should take colours matching the personality, I was referring to the weapons. Red has a sword, give it to the turtle who uses swords. The yellow ranger has sais, give it to the turtle that uses sais, etc. The fact that both leaders use swords and both nerds use a staff are just coincidence. Or if they really must have their preferred colours (kinda) have the turtles be forced to use weapons they're not familiar with. If that's the case then why aren't the weapons exact duplicates of their preferred weapons? Is Donnie really much of an axe guy? |

To be fair, concerning their ranger color choices, considering all the stuff the turtles use that make use of turtle themes, they always have had a strong sense of brand recognition.
Or, Donatello does, at least

Ryan Parrot actually mentioned in an interview (one of the Ranger Danger Boom Room episodes) that there was a point where he considered the Turtles morphing into colors focused more on the individual relationships built over the crossover i.e. Leo as Red, Don as Blue, Mikey as Black and Raph presumably as yellow. However, upon discussing it with editors, they immediately identified the Turtles by their colors "of course Raphael's gonna be the red ranger" and so on. Thus the colors we got.
I think it's fine. Leo still stands in the middle for the team pose and the Power Blaster. Only time Raph is centered as the red ranger is when they're in the Megazord. |

Not to mention when it comes to the common reader, and in-universe, everyone being able to recognize who is who via color is quick and easy, especially in the heat of battle.
Personally I prefer it this way, as it focuses more on the Turtles' personalities and character traits, rather than simply whatever gear they happen to have. And it offers a neat bonus of getting unique stuff out of it. Having a bunch of pages dedicated to trying out unfamiliar gear would just be padding, giving the general flow of the crossover.

The Zord thing isn't really all that stupid given what Boom has done with it. They keep it consistent. I think you need to actually read the comic as seeing it in action is different then me describing it through my pov. Outside colors and weapons, can anyone describe what sets the turtles physically apart? The last cartoon they were in made them different kinds of turtles so they were all physically different. But with the status quo they all look the same Honestly the comic makes it all work. The turtles are easy to identify while morphed and the weapons are familiar from the PR side and the TMNT side. I found it all creative. |

Essentially the whole stream was a closer look at the new figures and some brief talk about how the crossover came to be. Fun stuff.
