Just watched the first two episodes of Ryuki. It looks a little dated, but I kinda dig that early noughties style of filming Japanese series seem to have so its all good. Having only watched Rider shows from Decade-onwards, I can already tell Ryuki has a darker/eerier edge to it. Looking forward to watching more.

I think I'll start by explaining what I consider a good Rider series. I've watched Kuuga, Fourze, W, OOO, some of Den-O, a few episodes of Kiva, and most of Decade. And out of all of them Fourze is my absolute favorite. OOO is a close second.
That being said I'm not twenty one episodes into Wizard. I'm not enjoying it as much as I did Fourze. When I was watching Fourze for the first time, I couldn't wait until the next episode. I was downing them five at a time. Wizard though isn't a bad series. I'm enjoying it. But I can barely it through two episodes at a time before I'm looking for something else to do. I completely understand now why people complain about the belt. And I have the perfect example. The final fight with Phoenix. And the fight with Phoenix when Rinko is laying bleeding on the ground. You'd think Haruto would learn to Henshin quick enough it only gets out Shaba and then he presses down the Henshin ring of his choice. Fourze's useless Switches have nothing on some of the Useless Rings that Wizard employs. Sleep I can see being useful once or twice. But Dress Up? Outside of the one time he used the Ring, I don't see it being very useful. One thing Wizard does have over Fourze is Fourze had more useless switches. But Gentaro made up for that by making them useful towards the end. Haruto has yet to display that level of imagination. Shunpei is the only character I wish that Haruto would've let fall into despair. Though Gosei only knows the kind of annoying Phantom he'd become. I just don't like him. Rinko, atleast, has been useful. And a good character all around. The absolute Joy of this series has been Kamen Rider Beast himself, Nosuke Nito. His helmet still looks like a shaven Ratorata but I love him. I love him, I love his Kimaira, and I absolutely love his capes. I just wish they were a little longer. I do enjoy the villians too. Medusa and Phoenix especially. It still bothers me how they copped out destroying Phoenix. The fight was far to short and unsatisfying. And how they destroyed him really bothers me. It just feels like Haruto would've thought of that sooner, or let Beast eat him before he could regen. I'm enjoying the series enough to finish it out. But it doesn't get me excited to come home and watch like Fourze did. And it doesn't have the depth of story of Kuuga. Or as threatening villians. |

Or as threatening villians. watch the new episodes of Wizard when they're subbed, but that's it. I remember back when I first began, I would marathon episodes of W. To this day, it is my favorite series. When I began Fourze, I would watch episodes from other series while waiting for the new Fourze. Now it's just Wizard. Perhaps by finally embracing it, Kamen Rider has lost it's magic. Either that or I don't have time anymore. Probably the latter. Last edited by KRX; 04-06-2013 at 12:05 AM.. |

Wizard is a series that I just consider dull.
I'm actually one of the few who defend Shunpei because he was the only one doing this thing called acting during the first 10 episodes. Haruto and Rinko were dull in almost all of their delivery and just stood around, while Wajima spend 90% of every episode in his little workspace or just sitting on the couch while Koyumi was being a bitch. Anyway, Beast is feeling less like this series's saving grace, and more like this series's last lifeline. Lively, energetic, and fun to watch, Nitou is pretty much the only reason why I watch now that Phoenix was off'd. Also, on the subject of Phoenix, what's to say that consuming him was an option? Or that consuming him would prevent his regeneration? Having Beast eat Phoenix yielded just as large a risk of Phoenix reviving himself in Nitou's underworld.

Nito has quickly become my favorite secondary Rider. Without him I think Wizard would become unwatchable now that Phoenix is gone. Or atleast I wouldn't be motivated to finish the series out. Atleast if Nito consumed him, and something like that happened, it would've been story. More than a two minute fight ending how it ended. I just wanted more. How Wizard finished that fight was just... really unsatisfying. Not near as Satisfying as when, for example, Gentaro beat Ares. Or that whole Ares arc. |

I've still yet to catch up on Wizard. I think it's a bit bland, but I really can't put my finger on why. I enjoy the episodes, but like Sentai, I just can't feel motivated enough to watch it every week.
It's just so strange that I can't figure out my lack of interest. I like Wizard, I really like Beast and the cast has been pretty decent. So, why?

Anyway, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that he does return superpowered and super charged from his experience in the sun. Still doesn't change the fact that his awesome story arc had a rather fast paced ending.

Also, to answer Matrixbeast's question, our sun is named "the Sun." When you refer to it as "the Sun," "sun" should be capitalized. In other words, I can continue my crusade to rename the Sun "Solaris" (or maybe "Daggeron" to spice things up a bit). |
