There are LOADS of stories online but there is one to get an idea. I dunno whether this deserves a whole thread but as this forum is only possible by the internet, as so many of our shows are, I feel like the changing landscape of the internet deserves a discussion. I am honestly deeply unsettled by the ramifications of this, in itself cutting out child pornography/rape and other twisted porn cultures that can only strive on the internet is a good thing. But with the vagueness of the reporting on many of the articles, I'm scared this is just a beginning and not where the line is drawn. It appears Cameron is basically going to change the law so he can legally invade your privacy and deem whatever you own as illegal or not. Right now it's just for sick fucks, but how long is it until we're downloading fansubs through encrypted channels? What worries me a lot is how a computer doesn't seem to be treated like say a...home, despite the similarities between the two. They would never be allowed to legally put you under surveillance and then bust down your door and rummage through your DVDs, not without evidence and a case to justify it, but apparently online it is fair game. It seems the irony is that those criticising us of having no control online, are using that just as much to their advantage if not more. Right now, according to a lot of this shit, everyone is a criminal online until they prove themselves innocent. People with nothing to hide have nothing to fear, true, but people with nothing to hide shouldn't be made to feel like criminals whenever they flip open Google, well aware that every key stroke is being fed back to some Government centre. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but right now at least something IS being forced upon us, we have a choice but it is forced upon us first and the reality is, the Government has just enacted its full legal power to control your browsing experience.
