BritBox doesn't have any of the animated reconstructions, full or partial. Last I knew, at least some of them were available via AMC's premium service. Not sure what'll happen with that with the Disney+ deal coming up soon.
The only exception is that they have a telesnap version of Wheel in Space, which was supposed to be the first of several recreations that never actually materialized. |

It's possible. I have that one on DVD so I haven't checked its BritBox status. I hope they have some of them; a trip through the Troughton era is really barren if you don't have any of the reconstructions.

Been thinking about signing up for Brit-Box, but there are concerns about what is truly available via that option.
For example, Hartnell's last regular arc, "The Tenth Planet", seems to be missing in its entirety! Is that merely an example of still-missing arcs, or have some arcs that have been rereleased to DVD/Blu-ray in the past few years (with possible animation to cover the gaps) still not received a digital upload up to this point? It should be noted that "The Tenth Planet" is not alone in this. There are other arcs which are clearly not available on Brit-Box. That one was just a convenient and noteworthy example.

Well, the readers of Doctor Who Magazine have voted for the 36 best stories, three from each Doctor’s run (with The Movie getting automatically added as a 37th finalist), but in doing so, they also picked the 12 worst stories, also one for each era. Now I want you to vote for either the best of the worst, or the absolute rock bottom, using this poll. Either way, I’ll be having a group watch the winner next month. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...rm?usp=sf_link

Two more William Hartnell Serials have been located, but the "owners" are scared of legal reprisals for possessing what could technically be considered "stolen".
Unclear which Serials, but one does involve the Daleks. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...nd-them-to-bbc |

Not sure if anyone here knows about what just happened. Maybe you do and think nothing of it, maybe you even favour it. But I'm just going to vent my disbelief.
Children In Need had another short, this one featuring Davros at the time the first Dalek is being finalised. Again played by Julian Bleach but still humanlike like the rest of the Kaleds. Therefore before his incident. Or rather you presume that. Except now Russel T Davies has said this is now how Davros looks! He's no longer crippled or scarred or deformed or disabled, because a person like that being evil is now discriminatory and offensive! 🤨 |

I never understood the reasons for such a positive restriction. As far as I know, there are no complaints about (in this case) the villain being portrayed as disabled. There are claims that people with disabilities are only portrayed as villains, creating a negative stereotype. Give the Doctor a companion with a disability, or even make him one himself, and everything will be fine.

His performance in the short was phenomenal. I always said that if we ever got to watch pre incident Davros, they need to give real thought to his presentation, and if the current actor would or could not do so like this, then someone of equal calibre would have to be found. Bleach was just as impactive like this as he was as traditional old Davros, but the fact that he is now meant to have only ever been like this completely undermines it.
If they are going to portray him as in the short they have to give a truly considered thought out explanation for it, not just say now he never went through any of what he did. Because then it might as well be another character entirely. |

So I just finished my watch of The Daleks in colour. A fantastic update of the story! It now has the feel of a seventies era story in my opinion. The rescore changes and increases the mood in the right places, although at times is a bit over the top and then some, sometimes being a bit loud and sometimes not fitting in with the rest of the delivery. The improved and newly added effects are graded and made to feel like they come from a lot nearer the time rather than having been done today, and the changed or newly added dialogue bridges and pads out scenes than needed it whilst making things more consistent with changes in the lore that took place in the years after broadcast. The city, whether being seen as model or cgi works a treat, and the performances at times feel so much more vivid and captivating. It goes from having felt like a story that went on too long, to one that moves along at suitable pace, although the last quarter into the ending does seem almost rushed now, like at a completely different pace to the rest of story up to that point. There are of course key parts that they could do nothing to alter without changing them entirely, and they remind you that yes, this was from 1963. There are things I would definitely have done differently. Otherwise this was a good job very well done.

Tubi has all of Doctor Who Generation I up to the 7th Doctor.
The only mini series not up is the first 4 part story An Unearthly Child due to a bit of a rights fight. I own the entire first year of Doctor Who on DVD with Bill Hartnell. Also up to Story 12 from his 2nd year. On Tubi I'm starting The Claws Of Axis with Jo and 3. I saw up to that point on Brit Box VIA Amazon Prime.
