So seeing the Ultraman Marvel comic and BOOM Studios's Power Rangers comics doing well, I was thinking... Which non-Japanese artists not working in Japan would be great for creature and character designers for tokusatsu? So suppose Toei decided to give Tamotsu and K-Suke a break because reasons and decided to hire non-Japanese artists to take over for the suit designs, etc. Share with us who you think would be great overseas talent. This doesn't have to be only North American so if you know any other artists of other regions let it be known here.
For starters, I think Jack Lawrence who worked on IDW Transformers stuff would be befitting as a creature designer and mecha designer for a Super Sentai show in the lines of Go-Busters or Zyuohger. And Andy Poon(the Arrowverse artist who did a rendition of Kamen Rider Black) for a creature artist in either Rider or Ultraman show. |

Syd Mead. Take a look at Turn A Gundam and tell me he wouldn't do awesome with monster designs at the very least.

I'd be very excited to see a tokusatsu series with designs by Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim, the live-action Hellboy), or with involvement from the Jim Henson Creature Shop (Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal).
I can't find info on the artists who did character design for Thunderbolt Fantasy, for all I know they might be Japanese and already involved with toku, but if not then I'd love toku with their designs too!

[QUOTE=FairyKing;789851]I'd be very excited to see a tokusatsu series with designs by Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim, the live-action Hellboy), or with involvement from the Jim Henson Creature Shop (Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal). Jim Henson Creature designs would look amazing in a Tokusatsu show. I also got a lot of that energy from Kamen Rider ZO. |
