With Pacific Rim, and Godzilla returning, could an Ultraman series be next? Well that depends. A Samurai/Shinken straight-up translation would never work. Just look at Samurai for proof of that. That show's near unwatchable aside from Antonio and Deker, and his sword Uramasa. I think one would work if they do an original story. Long as it isn't as doofy as Samurai Squad. I loved Samurai Squad, but.. Come on. It was doofy.
I have a few ideas about how it could work. One of which I started framing for a fanfic idea. But I think it could happen, if done right. And that's the key. Doing it right. Yes, have comic relief. Just not so much it turns into a 30 minute episode of Bulk and Spike. Anyone else have thoughts on this? |

The fact its a straight up translation isn't what's wrong with Samurai. Its the fact its a half-assed one with crappy actors.

It's funny that Deker is considered one of the better actors of Samurai when, during Wild Force, Cole was considered one of the weaker actors in the show
Anyway (Completely biased here), nah. Ultraman should just stay put.

As for Ultraman, I think it should probably stay put to. I don't necessarily think it wouldn't work, but I don't think Western TV needs to become flooded with toku adaptations again. Last time it happened the shows that were actually good were few and far between.
