Unfortunately I just feel the Gobuster mechs fall short in pretty much every way. I own all of them but I can't see myself keeping them indefinitely.
Let's look at Gobusterohs' flaws: -The combined mode head is essentially a mask over a very tiny head -The chest piece barely holds in with friction. And when I say barely I mean that if you nudge it with your hand it falls out. -The shins on Ace stick waaaaay out to the sides from where they connect to Gorisaki. -The tiny fists/flat arms are really unimpressive Great Gobuster: -Incredibly thick upper body -By contrast it has LONG chicken legs -Again, giant mask snapping onto the front of teeny tiny head - Rabbit arms? Just shove them on the back plate -Gorisaki? Just balance him on the back plate too -GobusterOh Mask? Just shove it on that ridiculously long staff that can hardly balance while being held by a teeny tiny peg Honestly each individual figure has it's shortcomings, each has positives. But the combined forms in any capacity are not well executed. Take the Hercules for example. The Stag arm weapon is so heavy that it weighs the figure forward severely throwing it's balance off. And there are so many tiny appendages that point all over the place (wings on the chestplate, legs on the stag weapon) that it makes the joints that do exist in the terrible arms completely pointless. Not to mention that the giant Stag jet gun is too long to pose at the same ratchet as the other arm. You have to lean it even further forward than the other arm, throwing the balance issues into further peril. Look I hate to rant about these toys, I love love LOVE big clunky DX Robos. I really do, but ever Since Boukenger quality and design have been slipping hardcore. You want to do the big cluster machine of doom, then honestly the Ultimate Daibouken is the way to go. You want the big giant monster combiner that's absurd but awesome, then the G12 is the direction you go in. The GobusterOh and Great Gobuster lean further into the direction of absurd and ridiculous in a bad way. They lean towards using all the pieces, which I appreciate more than anything, but at the cost of the Robo looking anything like it does in show. It's pathetic and sad. I can only hope that the Tategami RaiOh rectifies this toyline by being awesome. If it's another Ace then I'll be pleased. If we wind up with another Beet then I may sell everything but the Ace. Den, I'll buy some when you're ready. I need me an Ace! |

In what way exactly? It still had stupid parts that attach to places for the sake of being in the combo Shinkenoh's arms, Those sword things) And the whole combo is essential Daikai Shinkenoh with new arms standing on a moving platform.

TBH I found Engineoh G12 to be one of my favourite Sentai mechas. 12 vehicles that can form four mechas as well as combine together? Awesome. Last edited by Roanstalker; 07-29-2012 at 03:58 PM.. |

Good points though those dont make me dislike it. I really hated that Ace's toes stick out of the gorilla legs like that but after a while I didnt notice them at all. Also you might not have the chest connected properly. The gorilla chest actually clips in place and will NOT disconnect if you peg it in the right place. Gobusteroh/Great Gobuster's head IS just a mask but thats not the first time for Sentai to do that.

Because everything in the Gigazord made sense. The Clawzord's claws were part of it's final attack pattern, the drills from Tiger are the same. The only thing I didn't like was it flew. I know, it's a show. I know it's not real. But no way even in fantasy are you getting something like that airborne. Especailly airborne and flipping multiple times through the air. I'm sorry.

Having to make everything a big ol' clusterf**k by series' end is a major flaw with Sentai mecha as of late. It certainly doesn't help matters that 3 useful and cool looking vehicles combine into the beast that is Go-Buster Oh. Why can't we go back to having one main robot and one or two better ones to fall back on, like GoGoV and Megaranger did?

That's what Gokai-Oh should've been. |

Personally, as someone who hasn't really enjoyed giant battles since Gekiranger, Go-Busters has really made me enjoy them. The way the show handles the mechs, focusing on having the individual members shine over the combinations is really nice. For the record, I really don't have a problem with the combination designs. I'm kinda glad they got away from the big torso+limb formers=robo format for a change.

Yeh I'm really bored with Limb formers. Shinkenger was interesting because they had individual forms but Gokaiger and Goseiger's was boring as hell. Glad this series got away from that. And no stupid accessory mechas (yet?)

To be fair, I always was partial to the G-12, I simply love that combination. However, I admit things can get crazily out of hand when attempting too large combinations. For Go-busters it seemed everything would go right, they cut down the insane number of Zords and they make transformations more complicated. Sounds really good on paper, especially given how good Go-buster Ace turned out to be. Yet, as we know, the results looked a bit messy. I wonder if they ended up trying too hard to be complicated and failed. Trying to imitate, in their own way, the "Bayformer" effect. While overly dumber down Sentai mecha (like Gokaioh) are boring, it is worse to have complicated designs that make no sense. At least Gokaioh looked great combined. I do hope this year's season is an experiment to see what works. Go-busters occasionally tries too hard to be serious, losing that charm that Sentai always had in its absurdity. Yet, I'm glad they took this direction, it shows they're genuinely trying to find something that works instead of rehashing a boring 1 torso and 4 limb combination.
