There are several Japanese exclusive items that look like we may have a difficult time getting state-side, unless you have a friend living in Japan or are capable of navigating a maze of kanji-only websites to arrange the proper deals with multiple third-party companies. The only easily navigable English website that carries on such product I've found is Nippon-Yasan.com. I haven't used them before, but they had a live chat-room assistant, and the process of signing up and ordering was simple. I'm a bit wary, however, as I hadn't heard of them before, and what few posts I could find on Google were rather scathing. Anyone here with experience dealing with them? Did you find them trustworthy? Was your item delivered as promised? Did any issues come up during the process? I REALLY want that new Garo Figuart, and it's looking like Nippon may be my only option.

Recently, many users have reported serious communication problems with Nippon-Yasan. Orders frequently take several days or WEEKS to ship and in some cases items get sent without tracking or notification.

It's been a long time since I used them, since I stopped back in 2016, but last time I dealt with them they had a tendency to jack up shipping and tack on some fee or another. I haven't used them since and I can't say I recommend them given recent experiences of others.

I recently had to resort to using Nippon-Yasan to get the SHF Mighty Bros set.
I can safely say I will never ever ever, literally ever, use them again. I placed an order, and paid for it the same day. EMS shipping. My order then sat, and sat, and sat. They sent me an email that said it was in "preparation" but after a whole week no movement. So I contacted them to be told that it would be shipped immediately. Another week goes by and no shipment so I message them again, they tell me they don't ship on weekends. Okay. Well, I paid for it two weeks ago during the week, and entire week had elapsed in between two weekends so you know, not even remotely a valid excuse. So I went to file a paypal claim only to find a lovely message from NY telling me that if I initiated a claim, they would lock my account and delete all my orders until it was resolved. Yikes. So I gave them another day and messaged them again. FINALLY my box "ships". I put that in quotation because they gave me a dummy tracking number that didn't work for nearly 4 days because they still hadn't actually shipped it. Finally the tracking started working earlier this week and the box actually showed up today. But seriously, 3 weeks for an EMS package to arrive, the worst customer service I've experienced. It's just not worth it. I would never ever recommend them to someone. For anything at all. There is no good will there from me.

Oh yea, fuck N-Y, they banned after I told them I wouldn't pay for extra shipping when I had paid for a CSM gatack 5 days prior and it was IN STOCK. I would have never even known they wanted more for shipping if I hadn't emailed them because they never even let me know. I understand sometimes people make mistakes, but this was for an item that was in stock, so they already knew the weight, they never notified me, they wanted an extra 4k on top of the 5k or so I had already paid, and basically tried to extort me and refused to give me back my money until I opened a paypal claim.
Honestly, for the most part, N-Y is fine UNTIL you have a problem, then they become one of the worst companies to deal with.

Leaving stuff "in preparation" for days/weeks has become a pretty frequent problem in the last few months, but it's never really adversely affected me because I use SAL shipping and even then it still ends up turning up quicker than most places. For stuff requested via EMS though it's completely unacceptable though, their shipping rates aren't cheap. That isn't to say I haven't had minor quibbles with them though. Last month they randomly cashed all my stored points into a coupon even though I didn't ask for one. When I complained they basically said "tough luck we can't reinstate them". Not a huge loss because their discount system is a joke anyway, but I wasn't impressed with their attitude. The shipping fees are also rather questionable. Especially since I know for a fact they don't ship things SAL unregistered. They say they do, but they actually send them registered but don't tell you the tracking number (which explains the seemingly high price). I know this because when I miss their parcels, the postman writes the tracking number on the failed delivery card. Why they do this I have absolutely no idea, but it's pretty strange. So yeah they're a decent enough service to use if you're never in a rush for an item, but the minute you need their customer service for something you're gonna run into trouble. Thankfully that hasn't happened for me yet, but it's only a matter of time I suppose. Depending on your location, these might be more viable options for you: https://www.biginjap.com/en/pvc-figu...ima-kouga.html http://hobbyjapan.ocnk.net/product/2945

Well this is concerning. I pre-order Figuarts Geed and MonsterArts Godzilla 2002 and now I have all these problems to potentially look forward to.

I trust them enough to know you’ll get the items, just don’t be too surprised if you get an email to say they’re preparing for shipment but don’t actually ship until a week later.

Thanks for all the info! Thankfully for me, I'm not in a rush. It's just a toy, after all, and getting it one month instead of another won't really effect my enjoyment of it. ^_^ I'll check out the other links though. If they have what I need, I may try switching over.

It's weird, I remember using N-Y plenty before and even when I had to contact customer service for one reason or another they were pretty cool, but this was also pre-Bandai embargo on paying later for premium releases. There was way more positive buzz about them at that time, too.
I dunno if it's just me, but it felt like as soon as the policy changed to up-front payment for premium items more complaints about service started popping up. |
