I always see lists of best sentai, but a lot of it seems focused on newer stuff. So, what would you say your top 5/10/whatever old school sentai are? For the sake of this discussion, "old school" refers to anything from the 90s and earlier.

All of the 90's because 90's Sentai is the best Sentai.
Also, it's kind of hard to judge many shows before that as there's very little subbed sadly. That's probably why they aren't talked about much. I will say that the first episode of Gorenger is fun if you're ever curious of how it all began. Last edited by Blade Raider; 03-02-2015 at 08:55 PM.. |

*Looks at list of 90's and earlier Sentai I've watched*
*Looks at list of 90's and earlier Sentai that didn't bore me to sleep* ...I guess Megaranger and Kakuranger. The other series I've watched/tried to watch just didn't do much for me. A lot of them feel too episodic, and I know, that sounds really stupid considering it's a franchise that's episodic, but series like Liveman and Sun Vulcan are just so dull. I'm not normally the type of person to fast forward in a show and find the fights, but some of these 90's and earlier shows have me considering it...

If I may I would like to recommend Flashman and Liveman and Turboranger from the 80s.

From what I've seen (Jetman through Kakuranger) I'm most partial to Zyuranger, myself. The more fantasy-based tone is really fun, Bandora is a great villain, and I still think it has some of the best mech scenes in Sentai history. If you have any MMPR nostalgia it really kicks the enjoyment factor up a few notches, too.
