At the time of writing this, I'm in the middle of watching Kakuranger. One of the things I've noticed is that they do quite a bit of action outside of their suits compared to more recent seasons. Not them fighting against an enemy, but they're attack more often before they have a chance to transform. Why don't they do stuff like this any more? Actor safety? Cutting down on violence? Just something I'm curious about.

I really like the unmorphed scenes in Dairanger and Kakuranger (and to a lesser extent the ones in Jetman, Gekiranger, Gokaiger, and a few others), but I still like in-suit action best. Plus, doing out-of-suits stunts with actors that may or may not be trained is certainly WAY harder than working with suit actors.

So they make more money off of licensing the series. If getting more money means having less street clothes fights, I'm sure they'd be totally down with that.
