Happy Birthday, buddy! Mine's December 6.
Anyway, 21 years of Power Rangers. I remember seeing MMPR Episode 1 when it first aired and I was immediately hooked. HOLY CRAP ARE WE ALL OLD!!!!

As with a few others, I don't remember quite how it worked for me either. But once it started! I remember though that my first VHS was "Happy Birthday Zack" (Nasty Knight's episode), and from then on it just took off gradually. I still have many of my old tapes and even some on record. I do remember talking with some guys who thought that the promotional image of Thuy on a tape box was a guy (naturally, we didn't know of Zyuranger, but its funny to think how close that was). My first zords were the Assault Team and first Megazord was the Ninja or Shogun Megazord (one followed the other). The Falconzord came on Christmas, the Zeo Megazord and Red Battlezord came on a birthday, and I believe I can date the first time I saw one of my uncles because I know I was watching the Zeo episode "Inner Spirit" that day. The Turbo Megazord and Robo Racer came after one surgery and the Mega Voyager and Mega Winger came after another. I had a lot of difficulty in watching the show because for years I would go to a daycare/preschool after school and the owner was not always on good terms with the show. I know I got scolded for looking at some of the older ones watching an episode, which I believe was Season One's "Second Chance". I also remember just standing and staring at Machine Monster Silo's first episode and was a little terrified when Rito destroyed the Thunderzords. I even remember being at Baskin-Robbins and telling a local reporter about going and watching PR later. I believe I did see part of "The Wedding" during that time. This also reminds me of how my youth incorrectly thought that regular Fox was a cable station (which we didn't have at that time). I would actually see many of them on Saturday Mornings at an Aunt's house. I could rant for hours on this. Despite some of the headaches, I'll always hold a fondness for PR in my heart, and how my father can still remember just who Goldar is!

Today is a historic day for American tokusatsu fans.
August 28th 1993 was the day that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers premiered! What began as an adptation of 1 Japanese super hero program (Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger) eventually blossomed in to a multi year franchise that's one of the most successful and lasting brands out there! Take some time out of your day today to celebrate Power Rangers' coming of age with us. Share your favorite moment, character, design, series, whatever. Today we remember the awesome franchise we have, and look forward to what it could be! Favorite moment: I gotta admit, the Super Samurai final battle. I was so hooked. Literally, hooked. Character: Jason from MMPR and Zeo Design: The Zeo team Series: Dino Thunder

I remember being a little kid and watching MMPR on Fox Kids in 1993 and getting a Morphin Action Green Ranger and later Ninjor and a Zeonizer.

Truth be told, when MMPR came on TV, I was 14 and was just coming off of my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan phase as it were, feeling it was no longer interesting, and Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis video game related stuff as well as Japanese anime were my thing now.
When I first saw an episode of MMPR, I scoffed at it thinking it was a bad attempt at a Voltron live-action show, a show I was also a fan of as a kid. However, when we got to the 'Green with Evil' saga, I actually started to watch and found myself enjoying that. So occasionally I would tune into the show afterwards here and there, but again, I felt I was 'too cool' for the goofy show at the time, though I did buy a few Megazords over time with money I earned at jobs. It wasn't until I'd say Lost Galaxy where I actually started to watch the show a bit more with interest, paying attention to the plot. Dino Thunder and S.P.D. I recall quite vividly out of all them. Recently I watched all of MMPR's three seasons on Netflix actually and found while it is still silly, it has a charm to it. I like Bulk and Skull's silly antics as well as the dynamic between the Season One cast and felt the cast lost something when Jason, Zack, and Trini left. Anyway, happy 21st MMPR!
