The Ex-Aid candy toys are great. For this kind of toy they are well sculpted, have high articulation, better sticker quality, and even have a surprising amount of paint...but they could have more. Especially the Level 1s. So let's jump right in.
Ex-Aid and Brave Level 1 Black and silver paint makes all the difference. I did take the leg stickers off and painted those details. Only stickers left are eyes and chest. I also changed all black to flat rather than glossy like originally painted to make the black uniformed. Here's a couple of WIP pics I took of Brave mostly done next to an Ex-Aid I hadn't touched yet. Ex-Aid and Brave Level 2 On the Level 2, the main thing missing was the black and whites not covering the full areas they should. Mainly noticeable in the arms, both Ex-Aid's and Brave's biceps had no paint. I added the black and white to complete those areas while again uniforming the colors. Ex-Aid also now has a painted neck and belt. The white stickers on Brave have been replaced with paint. Brave's collar and back of his helmet are white now as well. Also painted the soles of the shoes silver, though they could use a few more layers. There's a few other details on both like the black on the chest plate and shoes. It's mostly little things. The only major thing I can't currently paint that I want to is Brave's gloves, which are meant to be the same blue as his armor. I just don't have a good blue for that right now. I really want to paint them because while doing these customs I really took a good look at the designs. Brave has a hidden surgeon motif to his costume that I never really noticed until I realized the hands on this toy are the wrong color. And finally some bonus images of Level 1 and 2 with each other. Not shown above, I painted the Gashat slots on the weapons. |

Level 1 Updates, Lazer, and Snipe
Laser Level 1 is currently using a Lvl1 body without a sticker as I wanted to leave one generic until we know how many Level 1s the line will have. If I'm one Lvl1 body short, then Laser and Ex-Aid can share (they have the same chest plate). For the custom, I painted in everything I did on Ex-Aid and Brave and then found more details I had missed. Snipe's face was pretty fun to paint with all the tech detailing. Laser's weapons were casted in yellow, so some of that is still coming through in pictures. Laser Level 2 I normally don't care about the bikes...and kind of still don't, but knowing that this will transform into a Rider once wave 3 is out pushed me to go ahead and paint this one up. Mostly just added the missing silver and black. Level 2 Snipe and Genm Pretty much did what I did on Ex-Aid and Brave last time except now I've removed part of the forearm stickers and painted those areas. I painted Snipe's weapons before adding the stickers so the plastic colors matched. Gemn was light due to being the mostly black Rider, but I did paint a lot of the Bugvisor. Level 2 Brave Update Blue hands! Also removed most of the forearm stickers and painted those areas (did the same to Ex-Aid). Not much else here. |
