Typical Bandai of America looking stuff, but a good look nonetheless. What do you folks think? Odd that Trini is not in Wave 1, her spot being filled with Alpha 5. Assuming the next wave will have Trini, Rita, and some monsters or Putty Patrollers.

They look like Happy Meal Toys. Those are just awful. Not to mention there's only like 5 points of articulation on them. Bandai's toys from back in 1995 had more posseability than these guys, which is really sad.
Oh yeah, and I figured out what Alpha looks like to me. Anyone familiar with Baba Yaga's chicken house? Well Alpha looks like the house that would belong to an alien Baba Yaga. |

FWIW, they have 9 POA (ball joint head, universal joint shoulders, swivel elbows, ball joint legs, swivel knees), which I think is typical for BOA style Ranger figures at this size. Clearly these are meant for the kids.

THat's not right. My Ninja Red figure has neck swivel, balljoint shoulders, a bend at the elbow, glove rotation, ball jointed legs, a bend at the knee, and boot swivel.
That's 13 points. Still not great, but it also doesn't look like a playschool toy. |

Playshool, Happy Meal, Dr. Kain just knockin' it out of the park with the lamebrain, circa 2006 fan complaints. Just can't get enough of those generic knee-jerk descriptors.
But seriously, I think the figures look alright as toys to play with for kids, the problem is the difficult source material. The detail of the movie suits is lost when turned into small plastic form because there's just so much of it at a small scale, and little colour difference over large areas. The figures still look like shit for collectors, but I have a hard time imaging how they couldn't. |

I'm with Split Lip, these are clearly kids toys, and on that level I am fine with them.

Well, I wouldn't say I'm fine with them, but as a kid I could do way more with 9 points than five points. 5POA figures are basically useless, but at least 9POA/13POA figs can be posed in your hands in semi-convincing ways. They're functional as toys.
If my child self saw these, though, he'd probably be unenthused. I really liked when details were painted or different colours, but I'd play with them for sure. |

These have 9 points though? Elbows (2), shoulders (2), hips(2), knees(2), head(1)?
They don't look any worse than the other PR figures being released these days. I'm not sure what you guys were expecting? The suits look fine as action figures too. Alpha 5, on the other hand...I'm still trying to process.

They're fine, but I'm not really a fan of them simply due to suit design.
That said, the dudes aren't giant beefcakes, which kind of annoys me. Now they decide to become more accurate to what's on screen...Not the legacy line, where they still have impossible muscle detailing, but here.
