Senpuujin
Senpuujin is a good enough looking main mecha. I don't think it's that spectacular compared to other main mechas but it's still solid enough. Senpuujin has a pretty good colour balance going on, mostly yellow and blue with a few bits of red which helps make the chest and head stand out. Design wise though, I think this is when Sentai mechas really started to look, for lack of a better term plasticky. Like you can really tell that this was made to be a toy design first. Sentai mechas beforehand did have this element about them too but I feel that post Hurricanger, this became really apparent. That isn't to say the designs are bad, it's just merely a differences I noticed in terms of aesthetic. Senpuujin design is still fine enough, I like the sort of asymetrical design going on with the arms, and the head looks really nice as it conveys that ninja look while still looking like something that can be worn into battle. Of course I have to mention the Karakuri Balls, which is sort of the main gimmick of the Hurricanger mechas. I won't conver them that much since for the most part, they are just weapons, but I will say that Senpuujin probably has the most interesting weapons out of all the mechas since not only can some of them combine with each other, but one of them even makes use of the lion mane on his shoulder which is cool. Senpuujin Hurrier Hurrier mode is a neat thing that Senpuujin can do. It suits Hurricanger ninja theme more than regular Senpuujin does which I'm guessing is suppose to be the point. Plus it gets these cool looking blades that for some reason Senpuujin never uses in his regular form. The only thing I think they could improve about Hurrier mode is the head. It's the exact same head as regular Senpuujin which looks a little weird with how much the entire body has changed. They could of change the head to look a bit slimmer, just to keep with the aesthetic. Gouraijin There are a number of things design wise that I like about Gouraijin especially when you compare it to Senpuujin. While similar in many, both Gouraijin and Senpuujin have many differences in their aesthetic. For one, Gouraijin's Shinobi Machines have a more vehicle like look to them unlike Senpuujin's Shinobi Machines which emphasizes the animal aspect a bit more. Colour wise, Gouraijin has way darker colours than Senpuujin, which aesthetic wise makes sense considering that the Gouraigers themselves had darker colours than the Hurricangers. Finally and most obviously, Gouraijin is insects based whereas Senpuujin is more based on mammals. These aesthetic differences are nice and help make Gouraijin feel like a mecha that's specific to the Goraigers. I also like that the beetle motif is still present in Gouraijin, with the head having the kabuto horn and the kuwaga pincers becoming part of the chest plate. The only thing that's puzzling to me is their weapon. Who decided that their main weapon should be the cartoonish looking Plant Axe. Gourai Senpuujin A really cool combination. I like how a lot of the design and details on Gourai Senpuujin were things that were already present on Senpuujin and Gouraijin, but have now been shifted around to complety new areas. The most evident of this is the lion head, which has gone from the shoulder to being the main chest piece. Same thing with Gouraijin whose legs have become the new arms and vice versa with the torso. Fuuraimaru is a cool concept and a neat way to incorparate the Karakuri Balls into the mechas, plus the gold hands and cresent moon head he forms look quite nice. The only issue I've got with Gourai Senpuujin is really the legs. I really hate it in combinations when they simply just put stuff under the legs, never bothering to make that stuff look like actual feet or bothering to cover up the original feet. This just results in the mecha looking like it's standing on platforms. Tenkuujin Like with Gouraijin, there's a lot of things about Tenkkujin aesthetic wise that help separate him from either Senpuujin and Gouraijin. The most obvious difference is that it's a single transforming mecha instead of being a combination. It's also the most vehicle like out of all the Shinobi Machines, with the only hint of an animal motif being the cockpit. The giant shuriken on the front is a pretty eye catching part of it's design since not only is it the main chest piece, it also partially becomes part of the head. This is in addition to it being the helicopter blades in vehicle form and it can also be wielded as weapon. That's a lot of functions for one piece. Another neat thing about the shuriken is that it creates this illusion of Tenkuujin being bigger than he actually is. Without the shuriken, Tenkuujin is easily the most slim looking of the three main mechas, almost on par with Senpuujin Hurrier. It's a really cool aspect about Tenkuujin design that I don't think been replicated in other mechas Tenkuu Senpuujin/Gouraijin/ Gourai Senpuujin Tenkuujin has a lot of combinations with the Hurricanger mechas, most of which are kinda simple so I'm grouping them in one place. Senpuujin and Gourai Senpuujin simply get Tenkuujin as an arm which I'm not gonna lie, seeing this gigantic helicopter attached to them looks both intimidating and ridiculous. Gouraijin combination is a little more interesting, with Tenkuujin creating these giant shoulder cannon with his feet. It flows together a little more nicely plus no big components have to be taken off with the exception of the chest piece. Tenrai Senpuujin The first time we have three individual mechas coming together in one big combination. Tenrai Senpuujin is, for the most part just Gourai Senpuujin with the exception of new head and hands, and having the entirety of Tenkuujin as the chest piece. I mentioned how the shuriken on Tenkuujin is a major part of its design and it's no different here. It's such an eye catching piece and combine with the much more ornate head design which by the way looks really cool, Tenrai Senpuujin gives off a very intimidating aura. The shurken isn't just for show either considering it's used in the finisher create and fire a friggin tornado. The only real sour point about Tenrai Senpuujin is that it ends up leaving a couple of parts off, most notable the entirety of Hurricane Dolphin which makes me wonder how Hurricane Blue is even in the cockpit with everyone else Revolver Gourai Senpuujin/Tenrai Senpuujin Revolver Mammoth, the big carrier mech for Hurricanger. It's a nice looking silver mammoth I'll say but besides that, it doesn't really do a whole lot with the other mechas since all they do is just sit on its back. What it does do however all centers around Karakuri Balls since not only does can it store multiple of them, but it can even launch them. Most of the weapons in the Karakuri Balls can even attach to Revolver Mammoth which admitedly looks a little silly. Thematically, Revolver Mammoth heavy use of the Karakuri Balls makes sense considering that as the final mech of the show, it should be a culimination of the wide line gimmick. Gourai Senpuujin Sword and Shield I wonder if this combination was actually intentional or just something that happened by complete accident since the toys can actually pull this combination off due to them sharing the same pegs. There ultimately not much to say about this combination since it's all stuff we've seen before. It's always cool though when two mechas from two different series interact with each other in some way. Being a Liveman tribute to a degree I really dig the original spin it took with the bird of prey, lion, and dolphin motifs. Hurrier was a nice little gimmick and was Faiz Accel Form and Kabuto's Rider Form before Faiz Accel Form and Kabuto's Rider Form were a thing.
Personally I LOVE LOVE LOVE Gouraijin and the individual components. They black base coat complete with gold trimmings and parts of crimson/navy for each of the machines are perfect and overall just drips Japanese Wa. Gourai Senpuujin is just a perfect match and tones down the excessive blue on Senpuujin and the Gourai machines do wonders. The Hurricane Lion head being in the center is also nice. Furauimaru I think was a nice little gimmick. Tenkuujin is just meh but I do love the attack chopper look it is going for. And then there is Tenrai Senpuujin. The addition of tenkuujin to the mold helps brighten the color palette and just is the perfect amount of clutter and not a bunch of vehicles mashed together. If Gouraijin dripped Japanese Wa, Tenrai Senpuuin is a sub-zero waterfall of Japanese Wa until Shinkenger's Origamis and Go-onger's Enjin Daishogun stole their thunder but hey, they did well for a good 6~7 years or so. Revolver Mammoth? I think it tried a little too hard to fill the void of King Brachion but ehh, no complaints it is what it is.

Anyway, this was another show that never really wowed me with the mecha. Senpuujin looks okay, but I'm not a big fan of situations where over half of the combined mode is just one of the base robots. Gouraijin is probably my favorite; the matching colors and motifs works really well. I do like their combined form, too, but I really dislike anything involving Tenkuujin. |

Wait, you're right, it actually is slimmer. Wow, I really should've of looked at these images more closely while writing this.

Looking at it now, I kinda wish they had released a chogokin version of Hurrier if there was enough demand when they pumped out Hurricanger figuarts.
