I'll probably pick up 2 sets since they're on sale. If they show up before the sale ends. Though they'll be part of my Zyuranger display. It's nice to have a small representation to go with figures. I did want to display them with ranger keys, but the zyuranger keys are much too expensive. Even for the 3 I'm missing. This will be a nice alternative. If I had more money I'd buy all the OOO masks. I think they've made a lot more rider masks than Sentai.

You see that would make sense to me, if I could get a complete set of every helmet then I reckon that'd be a pretty rockin' little display. But just of the six MMPR helmets (for some reason White Ranger isn't included)? This is clearly for the MMPR nostalgia fan and very few people else.

In Japan, all 36 of the Red Masks were available and were blind-packed into little boxes.
Internationally, all that are being released are the 6 Zyu/MMPR masks. I sorta agree it's a bit pointless, in Japan, part of the pull was collecting them and the end result is an impressive display that celebrates all 36 seasons, rather then just 6 masks with nothing else to go with. I wanted to collect the 36 Masks, but they're pretty darn pricey now, especially for popular seasons. |

I can see the appeal of this set. Yes it is intended for a specific audience, but i dont think thats a bad thing. These will look sweet next to my figuarts. While it would be nice to have all the masks in the same manner as japan, that would be a waste for bandai. Lets be honest, the only Power ranger seires that has any amount of weight behind it is MMPR, simply cause of the huge nostalgia factor. Bandai played it safe and went with MMPR cause of that, if it sells they might make more but I doubt it.

MMPR is the only one with weight, because it's the only one this 'twenty years of Power Rangers' anniversary has been pushing. There are many seasons loved by fans, and non fans, alike and I find it very frustrating that one of the worst iterations of the franchise is getting the majority of the push simply on the principle of those who hate the franchise but bum MMPR because they watched it as kids, and 90stalgia is cool right now.

I just honestly don't see the point. They're small, overpriced, and you cant do anything with them. Figures I can justify. You can pose them, pool around with them on your desk. But little plastic helmets are a little harder when you're on a budget.

If it included Rio and Mele, I'd have them before they were even released.

$5 a helmet doesn't seem overpriced considering the BoJ box sets factored out to the same price (well, sans shipping & current aftermarket). I don't know, people say the same thing about DC Direct/Collectibles figures and it's a personal thing I justify by I'm not a fan of Mattel's sculpts.
It'd be pretty sweet if BoA could release the HDM figures here (or whatever the sentai equivalent was called) |
