Minato's sullenly looking at Glion @ 03:09. It seems like he does secretly harbors resentment toward Glion. A powerful manipulator like Glion is bound to be resented by the victims, especially by those who are weaker than he is. Glion is not only a manipulator, but an overt manipulator, that is a manipulator whose actions are plainly laid out in front of his victim (Minato). I'd like to see Glion's contingency plans. He should have plan B, plan C, or even plan D in the case that those who he's manipulating are attempting to break free and eventually turn against him.
Or perhaps Glion's contingency plan is to simply Neuralyze Minato, just like what he did to the AU's top brasses? After all, he could Neuralyze the whole of the AU's top hierarchy, so merely Neuralyzing Minato is nothing to him. If so, then why hasn't he Neuralyzed Minato already? If he could Neuralyze all the top brasses and framed Fuga with total impunity, why doesn't he Neuralyze Minato and make him his perfect puppet, just like he made the top brasses his puppets? Why does he wait until Minato betrays him? And inversely, why doesn't Minato Neuralyze or at least attempts to Neuralyze Glion? This is why memory manipulation is often a badly used trope, especially when done with impunity like this. Memory manipulation equals character manipulation, because a character's characterization, motives, goals, and other essential traits are contained within his memories. A new memory = A new character. Memory manipulation is basically the writers' dirty hands granted to several key characters to conveniently advance (or rather: manipulate) the plot as they see fit, and to contrive/overcomplicate/convolute an otherwise simple, straightforward plot in a forced, unnatural, nonsensical way. A character with memory manipulation ability is basically granted a God-level power because he's virtually the manifestation of God himself (the writer). If several key characters can manipulate other characters' memories with impunity (and very often at the most convenient moments), then no one's safe from manipulation. Kajiki might be a prodigy alchemist who was Neuralyzed by another character. Heck, Glion could've been manipulated by another manipulator who was manipulated by another manipulator who was manipulated by another manipulator, and so on, ad infinitum. Who knows where it ends. It's turtles all the way down. It's an infinite regress. Rinne states @ 06:32 that Kamen Rider is a legend in the alchemy world, a title used by the Alchemist of Dawn who appeared 120 years ago. This is a new information. I previously thought that the Alchemist of Dawn was just a super powerful alchemist who only used his bare hands like Fuga did. But this statement by Rinne reveals that the Alchemist of Dawn very likely used a Driver as well. Soooo, my hypothesis in episode 12 here about the existence of the Gotchardriver's predecessor is actually plausible. My gut feeling says that this predecessor Driver was probably involved in the fated event a decade ago where a group of alchemists (Glion and several other unseen conspirators?) attempted to use it to open the door of darkness (the permanent portal to the Ouroboros world?), and after that incident it was either lost, hidden, damaged, and or destroyed by a sabotageur (?) which could've been Fuga or Houtarou's dad. I have a hypothesis that the Gotchadriver was created to gather data from a powerful prodigy alchemist (Houtarou) who has a genuine connection with Chemies, with the end goal of (secretly) restoring/recreating this predecessor Driver which had the ultimate power to perform perfect alchemical manipulation at element level (the 4 classical elements of alchemy (fire, water, air, earth), and aether/the fifth element). Unlike the Gotchardriver and its variants which still require the use of 2 RCC's to perform alchemical tricks, this predecessor Driver was very likely soooo powerful that it only required one ultimate RCC or even no RCC's at all. This predecessor Driver would virtually grant God mode to its user. What was its name? Alchemis Driver is already taken. Akatsuki Driver? Dawn Driver? Ouroboros Driver? Elemental Driver? Deus Driver? Godchardriver? Haha. Glion states @ 09:54 that The Sisters are alchemy dolls that are programmed according to his will to fulfill his plans, such as when they turned humans into silver Malgams and when they hunted Fuga when Glion was absent. This makes them closer to automatons than slaves. I think their existential crisis will begin when Glion dies, thus making them masterless automatons wandering aimlessly in search of meaning, similar to the premise of the video game NieR: Automata (2017). Glion also states @ 10:25 that it was Fuga who not only defeated him but also incapacitated him for a decade. So, my question in previous threads about the reason behind his disappearance in the first 15 episodes is pretty much answered in this episode, although I prefer it to be answered in a "show, don't tell" manner, not through an infodump like this, haha. Last week I hypothesized that all of Houtarou's RCC's (barring Steamliner) would be confiscated by Minato after he's defeated by KR Dread who got a new armor, but it turns out I was completely wrooooooong, haha. It turns out his RCC's are snatched by Pteranodon Malgam who has the ability to create warpholes similar to the ones created by Shiori in episode 12. The Malgam doesn't even need to make Houtarou and the others transform. It's unfortunate because the subplot in this episode would've been better if Minato were the one who ruthlessly beat up Houtarou, and only after that Pteranodon Malgam does his part to vacuum Houtarou's RCC's into the warpholes. After all, this episode is supposed to be Minato's focus episode. And it seems like Kamen Riders since the beginning of the trinket-based Drivers (2009) have never learned their lesson. So kids, the moral lesson in this episode is the good ole investing adage: "Never put all your eggs in one basket." Haha. The cool thing in this episode is the reveal that the user of the Dreadriver can actually insert 2 Repli CC's to transform and grant him with a new armor part. I didn't see it coming because I thought that the Unicon Repli CC was gonna be inserted into the Drain slot. Oh, and it seems like attaching a Chemy directly onto a Driver (without the use of RCC), using 1 slot, and inserting 2 CC's into 1 slot are considered forbidden techniques with much greater risk, not normal techniques. What does Glion mean when he says that he holds Minato's heart @ 16:29? Who is this Daiki Suzuya person who Glion says was killed by Minato a decade ago? From the preview, he seems like a junior student who was a close friend of Minato, along with Kyouka. He was likely also got involved in the fated event a decade ago and got killed after it. My hypothesis is that Minato was the one who gave him recommendation to participate in the grand alchemy experiment that day that eventually ended in total disaster, so Minato had indirectly made him a collateral damage of the incident. His death probably created a rift in the friendship between Minato and Kyouka. I think Glion is using Minato's guilt to manipulate him. It seems like Minato's situation is simpler than I previously thought. KR Valvarad is already overwhelmed by the new KR Dread. Who is the myterious man who appears @ 19:57? From the preview, it's very likely that he's Fuga. Is he the one who upgrades Houtarou's Ring from blue gem with silver shank straight to red gem with golden shank. Or perhaps he only lends his Ring to Houtarou? Can an alchemist's Ring be used by another alchemist? Tenliner is indeed Steamliner's level 10 evolved form created by Houtarou with the use of his new Ring. Though, it's unknown whether it will stay as Tenliner forever of whether it can revert back to Steamliner. Does Machwheel revert back to Madwheel? And yes, Houtarou only needs Tenliner RCC and Tenliner attachment to transform into KR Iron Gotchard. The shape of KR Iron Gotchard looks fine to me. What's kinda weird is the color scheme. The light blue just doesn't mix well with the other colors (pearl white/silver base suit and black armors with golden trims). It's fine when combined with the pearl white/silver of the base suit, but it's weird when it's combined with the black and golden of the armors. The Tenliner attachment is nice, though. I prefer a multi-gimmick toy that functions as both vehicle toy and DX Driver attachment like this DX Tenliner, or DX X Gotchalibur that functions as DX weapon toy and DX Driver attachment, compared to Alchemis Unit and Gotchar Igniter that can only function as Driver attachment. Next week: Fuga reappears again, after his reappearance in the winter collab film. How many tricks does this man have up his sleeves? His true motive is still full of cryptic messages. KR Iron Gotchard is similar to KR Geats Boost Mk.II form, in the sense that it strains the user's body, although I think KR Iron Gotchard has a more sensical build up. Aptly titled "The Young Teacher's Past Mistake", this episode will delve deeper into Minato's backstory, what happened in his past, his connection to the fated event a decade ago, and what was the mistake that triggered his guilt, although I think it feels too short and too rushed. P.S.: I've got a sudden epiphany that KR Gotchard Steamhopper form having a goggle could be a dead giveaway that Houtarou's dad was the one (or one of the several prominent alchemists) who invented the blueprints for the Gotchardriver. He might be as skillful as or even more skillful than Fuga is. He (and probably also Fuga) was likely the first alchemist who discovered the existence of the Ouroboros world as the source of alchemy. If so, then kid Houtarou goofing around with Hopper1 and Steamliner in the Ouroboros world in episode 18 makes total sense. Being a child prodigy who is also the son of a powerful alchemist, Houtarou had been immersed in alchemy since a very young age. That explains his seemingly instant familiarity with alchemy despite only knowing alchemy for several weeks since episode 1. So, every time Houtarou proudly proclaims that he's gonna be the next hotshot alchemist, he's actually telling the truth because he was once already on the path to become one, haha. |
