Need these, I will. Pick up the Complete Selection Double Driver, I should. Despite the fact that I got the Super Best Double Driver two weeks ago.

I really think a Complete LostDriver should come with the hat.

What exactly is the difference between the super best and the complete selection double driver and which is better?

I already said last page, but I'll go into more detail this time.
Super Best (W/Decade Drivers) are the standard, deluxe (but child sized) Drivers that are rereleased with in Decade's case, more cards (all the Final Attack Ride cards) and all the cards are plastic coated. In Ws case, you get not only Cyclone, Heat, Luna and Joker Gaia memories, but you also get Metal and Trigger as well, removing the need to purchase the Metal Shaft and the Trigger Magnum. The CS belts, which have been released off and on for years now, are aimed at adult collectors. Larger in size, not only the belt, but the driver itself, as well as more diecast metal. Off the top of my head, Kuuga, (maybe Agito), Ryuki, Faiz, and Den-O have received the CS treatment. The belts are larger and capable of fitting an adult in most cases, up to a 40 inche waist. These belts are pricey though, and only increase as times goes on. Also, it should be noted that apparently, a Super Best K-Touch is being releasedas as well, it's only bonus item being Decade Complete's card, which is a bummer, because they could have included Diend's punch sequence card too, as a nice bonus. -------------------------------- Brainchild, thanks for the headsup. I wasn't aware of the Double CS Driver being released. It makes sense though, what with the Lost Drivers and such. I'm just wondering if the memories for these will be larger. They also need to do this for Decade as well... |

This new designation of CS belts is to denote the fact that, unlike actual CS belts, CS Modification belts are higher-grade improvements of the DX belts. The CSM Double Driver has an entirely new belt, sculpted so that when worn it appears show-accurate, with added sculpting all over. I would think there is more paint in certain parts as well, but I don't own the belt or have a comparison gallery to link to. The Maximum Drive slot looks nicer as well, with an actual window for seeing the Memory inside, and not just open to air - again, maybe the DX version had that too, but I didn't think it did. The Gaia Memories in the set have the same glittery look of the stickers that were included to apply to the Complete Selection Gaia Memory sets but are preapplied. The thing is, as a Complete Selection Modification, the driver is more or less the DX version. There's no change in scale to make it more adult-size like Complete Selection belts do. The new belt is adjustable so I assume it's adult-size regardless, but I haven't seen any change in size in the driver itself and it remains compatible will all previous Gaia Memories. That's what makes the Modification belts different. Bandai makes them prettier, maybe changes some materials like the Accel Driver's handlebars, adds more detail and presumably fit an adult out of the box, but they're not the Complete Selection releases of old that go all-out and use entirely new molds to recreate the show appearance.

Well, yesterday when the news was posted, it was just the regular Complete Selection. Apparently "Modification" was added overnight, hence my confusion.
Seems kind of pointless to make such minor changes and call it two different classes of belts, especially when previously there was a class that offered an even better product with a similar name. Regardless, thanks for the clarification. |

It's incredibly obvious why Bandai went the Modification route - it's a hell of a lot cheaper. Complete Selection belts cost hundreds of dollars, even when they were new. Retooling existing DX belts and considering them "good enough" since collectors are willing to accept minor differences in scale is a hell of a lot cheaper, and it's reflected in the prices. It also means not having to redo dozens of collectible items, since that's the trend now, so that people can use their old Memories (and probably Medals and Switches and Rings to come...) with their new, improved belts. Super Best is a bunch of glorified DX reissues and are even cheaper, so they can still be appealing to retailers.

Oh sure, absolutely. Cheaper is better. It's the naming convention I don't like because of the confusion.
Though just by your statement on the CSM W Driver and the SB Double Driver, it's not that much of a difference to me to not justify a SB purchase instead. I'd love to get a full set of Decade cards a la Blade and Ryuki's sets, but that worked with the DecaDriver that's out now, SB or otherwise. Make it happen Bandai. |
