English born and raised on the east coast. Have followed this site for a long time now but not been in a position to talk with people. Now I have my own computer and internet the time is right to let myself be known.
I suffer from depression and have done for a long time. My life has taken a dark turn now, as early morning last Tuesday my Mum died, from sepsis brought on by a low immune system post-covid and the return of lymphoma which she had been clear of for five years. She was my best friend and my rock and her absence was sudden. I now find myself lost, and have sought solace in looking back over my life up until this point and the interests and pastimes I have enjoyed. I can in total honesty say that I had a perfect childhood in which I could find no fault and would change nothing. Part of it was the original Power Rangers. I remember Mighty Morphin starting and catching parts of episodes of that first season during the first year, but it was the second one that drew me in. I watched the premiere of season two here in the UK, Saturday Morning 08:55 on GMTV and the rest is history. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was my first true craze and I passionately enjoyed every moment of the next three years, watching Season One upon its first repeat and watching religiously until the end of Zeo. Saw the movie transition into Turbo but could never get into the series. Watched the premiere of In Space then caught parts of episodes throughout until watching the finale, and with it the end of the original era. I have kept in contact with the show near enough ever since, watching both the opening and closing episode/story of most series just to know where the franchise was going and how much it changed. Saw more of some series than others but never fully watched the show again. Of course had a collection built over those four years throughout middle school, with the big things being either birthday or christmas presents. Ended up with the complete Zord systems for those first three seasons and the majority of the Evil Space Aliens, then of course the Rangers themselves both auto-morphin and action feature. Last significant thing I ever got was the Deluxe Zeo Megazord. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a lot of the new releases near around the time of the twentieth anniversary, Legacy versions of those past Zords and later Chogokin versions of the first three alongside the FiguArts of the original team and now monsters and villains in the Lightning Collection. Never would have imagined all those years ago that the show I loved as kid would be so acknowledged and so prominent, and that I would get the chance to relive those days with new versions of those long since gone toys that I of course grew up and moved away from. Having Power Rangers back in my life has made a big difference to my mindset, and with the exception of Jason David Frank's passing, has been something that has brought me escapism and the nearest I have felt to joy in some time. Apologies for such a long-winded monologue, glad to be in a place where I can share memories and experiences with others who enjoy sharing their memories and experiences of this franchise and the franchise that brought it into being, thankyou for reading. |

Hey, the name's NiamherDreams, or just Niamh for short. Been enamored with Toku since I saw Kamen Rider Gaim in 2019. Mostly a fan of Rider but I've been expanding my horizons recently with Shinkenger and Ultra Q.
