That is fair enough, but it seems to pay - in my mind at least - to at least have one or two duplicates of the parts of the suit which take the most amount of contact like the chest armour or whatever.

Wow Eubulon may well be the single most terribly written character in the history of my adult TV watching life. He systematically undermined the entire TV show simply by being alive. He can literally break, change and alter every core rule of the show to however he sees fit, it's disgusting. It feels like the writers were put into the corner by the suits and they had to invent a magic wand to bend the show to however they wanted it to play out. When Eubulon wasn't being a cancer, the rest of the episode played out like insulting fan fiction as written by a 12 year old that had only seen a handful of episodes. It was awful.

I watched this show what, 2010? First year of Uni? I honestly don't remember much about this show's second half and it's been an amazing disappointment honestly. I've had more fun than I haven't on this wild ride, but the show in my past was one I remembered being a whole lot better than this. This new development, Master Eubulon, is a character I totally forgot even existed who has take this show in a very different direction, very late in the game and a part of me wishes I could just headcanon him from existence. Maybe that is why I forgot he existed in the first place. Saying that though, there are parts of this new development I really like. Giving actors the chance to play new characters, their mirror doubles, gave the actors a chance to do some new, exciting daring things and also allowed the writers to play off of the characters we know in fun and inventive ways. The episode mostly focused around Hunt - Danny was a character I never much cared for until his brother got Vented but then just as his story got interesting he also got Vented - so it's nice his Ventara counterpart is this badass lone wo...Tiger () who can perfectly stand on his own two feet. Guess I need to get myself a Tiger SHF to go with my Zolda and Strike Figma. So we never actually got to see Earth Axe use his Final Vent, so I was kinda excited to see it, but WOW that sucked. Especially when used alongside the ridiculous overkill of the Survive Final Vents, Survive Adam is pretty boss.

Just started watching Decade myself, and wow, it's certainly going places...I like the action at least, even if I wanna roll my eyes at the whole amnesiac, but still remembers how to fight right off the bat. (I don't think amnesia works like that, but hey, it's probably special plot amnesia)
As for the characters, they weren't kidding about nick-naming the show Dickeido. Tsukasa's a jerk, Yusuke is a jerk, and I agree with Locke about almost missing old Yusuke, who I hated. Natsumi's a jerk too, though that may be my own bias against female characters that use physical violence as threats, god that kind of stuff made me hate things like the sterotypical Tsundere. |

Currently watching Kamen Rider Gaim and Fourze.
Funny how the space themed series is far less serious in tone than the fruit themed one. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Also, planning on watching Ryuki sometime in the future, because where else can I find a Serial Killer Kamen Rider? |

Super-1 Episode 22: This was an amazing episode learning about General Megirl's background. Him being connected to the program that Kazuya was from and that being transformed is why he has his hatred and sadness makes him a very sympathetic and awesome villain. I felt bad for his lover searching for him for 5 years and then gets attacked because of Terror Macro. I love Kazuya in this episode saying that Dogma deserves to die for all the trouble they cause and I can't wait for him to fight Terror Macro.
Super-1 Episode 23:Well that was the first arc of Super-1 which this and the last episode were fantastic. Terror Macro got off his ass and fought even though he had an impenetrable body except for his Right Shoulder. It was great to see his Sensei and the others from his school help fight against Dogma. It's sad about everyone who died but it was great to see a motivated Kazuya kick their ass. Interesting to see that Terror Macro wasn't the big bad of Dogma and we have 4 new Generals. So for the first part of Super-1 I've learned that Dogma's technology was no where even close to as good as Super-1's.

I like how the show totally knows that Eubolon takes away all the stakes and tension, so now they have to keep artificially inserting bullshit to make the show actually worth watching. Honestly, from a narrative perspective, this episode was pretty awful. The introduction to the Onyx powers were terrible and it's just such a weird narrative device in general. Dragon Knight has been our protagonist for thirty episodes and then he dies. The user of those powers, Kit, comes back but suddenly he comes back using an entirely new set of powers. The show does its best to make sense of them but the explanations actually further confuse rather than clarify. Plus suddenly Dragon Knight belongs to another character who is an enemy. I mean why do that? Also whereas Hunt and Adam both feel like complete characters, firmly seperated from their Earth counterparts, Chance and Pryce just feel like watered down versions of the Earth Riders which is a disappointment. Especially as they were two of my favourite Riders and the ones I was most interested to see what they'd do with. The saving grace though, ironically perhaps, was the character interaction. Although they didn't do as much with characters as I would have liked the show still found really fun ways to play with the concept. "Not this again!" Other fun stuff included Maya Siren. I personally don't like this development for her character, but I can't deny that she is really badass. Similarly although I don't like Chance that much, I do LOVE the Torque powers and was glad to see the suit again.

DK 35. God fucking dammit, whether Danny or Hunt, Kamen Rider Axe is apparently always destined to get shut down just as I'm getting invested in him.
It's nice seeing Kase and Kit speaking on equal terms after she talked down to him so much at the beginning. I really much prefer this side of Kase, I mean what a babe. I'm still disappointed by how utterly she wasted she was, and Master Eubolon may be a frustrating magic wand but I'm glad they found a way to give her more scenes. Speaking of the Advent Master, the suit looks a lot better in motion than it does when he's just stood about in it but it still looks weirdly cheap and unfinished, which clashes with its role in the story. The action was pretty decent though, even if the editing is still baffling and shitty.

The Advent Master suit was actually Kamen Rider Alternative. In Ryuki, it was a man-made copy of the Rider powers, so everything about it was sort of rough and off from normal riders. The ports on the suit are triangles instead of circles, the deck is reversed, the cards "burn" away instead of going into a device, even the voice of the deck was a synthesized female voice.
Weird that they used a design that was intended to be "off" from the normal suits as the Advent Master. |
