It would be cool, but the MK series is unpopular in Japan. I think a series inspired by Japanese animation like the Netflix Castlevania series is more likely.

It doesn't have to necessarily be anime or anime styled but a new MK 2D animated series would be pretty cool to see. Especially if it's picked up by Netflix or Amazon, giving it the freedom to be as gory as they'd like.

I think something similar to the Netflix Castlevania series is more likely than a MK anime. The 90's MK animated series was awful because it was a shitty Saturday morning cartoon which does not work for MK.

The animated series worked so well! I mean it worked just as good as the RoboCop and Toxic Avenger animated series!

Too gorey, Japan doesn't like gorey violence. Similair to how America can be very prudish

Probably due to the fact that it's a western fighting game that is inspired by wuxia culture. I was told that Japan does not like when Asian culture is westernize. Even Avatar: The Last Airbender bombed in Japan.
Street Fighter appeals to Japan more given it has a anime art style to it and feels more closer to home to them. MK feels more like playing a live action Shaw Brothers movie. I doubt that is true. Look at the shit load of gory anime, manga, video games and live action movies that the country has made in the last 50+ years.
