Tamashii Nations teased a new action figure line today; it’s called "Imagination Works". Goku from Dragon Ball will be the first release.
Now, why is this interesting for us Toku fans? This seems to be a semi seamless figure - with flexible plastic or rubber concealing the joints beneath the arms and torso. If this is the case - Kamen Rider, Ultraman or other Toku heroes could very well be featured in this line too, considering the nature of their suits. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on. https://tamashii.jp/special/imaginationworks/ |

So...... mini Hot Toys? Dayum.
I can see Ultraman line being a killer, and maybe even a revival of Sentai Figuarts. Lol.

It... doesn't look much more seamless to me than an SHF.
Still, do we have any more information like pricing?

Curious to see how these turn out but those are some pretty obvious bicep swivels for a seamless figure.

1/9 scale huh... maybe this will be released after all.
Retooled of course, but the base is there. |

Does any one else remember the Twist Action figures? They were figures with an internal structure and a "skin". They looked good, but posability was just not there.

I've never been a fan of figures designed like this. The rubber always fights against the joints and leads to limited articulation.
I mean, I guess I'll place an asterisk and say that I haven't grabbed a figure designed like this in ages, so who knows. Perhaps they've made ones in more recent times with better plasticity to keep it from feeling like everything isn't fighting against you now.

Don't RAHs basically do this?

Pretty much. This seems like Bandai's attempt to dive into the 10 to 12-inch high end action figure market such as Hot Toys, 3A, and Medicom while keeping it relatively low budget. If so, this could be something great. I don't expect this to have figuarts prices, but if they give us a 10 to 12-inch figure around an average of 15000 JPY this could be something considering the figure still seems like all plastic and not actual cloth like RAHs.
