What kind of camera do you have? You should be fine as long as you have a hotshoe

Sony A5000 mirrorless camera. Unfortunately picked a camera that doesn't have a hotshoe. Didn't really know at the time.

so it would be a little more difficult to do, but you can actually trigger flashes with your pop up flash. you would need to like crank the flash compensation as low as possible and maybe try to cover it a bit so it doesnt let as much light out, but you would be able to optically trigger an external flash in slave mode.

Oh I wouldn't say they are that much better, yours are pretty good too! I've had the camera for about 1.5 years and it definitely takes practice and trial and error to figure out how to make photos turn out the way you want. I am still learning too! Haha.
