I love Kakuranger; it had comedy, drama, and a great/surprising ending.
Buckle up, lol |

We also learn how Kaku got the Byakko Shinken back and created the true peace treaty, requiring the Dairangers to disband and Kaku return to the side of Gouma. I do love this twist, but because I'm a bit too media savvy, I anticipated it ever since they revealed he had a secret path to the Gouma's base.

Engine Sentai Go-Onger episode 1 is done and wow I was laughing through most of it and loved every second. I grew up watching PR like many of us but seein the sentai counter-part to what could be considered one of the best written PR series to date makes me really happy especially laughing at the real reasons the cars had eyes XD

Anyway, 45, 45, and 47. The first 3 parts to the ending arc. Kaku reveals himself to be a Gouma, defecting 6000 years ago after they turned down his decision to no go to war with the Dai tribe, having only a few followers in agreement with him. One of those followers dies to the under informed Dairangers after he planted two antennae to channel YouRyoku and KiRyoku into Kaku's body. However, that information comes a little too late, as Kaku is hellbent on ensuring the Dairangers disband, stealing Kameo and Kou's RaiRai Jewels as well as the Kibachanger. The other Dairangers put up more of a fight, but they are soon beaten to unconsciousness as he takes the Aura Changers and their RaiRai Jewels as well. After receiving a call to arms from various sources, they all meet up at one of the antennae only to find Zaidos there to destroy it. Learning that Kaku plans to take leadership of Gouma and needs the antenna to accomplish it, the powerless Dairangers put up a fight to protect it. Meanwhile, the fight is soon to start between Kaku and Shadam... These 3 episodes are rather nice, setting up the high stakes as well as showing the resolve of our heroes. I dislike Kaku intentionally withholding information for the reason of "To keep our heroes from worrying," since it's a thin veil to keep the viewer out of the loop. I really would have preferred a stronger argument for why Kaku didn't just spill his plan since there isn't an actual reason for the Dairangers to not know.

The battle with the untransformed rangers and Zaidos is one of the best fights in the entire series.
BTW, I got lucky to see Dai well before I was able to find massive amounts of spoilers on it, so that could also be one of the reasons why it ended up being my top favorite Sentai series. I went in nearly blind with only knowing the bits from MMPR and that Kiba Ranger was a kid. |

Oh, god yes! It was built up so well, and the untransformed roll call/pose down sequence was breathtaking. The close-to-end-of-series "depowered heroes muster up the courage to fight to the bitter end, powers be damned" trope is one of my favorites, and it's particularly rousing in Dairanger.

Oh, definitely. I loved the untransformed fight. It's also so nice to see, especially when they opened with their full role call, too.
Anyway, episodes 48, 49, and 50. There's a lot that goes down. First is that the rangers put up a valiant effort, but without their powers, their KiRyoku is too weak to protect the antenna. However, through the lost allies they made (And Kameo), they are able to regain their determination and summon their Aura Changers and the RaiRai Jewels. Now back to their normal power, they confront Zaidos and defeat him. Volcano head goes down, but a strange occurrence happens and Zaidos turns to stone and crumbles. In the meantime, though, we lose Kaku, unable to defeat Shadam after losing both the antenna. The Dairangers don't have time to mourn their loss, as they have to infiltrate Gouma's base and defeat Shadam themselves now. Being intercepted by guards and Gara, Daigo and Rin split off to take her down themselves. However, a shocking revelation occurs once more! Gara is revealed to have died in the original war thousands of years ago, and the one we see is just a mud puppet like Zaidos. The original Gara's spirit arrives with Kujaku and they revert her back to clay, destroying her. Things seem to be looking up as they only have Shadam to deal with, but then those damn kids woke up DaiJinRyuu again. Pissed off, he guns straight for Gouma's base, not even wasting time as he opens fire. Before the Dairangers can engage Shadam, he quickly runs off to encounter Gouma the 15th and throws us another twist. In the original war, he died as well. With Gouma worrying that they can't operate without a leader, Shadam forged mud puppets of many Gouma, including their leader, Gouma the 15th. He immediately turns him back into a pile of mud to retrieve a powerful jewel and declares himself Gouma the 16th! With no time to spare, the Dairangers all meet up and begin their attack on Shadam. However, with this powerful jewel, he's more than a match, tossing them around easily. The Dairangers aren't about to quit, though, and continue their assault using the RaiRai Jewels to counter Shadam's, before Kaku's spirit appears before them all and orders them to cease fighting. Pointing out that destroying YouRyoku will destroy KiRyoku and that good and evil will always be two sides of the same coin, the RaiRai Jewels (Kameo's included) as well as the DaiChi Douten Jewel (Is that DaiJinRyuu's jewel?) shoot off into space, removing the Dairangers' powers and reverting Shadam back to his normal state. Gouma's base falls from the sky, and Shadam retreats. Ryou, however, is vying for revenge, chasing Shadam down and engages in a brief fight before one more twist is revealed. Shadam, the creator of the mud puppets, is himself a mud puppet! Deteriorating, he begs Ryou for help before he shatters to pieces. As the others had retreated, Gouma's base explodes. DaiJinRyuu retreats back into the sky as, from the ashes of the setting sun, we see Ryou survived. Gouma was destroyed, and now the Dairangers decide to disband to pursue their normal lives once more. However, all is not done, as during a Dairanger reunion 50 years later, we see that their grandchildren have taken up the mantle. With the return of the Gouma, we see a new set of Dairangers ready and eager to fight.
