Here's a one off I did a while back called Shiners, a parody of Cheers. Thought I'd make more but never did. I might use the setting in ATTF some day, so figure I might as well add it here.

I was planning on doing something special for #30, but there's a bigger project I want to work on for an issue a little further down the line, so here's a short one for #30.

I think I made myself sad with my own comic.

I have something to talk about below, but first a new comic.
Issue 37 of And Then They Fight will be something special, possibly the longest comic I've ever made. Before ATTF, I had a different comic called TAOWAR: The Adventures of W. and Raider. The first issue of And Then They Fight was actually meant as a special one shot of TAOWAR. In fact, the characters in that issue are major characters in TAOWAR. What does this have to be with issue 37 of ATTF? Well, I ended issue 36 of TAOWAR on a cliffhanger and that was the last issue. I want to fix that. Issue 37 of ATTF will also be issue 37 of TAOWAR. There is a problem with this, none of you guys have read TAOWAR and the places hosting the old comics are a mix of dead image hosts and dead forums. There is over 300 image files of TAOWAR in total, about half of which are the core story. So, with all of that said, I want to make TAOWAR available again before issue 37. Starting tomorrow, I will be posting one comic of TAOWAR a day. -It's worth noting that this comic was started in April of 2007, 11 years ago. Some images have degraded over the years and I will not be re-editing these comics beyond some cleaning and spelling errors. -I will be adding some commentary/notes below each comic of how I feel about them now. -I plan to only do story related comics for now. There were a lot of one off "Filler Funnies" and specials that have no bearing on the story. -At some point, I plan to turn the first post of the thread into an archive with direct image links to every comic image. This will be for both ATTF and TAOWAR to keep things organized. -I'm not skipping ATTF #34, 35, or 36. They will be either new comics as they come to me or I may re-edit a few of those Filler Funnies I don't plan to re-release at this time. -If you're wondering, Issue 37 is about halfway done and I just finished editing page 19. I told you it's going to be long. So, see you all tomorrow for my biggest and best mistake. |

The following is a forward used in old threads on old forums. I feel this is still the best way to tell how it all started. __________________________________ In the Begining: It all started in early 2007 when me, Archangel (my brother), and Star the Wanderer (one of our friends) was at Hero Hq (a local comic shop). The owner had gotten a ton of unsorted G.I. Joes stuff. As we were looking through them, Star and Arch found a Joe that looked like me (Outback), then Star found a Joe that looked like a young President George W. Bush (Crosshair). By the end of the day, we had so much fun with these figures that I decided to do a one shot comic with these two figures (and the Cobra-La Royal Guard), then it became a full comic series. While it was originally a simple joke comic, as time went on I added more story, action, and even some drama (also, my photo skills got better, but I'm not that good still). However, I keep the comedy in because I like fiction that can make fun of itself. I hope you enjoy! __________________________________ There is a wall of text below the comic to better talk about TAOWAR as a whole. All I want to add here is to say that this is a comic from over a decade ago and is a product of where I was at the time. I promise most posts won't be this long. Now, on to the comic. __________________________________ From this first comic, you may not see how this leads to a cliffhanger so big that I need to resolve it. To hopefully make this easier to understand, I'm going to compare this comic to Dragon Ball. From just the first episode of Dragon Ball, you'd never guess that the little kid with a tail would one day be fighting an alien land shark on a slug planet that's about to explode. Same principal here. While the comic was originally a simple joke comic as stated above, I added more to it over time. I like shonen anime, so I added flashy anime attacks. I like time travel, so there's a paradox in season 2. I like toku, so there's some transformations. I like character arcs, so there's some drama later on. I would like to note that these are old comics made over a decade ago. Not only have the image files degraded over the years, I was also a young 20 something that enjoyed the humor of the time. A lot of that humor might be dated and maybe in poor taste sometimes (There's some jokes I won't defend). I've decided to leave them un-edited (beyond spelling errors) just because I wouldn't stop if I did. Now, let's address the elephant in the room: The W. in the title is that W. Yesterday, I mentioned today's comic was "my biggest and best mistake." I should've never put W. in the title. That was my biggest mistake. I tried to retitle it a few times, but TAOWAR has such a nice ring to it. Anyways, while we're talking about W. I want to say that this is not a political comic. It's just a comic that happens to have a goofy President character in the comic relief role. W. is downplayed in later comics and he would've been written out long ago if I hadn't written myself into a storyline I couldn't get out of. Issue 37 will retire this character. As for my best mistake, that was starting the comic to begin with. now, I do want to take the time to list off every comic from TAOWAR I'll be posting. Season One: The Leader-1 Saga Arc I: Escape From the Himalayas (5 parts) Arc II: Attack of the Forgotten Zombie Go-Bots! (5 parts) Filler Funnies I: Cultural Differences (This is the only import FF because of a character introduction) Arc III: Botcon Gaiden 2007 (5 parts) Arc IV: Return to the White House (6 parts) Tales of the Time Thief The Tale of the Technodrome (2 parts) Season Two: The Paradox Saga Arc I: A Better World, A Cobra World (5 parts) Arc II: Hangin' With My Gnome (2 parts) Arc III: Before the Storm (2 parts) Side Story: The Gnome's Forte (1 parts) Arc IV: Time Storm (2 parts, 2 issues, starting here each part has it's own title) Part I: Good Morning! Part II: Danger Zone Part III: The Final Countdown Part IV: Number One That's 38 comics total, which is off if Issue 37 will be the finale. Well, Filler Funnies never counted, so that's one. The other skipped number I honestly can't remember. I either skipped "The Gnome's Forte" or miscounted how many parts "Return to the White House" was when I turned over to Issue numbers. Thanks to anyone that read all my rumbling. I promise me talking won't be this long very often. Come back tomorrow to meet W's arch nemesis : Desert Claw. |
