What..? From my experience it's totally the other way round, with cartoons so censored now most action shows lose all purpose.

I dunno, I think he should've said "early 2000's" because I deffinitely agree we're moving back to more story-focused and less cop-outish shows. (sometimes that can backfire, though) But the 90's had tons of awesome shows that pushed the bounderies.
