Geez. What the H-E Double Hockey Sticks! How much money could have been made if they would have made them in general retail?
Also, one of my expectations that sadly wasn't reached was that they had room for creating Mecha based upon the 9 Series between Gokaiger and Zenkaiger (Go-Busters, Kyoryuger, ToQger, Ninninger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, Lupinranger vs Patranger, Ryusoulger, and Kiramager) but they didn't make any more Legend Sentai Mecha. They only created Mecha based upon the 35 Series up until Gokaiger. Zenkaizer was based upon both Gorenger/Goranger and JAKQ. Stacaesar and the Battle Caesar Robo were based upon Battle Fever J, Super Zenkaizer and Zenkai Juran were based upon Zyuranger, Zenkai Gaon was based upon Gaoranger, Zenkai Magine was based upon Magiranger, Zenkai Vroon was based upon Boukenger, Twokaizer was based upon Gokaiger, TwokaiRicky was based upon Ohranger, TwokaiCutanner was based upon Shinkenger, and Super Twokaizer was based upon Timeranger. This felt like a major missed opportunity. Zyuranger and Timeranger were both represented in the combination of GoZyuJin which combined qualities of TimeJet Gamma, Dragon Caesar, Defense Mecha Raimei, Guardian Beast Tyrannosaurus, and V-Rex as well as some of the Abarangers' AbarenOh; the Gokaiger GaoLion helped represent both Gaoranger and Shinkenger; there was the Gokaiger version of MagiDragon from Magiranger. Otherwise, the only "new ground" that they covered were just Mecha from series from Gorenger/Goranger to Gokaiger. None from Go-Busters to Kiramager. I hope that at least the Four Kikainoids get upgraded forms based upon Mecha from Series after Gokaiger. Juran could get upgraded to resemble Gabutyra/Kyoryujin from Kyoryuger or Tyramigo/Kishiryujin from Ryusoulger, Gaon could get upgraded to resemble Shishi Voyager/KyurenOh from Kyuranger, Vroon could get upgraded to resemble Mashin Fire/Kiramaizin from Kiramager, and, err, hmm. What could Magine become? I at least have the upgraded form for 3 of them. Possibly Magine could be upgraded to resemble Gosei Dragon/Gosei Great from Goseiger? It may be before Gokaiger, but otherwise, I have no idea. But at least I have ideas for 3 Upgrade Forms for Juran, Gaon, and Vroon which upgrade them to resemble Mecha from after Gokaiger. Zenkai Juran could be renamed to "Zenkai Kyoryu", Zenkai Gaon could be renamed "Zenkai Kyuran", and Vroon could be renamed "Zenkai Mashin". Their names might no longer represent their civilian names, but most of the time, Sentai Ranger Names don't equal their civilian names. |

It's fine to do something other than referencing every series ever. It doesn't need to be Gokai 2.

It's one thing for kids to make DX JuraGaon beat up Dark JuraGaon, it's another for them to go outside and pretend they're Solomon play-fighting another kid pretending to be Saber. For example, notice how Power Rangers Dino Fury (also Hasbro) here in the US sells action figures of Void Knight at retail, but not his version of the Dino Fury Saber (idk what it's actually called in the show). |

There's also that ever since 84, there's always been a lot less Decepticons available at retail than Autobots. Even in recent collector-aimed lines like Kingdom there's a noticeably larger proportion of good guys, despite BW as a show having an equal split of heroes and villains. Heroes, typically, just sell better.
Also that Dark JuraGaon would cost, like, a lot? JuraGaon as is costs something like 7,800 yen so that's the price range kids would be looking at, for a robo that isn't even a character and appeared in about three episodes. It's a dark repaint so that helps it, but I dunno; doesn't seem worth the risk

Like how the Karakuri Mantle was released in toy form. Who would want a piece of cloth that was only used once and wasn't even that useful? Also, what about giving ZenKaijuOh's Two Components the compatibility to become Super ZenkaiOh and Super TwokaiOh even though it was used only once and never again? They weren't even given new suits, just CGI models. And it didn't even beat the upgraded Battle Caesar Robo. That required ZenKaijuuOh to finish off the BCR. Anyways, do you remember roleplaying when you were a child? Pretending you were a knight-in-shining armor rescuing your friend from the "dragon" at the top of the playplace, either in the playground at your elementary school or at the McDonalds? Do you remember wearing your Halloween Costume with your friend who just so happened to wear a matching costume? Like you were dressed up as Batman and your friend was dressed up with a Joker (Mark Hamill) costume. And you play-fight. Plus, Villain Characters, especially in Tokusatsu, have extremely cool designs, sometimes, even cooler than the heroes of those series. So who wouldn't want to pretend they were one of those characters? |

So who wouldn't want to pretend they were one of those characters? Another potential outlier are the myriad of Kaiju and Villain toys in Ultraman. It should be noted however that Ultra Kaiju have their own unique popularity and anything and anyone that exists in that franchise tends to get at least one vinyl figure. Much of the role-playing aspect in your assessment is from a Western perspective and it ultimately doesn't matter how good the designs are. Final Analysis: it's actually easier to get a Toku Monster toy from P.R. than it is from Sentai! |
