Short answer - no.
Long answer - if that was ever the case, then Go-Busters would have ended the franchise. It had bad ratings (although better than Kyoryuger, interestingly enough) and toy sales were completely terrible. I thought it was a good season though. Toei and Bandai make a lot of money from the toys and Toei also owns stock in TV Asahi (the station that airs SHT), so the show would have to be pretty completely horrible for the franchise to be cancelled. Everything would need to go wrong; toy sales, ratings below a 2.0 (probably), a cast that is just terrible, and horrific live show ticket sales. It would take a lot. |

One thing to remember with ratings is that if someone says "Oh this episode only got 3.5%!" etc that is a total over all demographics.
at the end of the day Toei is only interested in the kid demographic of their ratings, the demographic that will buy the toys. These figures are hard to get these days for more recent shows like kyoryuger and toqger but during Go-busters' run it hit really low with kids which started the whole sky is falling thing during its run. Didn't help that one of the producers left the project without a reason given :P at the end of the day sentai will only be cancelled/put on break if there are several failures in a row. I think as it stands now... Shinkenger - Good toys sales. Good ratings Goseiger - Below average toy sales. Good ratings Gokaiger - Good toy sales. Ratings started to drop Go-busters - Below average toy sales. another big drop in ratings Kyoryuger - High toy sales. Ratings dropping slightly below go-busters ToQger - Ok toy sales. show isn't finished yet so you can't really comment on ratings but I think when i last checked there was another drop. so yeah we havent had any huge drops in toy sales several years in a row in recent years so sentai isn't going to get the can anytime soon. |

The last projection of toy sales I saw, ToQger was going to top Shinkenger and Go-Onger, falling short of Gokaiger and Kyoryuger. I think Toei went after a specific niche and did pretty well with it.

only really said ok since ToQger is on its way to be quite high but the last quarter of ToQgers toyline was quite bare in terms of new toys so there is a chance it will drop.
the next toy sales report that comes out should give the final ToQger numbers for toys. |

I remember checking the recent report somewhere and though it did not do gangbusters like Kyoryuger they seem to be satisfied for still doing slightly better than their expected numbers.

Nininger would likely do well in toy sales given how popular Ninjas are with kids. I doubt it will reach Kyoryuger and Gokaiger in sales, but I can see it doing better then ToQger. The suit designs and mecha looks better then what we have seen in ToQger.

Someone once told me that with these kind of shows if they happen to be made by the same people and share a common audience, it tends to do this thing where they fluctuate between shows in terms of main focus. So if they decide to for example focus on Rider they will not expect a whole lot from Sentai, and then the next season/year Sentai will get love and vice versa.
