Speaking of friendship and toku! I was looking through the catalog for comics and graphic novels shipping in May, and I was shocked and excited to see the following all-ages graphic novel coming out from Scholastic's Graphix imprint:



"Kara hoped to spend the summer re-enacting episodes of her favorite TV show, Shinpi Rider, with her best friend Alice. But when Alice moves to a new home two towns over, everything changes. Alice mysteriously stops answering Kara's phone calls and letters. In order to reignite their friendship, Kara hatches a brave plan to bike over to Alice's new school all on her own. Kara's bravery on the journey proves how strong she is but when Kara finally finds Alice, her bravado fades: Alice has found new friends and has left Kara behind. I mean, this is pretty huge? Graphix basically owns the kids' graphic novel market, and this book is going to be available at every Scholastic Book Fair at every elementary school in America. That's huge.

But beyond that... a graphic novel about two kids forming a friendship over Kamen Rider?! (Sorry, Shinpi Rider or "Mystery Rider", I love that substitution.) Very excited to see how this one turns out, and I wanted to make you all aware of it. It'll be available everywhere the first week of May!

Not doing good today! I had to make the agonizing decision to put my cat down. He was a 16 year old purebred Siamese and slowly getting worse. Had the feline equivalent of COPD and down to the bone. We knew he was going to go sometime this week, but it was hard to commit to this. I got him just before Space Patrol Delta began! He saw me through high school and college!

Oh, gosh, I'm sorry to hear that. You did the right thing for him, but that probably doesn't make you feel much better. Sorry for your loss.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I've had to say goodbye to my favorite dog back in 2019, right before Christmas, and I was absolutely miserable for a couple days. I know I should probably be used to this by now, since I've known three great dogs who I loved very much come and go, and it's never easy no, matter how many times you have to go through it. But he was special to me, so he probably hit me harder than the others, if I'm being honest. But I hope the best for you moving forward, buddy.

I know what you're going through. I was absolutely heartbroken when I had to put my old dog down. Stay strong, and rest assured that he loved you as much as you loved him.

The artist of Fearless has some pages up on his site from what look like a pitch document for the book. The art is colorful and energetic, and that fourth page! Psyched for this kid's book about toku friendships!
