Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this. I oftentimes see mention of the SD at the top of most fans wishlists whenever another CSM is announced. In my opinion, the DX is completely accurate to the "face" belts used in the show. The scale is right, the paints are accurate, in some stills you can see the battery door on the back, so I have to assume Bandai are using the same molds for the DX drivers, right? Even if that's a poor assumption, they look near identicle, as are the Lockseeds, so I can't really see room for much improvement. Sure, the belt itself can be made bigger and better in order to fit adults and be show accurate. Maybe pack it all in a Yggdrasil briefcase? Looking at past releases they could put the main riders faceplates and LSs, but what could they change on those? New phrases? Sparkly stickers?
In any event, I'm sure I'd buy it regardless, it's Gaim, but I'd prefer they do some of the weapons as CMs. I'd kill for a full scale Musou Saber! So what else could they do to the SD to upgrade it to CSM? What would you guys want in this set? |

Additional buttons which play the background music from the show (+ the theme song of course) when pressed would be epic, I know the CSM Decade Driver had that. Otherwise, I think they may use some die-cast metal in certain parts to give it more heft and paint it in better, fewer toy-ish colors.
As far as Lockseeds go, I can see them including the basic four (Orange, Banana, Grape & Melon) as updated versions with diecast + more individual sounds such as the catchphrases of the characters. Plus the faceplates for each Rider. And ideally it should be compatible with the millions of DX Lockseeds which are already out there, I don't know how past CSM releases handled something like this though. But yes, a CSM Sengoku Driver is on the top of my want-list as far as non-SHF Rider-merch goes, I hope they make one eventually. Last edited by Kiwami; 09-09-2017 at 07:20 AM.. |

Interesting! I never considered that. Diecast would definitely be cool, aesthetically, but if you look at drivers used, they don't look like metal. Neither do some if the costumes, but when they fight the sound effects used denote that it is. When drivers and locks get dropped or thrown they sound like plastic to me. I guess they would be metal though, it only makes sense.
Now I'm kinda torn, your suggestions would look amazing, no doubt, but they wouldn't be entirely accurate to the show. Not that you haven't seen a 1000 times, but look at the pic I attached, that's clearly plastic and paint. Then again, most swords in films aren't really metal (props), yet when offered to collectors they are most certainly made of steal. Maybe if it was frosted metal and not chrome? That could totally work. As far as the locks are concerned, if it's a CSM they wouldn't change the existing lock functionality. I have the W Driver and all they did to the USBs was added a sparkly sticker. All previous gimmicks fit as normal. The other mods were a darker red paint and black wash on the silver parts, and of course the belt itself is leather with a show accurate silver overlay and able to fit up to a 40" waist, I think. You're right of course, if they want to replicate what was seen on screen they have to make it look toyish, so my remark based on Bandai making the belt less toy-like in color for the CSM release was stupid.
If they use diecast they can paint it over so it looks like plastic, but it would still give you some heft and premium feel. I feel like the handle of the knife which cuts the Lockseeds would be ideal for diecast. Because you actually touch it when you use the belt and feel the difference every time. The silver lining throughout the belt could also be done with diecast, unpainted even. |

I really wish the SuperBest line was still around. Because this is all I've ever wanted with a DX Sengoku Driver. The fact that I'd have to buy the Musou Saber and Zangetsu's faceplate seperately is the reason I never invested in Gaim toys.

@Kiwama: It wasn't stupid. It actually got me to thinking what if they made hyper-realistic versions of drivers, kinda like what SIC do for Riders. Could be cool.
@IXROIX: I forgot about SB! Did they stop? I just assumed they didn't do a SB if there wasn't a strong demand to get more drivers out there. W and OOO were pretty popular and drivers on the secondary market were high till the SBs came out. On the other hand Fourze and Wizard Drivers could be had for like $50-60 Prime and I'm pretty sure Drive and Ghost don't deserve Super Best anythings, ever. It's been 3 years since Gaim, though. It would have come out by now. tyats yoo bad, im sure there are plenty of fans that missed out. |
