Did this have much of a following, with obviously SS and KR are the big 1-2 punch in Toku, but was this ever a #3 or was the gap pretty large between SS/KR vs. Gransazer? Ever watch it? Thoughts if you have?

Well, it's managed two sequel series, so that's something.
I've seen a decent chunk of it and am still watching it though at an excruciatingly slow pace. It's nice.

I haven't seen any of it yet, but I see the toys pop up for fairly cheap prices on Ebay and I plan on picking some up. I also saw a DVD of the show on their as well and will probably get it too.

The best way to describe Gransazer is cheap. It isn't a bad show, by any stretch of the imagination, but the Henshin Hero action sequences have a lot in common with early 90s Power Rangers original footage. The giant stuff does largely make up for it, but if you're a person like me that doesn't watch the shows just for the giant stuff, then you might find the rubbery masks and pathetically limp wristed powers disappointing.

Toho (Daiei and Tsuburaya) quality.
Most of the staff are from those companies, and are good in making movies for the 80's and 90's. The show has its own taste, and you will defiinitely like it (and its sequels) if you are a fan of japanese oldies. |

I liked the idea the show was trying to do, but not the execution. It started out interesting, but there was just way too many character by the time they got halfway through and only the Fire team was developed. The only time they developed any other team member is when they were first introduced and then they pretty much became background characters that were just there because the show required 12 heroes. The effects were quite good though and the monster designs were well done. However, if you aren't a fan of the fire team (I liked the water team best), the series becomes very annoying, especially the female of the team.
