About time, I am so sick about hearing about this god awful series.
Akira - Got to see this at the Alamo Drafthouse a little bit ago and it was quite awesome on the big screen. The animation was so nice and crisp that it was just gorgeous to see. Unfortunately, nice animation still cannot fix the convoluted plot, but that is okay, it still tells a great story despite its confusing ideas and symbolism. I still think the movie should have a subtitle called The White Reset Button. ANyway, great animation, an excellent score, and likable characters make me give this movie an 8/10. |

Up to 7 on Macross Frontier, which is basically the point I left the show at last time, not because I didn't like it, it simply happened.
Still, with the production quality, the incredible insert songs and engaging story, Frontier is an unique experience, almost cinematic. So far I really like it, and it doesn't hurt that the VF-25 is one of my all time favorite mech designs. Quote:
Crazy. Could go either way but it was definitely interesting. |

And up to 11 on Frontier, the most interesting episode of this set probably was 10, where they filmed a movie based on Macross Zero (which I have yet to watch), it was a very interesting idea, a nice way to homage the series and build upon the entertainment business in the world of Macross.
Main things of note are Brera totally not related to Ranka, the green pet thingy totally not a Vajra and Sheryl's declining health. |

Gundam 00 season 2 episodes 8-13
Damn. Jumping back in and this is still amazing. We learn about Terraria and his Origins as an innovator and the pressures he has from his look alike and Celestial Being. Along with that, I know that at a point, the GN particles mess with quantum brainwaves due to that base assault. That beam weapon is scary as all hell and I got to see even more dark Saji and Louise moments. And hallejuah's back. I don't know what the hell they are gonna do with all of these innovators standing around but I'm sure Mr. Bushido will put them to decent use. Nice mid season upgrade, 00 Gundam. What, you're trying to sell an extra toy? Okay, but as long as you use it well I'll let it slide. What makes this season feel a lot different is that the battles are always on edge, completely different from all of the troops that got slaughtered by Celestial being in the first half of season 1. However, with the 00 Raiser, the tension that has made this season a lot more dark is now gone, at least for Setsuna's Gundam. Can I say that I love the amount of great female characters in this series? Louise is having awesome character development and the dilemma of her emotions with Saji interfering with her dream is really interesting. Marie has been really strong willed through the course of the series and supportive of everyone. That innovator bitch with the mobile suit using the beam cannon is a strong willed as Graham when he led the flag fighters last season. Even though Miss Sumaragi's story has mostly wrapped up, the pitting her against her tactician friend dynamic is really interesting along with her strive to end war. Nena Trinity was cool in season 1 but now is cursing around with no purpose. Coming off of Gundam Wing, which was a sausage fest, this is a nice change of pace (aside from the fact that the ladies all have huge ass tits) Last edited by Powerman293; 11-27-2013 at 11:43 PM.. |

Genuinely don't know what to make of Samurai Flamenco any more.
It would be utterly hypocritical of me to call it stupid and I can't deny that I'm enjoying the hell out of the very obvious Shocker references, but it all feels so bizarre. Seven episodes of building up this very real and somewhat heartwarming world to suddenly throw it away by making a massive U-turn and turn it into a real henshin hero show. It might have been fine if there was some sort of build up to it, but we've gone from thugs and drug dealers to suicide bomber animal mutants. I really hope the show has some logical explanation for it all, but episode 8 didn't even feel like the same show.
