So I was looking at my Kiva Lockseed and Promo Ore Eyecon and got to thinking, is it better to collect during a show's run or after?
Do you get everything as it comes out or wait until it's all over and things often start coming out pretty cheap and you know by now what you'd want after seeing all the reviews, but sometimes stuff gets marked up drastically (like the Peach and Mango Lockseeds) and getting one for a good price becomes very difficult. So what do you guys do/think? Wait or jump ASAP? |

I like collecting after. Except for PR toys. I don't know what it is about PR toys that makes the prices go apeshit after the show ends.

It depends. Drive Driver can be found for a decent price on Amazon while Chase Breaker Gun is being sold at some pretty high prices. I would say try to collect on whatever you like that is popular.

I haven't been into toku long enough to develop a preference. Sure wish I'd been around when all the Gaim stuff wasn't pricey as nuts, though.
For Ghost I'm collecting as it's coming out, but this is literally my first time watching a Rider series from the start, and I like the eyes, so who knows. I may be a collect-as-it-airs type. |

In general I tend to buy as they're released, but it depends. I mostly just collect Figuarts, so by the time those are released it's easier to gauge how popular the series has been and how its other merchandise has sold, so I know whether or not I need to try to get it immediately or if I can easily find it later.
For example, with Drive I didn't worry too much about it because it was never that hard to find anything Drive related. There's still some Drive stuff I want but I'm in no rush because I know there's plenty of it around. For Gaim though, I'm sure as hell glad I collected as the show aired. Gaim is one where I feel sorry for anyone trying to collect it now because so much of it sells for such insane prices (Looking at you especially, Zangetsu Shin). So yeah it pretty much depends on how popular it seems to be for me. If it's not too popular I'll probably just wait, but if all of its stuff is selling out constantly I get in on it early.

I'm a bit of both. I'll get stuff for characters I really like during the show's run, and go back for other stuff later if I feel like it. Like, I went and got Mach's DX stuff while the show was on, now I'm considering going for Drive and Chaser's stuff. Considering this policy got me an SHF Zangetsu Shin for a reasonable price, I'd say it working out pretty well for me.

Buy during. While some toys will become more cheaper as time goes on, most of them don't and far too many people beat themselves up over passing on toys they wanted when they were readily available at asking price.

Buy during, especially for things like Rider collectible trinkets. I still wish I bought my favorite lock seeds back when they didn't cost an arm and a leg...

I do both. Some I collect during the shows airing and some later. But then again I fly to japan every few years and getting older toys in Japan is way easier and cheaper than getting them online.
