And so we come to the end of another year. And what an ending.

Excite! really gave us the final episode fast! It even melted away my Kiva anger! I loved the ending, the fight itself was awesome and they handled the people who had been erased excellently. I had been wondering for a long time if they would really just revive everyone or if all the lives would somehow be lost. It really never dawned on me that there was another option! I thought it really worked well with the show on a thematic level. The general idea of struggling on and standing by the patients, hoping one day for a cure was great. It was also fun to see where all the characters are now, and one can't help but be proud of them after their rough and bickering start.
I really loved Ex-Aid, it was a wonderful show to have as my first Rider watched weekly. I liked the characters a lot, since they were a rather fresh take on one of these multi-rider shows. At the beginning many of them seemed really bland, but by the end I loved almost all of them. Emu was a really cool protagonist, I liked how he was a well meaning, but occasionally rather manipulative person. He felt very real to me. Hiiro was also a unique take on the typical edgelord secondary Rider, since he was really, really bad at being aloof and emotionally disconnected. Of course, who doesn't like Taiga and Nico's fun and cute interactions! Team Bugster wasn't left out either, with Poppy being one of my favorite female characters in Rider now, and Parad is also very cool. The plot was certainly a hot mess at times, and it honestly had so much content in it that it could probably be 3 separate shows, but it was very compelling and I would love to see this writer again! I'm torn about where I want to rank it, either right above or right below Gaim, but I'm not quite sure yet. Goodbye Ex-Aid! Hello Build!

It was a great show, the best since Gaim for me and IMO the second best post-Decade show. It was just really good all around, and I think the ending fits. The transition to Build is also rather neat.
Now on to the V-Cinema movies! And Build I guess. Please, just be half as solid as Ex-Aid was and I'm good. |

The only thing I didn't like about the ending is it kind of seemed like...they're back at the start. The game illness is still out there, there's just less psychopaths trying to manipulate it now. Then again, if they 100% got rid of the illness, we wouldn't be able to have Parad and Poppy back, and we'd also lose Kuroto and Kiriya.
I'm also a bit confused. Didn't Dan Masamune delete Saki's backup data? And wasn't the whole point of his "suicide" to delete all of the other backup data? That's what the long speech he gave before doing it seemed to be about...yet, all of the backup data proto gashats were there in that case. What happened? Overall, I'm satisfied with Ex-Aid. Out of what I've seen (Drive, Ghost, Ex-Aid, and half of Kiva) it's easily my favorite. I'm sure I won't have anybody questioning that

Speaking of which, Saki's data was presumably restored thanks to the Reset, though that's only speculation I suppose. |

God speed Ex-Aid. I'll see you next time when True Ending comes out! Such a great show. Sadly Build has quite a bit of pressure, but hopefully Build will be fine!

I love how this felt like a bad ending to a video game.

I like how, even though it's reeeally redundant, Parad being revived was almost kind of foreshadowed with Emu killing Parad the first time. And also somehow completes Parads character arc, having him learning from his whole self-sacrifice thing. It's weird how this show can make the most contrived things interesting, cause I know I should be hating the fact that he was killed then revived, then killed again then revived. But I still got feels from him and Poppy.
I also liked how they only spent half the episode on the final battle, and really fleshed out the post-plot character stuff. I was seriously laughing at how awesome some characters' plots resolved, especially Niko. Emu especially shined with the heartwarming stuff, having said as many names as he could in his speech. Although, now I'm wondering about Hiiro. Yeah, it may have just been him moving on, but it could have also hinted about her data having been restored by the reset. I mean I could be reaching, but apparently it was supposed to be common knowledge that Poppy was a Bugster and not some data-construct/bugster knock-off. Overall, a great end to a fantastic show. Has it really been a year? So much stuff has happened between the first episode and now. Seeing some clips of early episodes, it almost feels like a different show. And I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Either way, here's hoping Build doesn't gets crushed under the post-good-series expectations.
