The beginning of a new series-
Passing 1: Rest In Peace Seishinzu City. A vibrant area that in the day was calm, but at night was full of partying. The night sky was always illuminated, the sounds of slot machines and loud music would fill the air. The bars were always full and the party would last until the morning, when everyone would return to their day jobs. Despite the large buildings and casinos, there were still traditional houses and buildings in between each of them. One of the few noticeable ones was the “Kodomo Jidai” candy store. One of the few families who hadn’t sold out to the large corporations in the city yet, the managing family of Kodomo Jidai were humble people. That was, until the casinos were built. “Daddy?” said the young boy, putting his backpack down as he met with his father at the doorway. “Sorry Takeshi, daddy was out again last night, he has a headache. He needs to lie down.” “But daddy, you said you would take me to school!” Takeshi reached out at his father only for him to brush him off. “Look, why don’t you have mommy take you to school?” “But daddy…” Takeshi watched as his dad entered his room and heard the door lock. Putting his backpack back on, Takeshi walked over to the altar in the living room. “Goodbye mommy. I promise I will come back early,” Takeshi said, bowing to the gravemarker. Rushing out the door, the young boy saw a city bus waiting at the stop. Searching his pockets for money, he boarded the bus and took a seat. “Hey kid.” Takeshi looked up to see the bus driver standing in front of him. “Don’t worry about the fund, it’s on the house.” Walking back to the driver’s seat, the driver smiled at him and shifted the gears. As he felt the bus moving, Takeshi looked outside to see the cityscape. The store his family managed seem so small compared to all of the buildings they drove past by. The park he had once played in was leveled and replaced with brothels and casinos. His favorite arcade was now a business office. As Takeshi looked on, he noticed children walking alongside their parents. “Hey kid, here we are,” the bus driver said, turning back and looking at him. Takeshi walked towards the door of the bus and looked back at the driver. “Um...will you be working still after school is over?” “Do you need a ride back?” “Yes, will you-” “Hey kid, I know your parents are probably working right now, but can they pick you up? I would love to help you get home later, but my shift is over in a few minutes. I mean if they can’t, I’ll tell my buddy to wait for you, okay?” Looking disappointed, Takeshi nodded and left the bus. Looking at the entrance of his elementary school, Takeshi watched as parents were hugging their children goodbye. “Oi! Takeshi!” “Ooh! Setsu!” As his best friend approached, Takeshi held his hand out. Doing their secret handshake, Takeshi smiled and laughed. “Do you think your daddy will let you stay over tomorrow? I’m having my birthday party!” “Yeah he should, I mean I- wait...I can’t…” “Eh? Why not?” Takeshi looked down and away from Setsu. “Oh...you have to help him out with your store, huh?” “Yeah…” “But hey! Maybe I can get the candy for the party from there! I’m sure my mommy would-” The word shook Takeshi. “Oh...I’m sorry Takeshi. I didn’t mean to sa-” “No...it’s fine.” “Takeshi-kun, why do you look so down?” said Setsu’s mother walking up to them. “Mommy, can we get candy from Takeshi’s store?” “Of course sweetie. Now Takeshi, remember, if there is anything you need, I am here to help, okay?” she said with a smile. “Thank you auntie.” Hugging him and then her son, Setsu’s mother walked off and waved to the both of them. “Your mommy’s nice Setsu…” “Hey, cheer up Takeshi! Come on! Oh hey, did you hear? We have a new teacher today!” “A new teacher?” “Yeah! I heard he’s pretty young compared to Jigorou-sensei!” Grabbing his friend’s hand, Setsu dragged Takeshi into the building and into their classroom. Just as Setsu had said, there was a young man sitting at the teacher’s desk. Instead of the usual teacher’s uniform they had seen before, Takeshi noted that the man wore a black long coat- chains crossing his chest and wrapping around his arms, black boots instead of dress shoes, and his hair messy instead of combed back. “Ho-ho, two other students huh? Take your seats.” Doing as they were told, Setsu and Takeshi sat in their desks, listening to the murmuring of the other students as the young man got up. “My name is-” Taking the chalk in hand, the young man wrote his name on the board. “Geki Hantā. You can call me Hantā-sensei.” Smiling, he picked up papers on his desk and began to walk around the room, handing them to each student. “I know that the school year has just started, but I would like you all to do something. Who here likes stories?” Watching his students raise their hands, Geki chuckled. “Good! Now, I gave this to you all so you can start thinking about writing your own story. We’ll share them all in a week. Does that sound good?” “Yes sensei!” “Good! Now, why don’t we all have recess early?!” “Hantā-sensei.” “Gah, Principal!” In the doorway, the principal of the elementary school was staring him down. “That sounds like a wonderful idea. Kids, head outside!” “Yay!” Rushing out the door, the students passed by the principal and into their playground. “So, how are you enjoying the city, Hantā-sensei?” “I like it...Uncle.” “Hehe, you know you can only call me that when we are alone. In front of others, I’m not your uncle, I’m your principal. So, anything you notice yet?” “Yeah. Tell me, why did that boy come to school alone?” Geki said, pointing to Takeshi. “Well, let me tell you about it…” ___ Several hours later, the students all got up and bowed to Geki. “See you all tomorrow, okay?” “Yes Hantā-sensei!” Picking up their backpacks, they all rushed to the door. “Takeshi-kun, a minute please?” Takeshi looked on at Setsu, who just smiled. “Ah, Takeshi, I’ll tell my mommy to wait for you.” “No, it’s okay Setsu, I have a ride home, this won’t take too long.” “Okay, see you!” Running out the door, Setsu slammed it as Takeshi turned to Geki. “Now, how are things at home, Takeshi?” “They’re okay…” Putting his hand on his shoulder, Geki smiled at Takeshi. “If anything is going on, feel free to tell Sensei, okay?” “Yes sir.” “Good, now that’s all I wanted to say. You sure you can get home alright?” “Yes!” “Well, go on! And don’t forget about your story, be sure to write it in any way you want to!” “Yes! Bye Sensei!” Running out the door, Takeshi bolted to the bus stop. “Excuse me Mister Bus Driver-” “Whoa kid, where’s your bus fee?” “Oh, right!” Reaching into his pockets, Takeshi pulled them out and realized they were empty. “I don’t have any money…” “Well then sorry kid, but you gotta get off the bus.” “But, your friend said-” “Oh, that guy? He’s not me. Sure he can cover you, but I can’t. Now scram!” Pushing Takeshi off the bus, the kid fell to the ground. “Takeshi-kun!” Geki ran to him and picked him up. “Are you okay? What’s wrong with you?” Geki said turning to the bus driver. “Hey, I got a quota to fill. You want that kid to get home safely, pay up.” “Damn...I left my wallet in the classroom…” “Well too bad then!” said the bus driver, closing the doors before driving off. “Hey! Wait!” Turning to Takeshi, Geki noticed that he was starting to cry. “Whoa! Takeshi-kun, it’s okay, it’s okay! I’ll take you home, how’s that sound?” Wiping his eyes, Takeshi nodded. “Good, now wait here, I’ll get my wallet and then I’ll get our ride.” Running back into the building, Geki looked back at Takeshi, who sat down on the bench. A couple minutes went by as Takeshi waited for Geki. “Did Sensei leave me here?...” “Oi! Takeshi-kun!” Takeshi looked up to see Geki riding on a black motorcycle. “Sensei! That is so cool!” “Get in the sidecar and put this on!” Geki said, handing Takeshi a helmet. “Yes sir!” Running to the sidecar and buckling himself in, Takeshi pointed forward! “Let’s go!” “Um, Takeshi-kun, you need to tell Sensei which way your house is.” “Oh, right! That way!” “Alright, let’s go!” Revving his motorcycle, Geki drove forward, passing all of the buildings and noticing the adults walking into them. As they approached Kodomo Jidai, Geki saw Takeshi’s father walking out the door. “Daddy! I’m home!” Takeshi said, running up to his father. “Oh, Takeshi! Hmm? Who is that?” “That’s Hantā-sensei!” “Oh, sensei! Nice to meet you, I’m Takeshi’s father, Takeru.” “Well, Takeru-san, where are you headed? It’s a little too late to go out right now. Going to work?” “Ah, no, I was invited to a get-together with some friends.” “Again daddy? But you went out last night!” “I know Takeshi, but I can’t say no. Remember to lock the doors, okay?” “Takeru-san, I don’t think you should go-” “Oh, sensei, why don’t you come with me? It’s a thank you for watching over Takeshi.” “Ah, but-” “Come on, come on!” Grabbing Geki’s hand, he dragged him to his motorcycle and sat in the sidecar. “I’ll direct you, let’s go!” “Ah...Takeshi-kun, don’t forget to write your story.” “Yes Sensei…” As they drove off, Takeshi looked on as he locked the door. Walking to the altar in the the living room, Takeshi bowed to the gravemarker. “I’m back mommy. Daddy went out again...but don’t worry mommy, I’m still here. I’m still here…” ___ “Come on Sensei, drink up!” Geki looked around the room. Several parents of the children he taught were there, drunk. “Takeru-san, I thought you said this was a get together.” “It is a get together! Of all the parents! Now drink up!” Taking the drink in hand, Geki sipped before spitting it out. “Aw, don’t tell me you can’t handle your vodka!” “Takeru-san, I heard from Takeshi-kun earlier that you were out the night before.” “And the night before that and the night before that!” Takeru said laughing. “I see...shouldn’t we get back to Takeshi-kun? It’s getting pretty late.” “Nah, nah, let’s just party!” ___ Back at Kodomo Jidai, Takeshi wiped his tears and sat at his desk. Writing down on his paper, Takeshi thought all about his mother. With his tears falling onto the paper, Takeshi didn’t realize that something was coming up behind him. “And then Takeshi felt his mommy hug him after she came back. She said, I’m home…” “I’m home.” “...Mommy?” ___ “Okay, we’re at your home Takeru-san,” said Geki, carrying him on his back. “Oi, Takeshi-kun, are you awa-” Walking into the living room, Geki noticed that the altar was in ruins. “What happened here?! Oi, Takeru-san, wake up!” “Hu...The gravemarker! Who did this?!...Takeshi! Takeshi, where are you?! Geki-san, please, come with me!” Following him upstairs, the pair found Takeshi’s room locked. “Stand back Takeru-san.” Kicking it down, Geki rushed into the room and stopped. Following him in, Takeru walked a little bit in front of him and stopped moving. “...Mako…” In the center of the room was Takeshi, sleeping with a woman stroking his hair. “Quiet dear, you’ll wake him up.” “This is impossible...Mako, you di-” “I’m back dear.” Hearing those words, Takeru began to walk to her before Geki stopped him. “Hold on Takeru-san. That is not your wife.” “No it is! I know it i-” “It’s not her. The altar downstairs was hers, wasn’t it?” “Ah...yes...but, she’s here! It must be her spirit then! Mako, there are so many things I wanted to say to yo-” “Takeru-san, that is not her.” “Butt out of this!” Takeru yelled, punching Geki away. “Mako, dear, I-” As he approached her, Takeru noticed something was wrong. She was transparent, like a ghost, but her body seemed to be made of various kanji characters. As she smiled, her teeth were rigid and sharp. Her eyes were piercing and black. The area around her was dark despite the light in the room. “Ma...Mako?...” “Welcome home dear.” Lunging forward, “Mako” opened her mouth and was about to bite down on Takeru before Geki pushed him out of the way. Holding up a slip of paper, Geki pushed it against her face. “It burns! It burns!” “Mako” yelled out falling over. Watching her disappear in a cloud of smoke, Takeru reached out to Takeshi and held him close. “Wha...what just happened?” “Takeru-san, I believe that Takeshi may be possessed.” “Possessed?” “Yes. The reason I brought Takeshi-kun home was to confirm that he was.” Looking down at Takeshi, Takeru held him close and looked back up at Geki. “What can we do?” “I can remove the spirit from him.” “Who exactly are you?” “I’m actually from a long line of exorcists. My uncle, the principal of the elementary school had me come in due to the high level of spiritual energy detected in the children. Now, do you trust me to get the spirit out of your son?” “Yes!” “Then come with me.” As they carried Takeshi down the stairs, the two men placed him in the sidecar of Geki’s motorcycle. Takeshi was sweating and breathing heavily, his face was pale and he felt cool to the touch. “I left my kit at the school, so we need to rush back there to free him. Hold on tight.” ___ The elementary school halls were dark and empty. Carrying Takeshi to the classroom, they were greeted by the principal. “How is he doing?” “His condition is getting worse. Uncle, I’ll need the gear.” “Right away.” The principal ran around the corner and picked up a suitcase. Running back to his nephew, he opened up the case, revealing an oddly shaped belt. The belt looked like a yin-yang symbol, with a card slot on the right side with a lever on the left. Right beside it was a stack of cards depicting various ancient Japanese creatures on them. “Hand me a Blank.” Doing as he was told, the principal handed Geki a white card. Placing it on Takeshi’s forehead, Geki pressed it down and shouted “Begone!” Suddenly, the room went dark again as a bright violet light came up from Takeshi’s forehead. “Damn, it’s changing! Everyone, get back!” “But Takeshi-” “Now!” From the card, a monstrous hand came out. As they watched, a creature crawled out of the card and stood in front of Takeshi. It was grotesque- it had hair like a human that was disheveled, it had sharp tusks that pointed upward, on its face were what appeared to be a large pair of glasses with one of the lens cracked and in place of a right arm appeared to be a large pen, that suddenly unfolded to be a claw. “So that’s the Yōkai…” “Yōkai?” “Yup, the spirit possessing your son has revealed its true colors. The Yōkai in front of you is the Yūrei Hissha, also known as the Ghost Writer. It turned Takeshi-kun’s written thoughts into a reality.” “Uh….Hmm? Daddy?” “Takeshi!” Grabbing the belt, Geki put it on around his waist. “Now, which one of you should I use?” *Choose me, Geki.* “Oh, Bake-san wants me to use her. Alright, let’s go!” Holding up a card, Geki inserted it into the slot. *Yōkai: Nekomata! Kore De Hoshii?* As the belt began to light up, Geki posed. “Henshin.” Pushing down on the lever, the belt opened up revealing a mirror that then was filled with the image of a two tailed cat. Running forward, image was projected in front of him as a monstrous humanoid two tailed cat ran along side him. Going straight through the image, a black body suit formed on him as the humanoid two tailed cat split into pieces, combining with his suit, forming armor. As the helmet formed on his head, Geki punched the Yūrei Hissha out of the way and grabbed Takeshi, handing him to his father. “Takeshi!” “Daddy!” Hugging his son, Takeru looked at the transformed Geki. “Thank you, Geki.” “Sensei?” “Yeah, Takeshi-kun. I’m sensei. But in this form you can call me-” Looking back at the Yūrei Hissha, Geki noticed that it was getting ready to attack. Raising his hand, an orb of light began to form in Geki’s hand. “Exor.” Gripping the orb, it extended and formed a cat-head shaped firearm. Aiming it towards the Yūrei Hissha, Geki pressed the trigger and launched a fireball, knocking it out the window. “You two stay here. Uncle, let’s go.” “Right!” Just before they rushed out the door, Takeshi stood up on his feet. “Sensei!” Looking back at his student, Geki kneeled down in front of him. “What is it?” “Thank you!” “Hehe, no problem. Now, Sensei has to do something. You and your daddy go home, and be sure to write that story!” “Yes sir!” “And Takeru-san. Please, don’t leave Takeshi-kun alone to go partying again.” Takeru looked down at his son and held him close. “Of course…” “Now, excuse me.” As soon as they got outside, Geki and the principal noticed the Yūrei Hissha was trying to run away. “You won’t get away!” Running towards it, Geki began firing only for the attacks to be blocked. Running towards him, the Yūrei Hissha grabbed the firearm with its normal hand and thrust its claw forward at Geki, hitting him in the stomach. “Shit!” Geki was sent flying back and hit a wall, falling onto his feet. *Geki, be careful. It might be best to switch out of my form for now.* “If you say so, Bake-san.” *Geki, use me.* “Right, Anue.” Going through the deck of cards, Geki pulled out the one that spoke to him. Taking out the Nekomata card, Geki quickly inserted the other one. *Yōkai: Nue! Kore De Hoshii?* Hitting the lever again, the mirror on the belt’s image turned into a monkey with a snake for a tail. Projecting the image in front of him, Geki ran as the Nekomata armor flew off of him. Running along side him, a humanoid Nue ran alongside him, breaking up into his armor. Holding his hand out, the snake tail of the Nue turned into a whip, coiling it around his arm. Swinging forward, Geki wrapped the whip around the Yūrei Hissha’s leg, pulling it down. “Take this!” Thrusting his fist toward the Yūrei Hissha’s face, it disappeared and reappeared behind him, throwing Geki over its head. “Not so fast!” Using the whip, Geki wrapped it around the Yūrei Hissha’s arm and pulled it towards him. Punching it in the face, the Yūrei Hissha reeled back in pain as Geki punched it again, shattering its torso armor. “How do you like that?” Geki said, smugly smashing his fists together. The Yūrei Hissha looked on at him and growled. Holding up its pen-arm, the Yūrei Hissha wrote something in the air. “Eh, what does that say? ‘Torrent?’ Wha-” From the words, a blast of water hit Geki, causing him to fall back. The Yūrei Hissha laughed and wrote something else, aiming at the fallen Geki. “Lightning?” Above Geki, the sky grew dark as a bolt of lightning flashed down upon him. “GAAAAH!!! DAMN...Usually Anue’s power would negate this but...GAAAH!” Geki reeled in pain and reverted back into his human form as the Yūrei Hissha approached him. “Geki!” “Stay out of this, Uncle! I got this…” Standing in front of Geki, the Yūrei Hissha kicked him in the stomach, causing him to roll over into a lightpost. *Geki! Are you okay?* “Yeah Bake-san...how is Anue?” *He’s out cold. Quickly, use my power again!* “Bake-san...the Yūrei Hissha proved to be able to block your techniques...I can’t use you.” The Yūrei Hissha walked up to Geki and gripped his neck, holding him up in the air. “Damn it…” Geki struggled to get it to let him go, kick at its stomach and trying to pry its fingers from his neck. *Geki, quickly! Use me!* “Sorry Bake-san...I…” “Leave sensei alone!” The Yūrei Hissha turned to see Takeshi and Takeru there, holding onto the school’s fire hose. Aiming it at the Yūrei Hissha, the duo blasted it with a torrent of water, causing it to drop Geki. “Great, we made it angry now. Takeshi, daddy will go help sensei, wait here with the principal, okay?” “Yes daddy!” Running to Geki, Takeru picked him up. “You okay?” “Yeah...ugh...his grip was tight though. You might want to get out of the way…” “Come on, we can leave here together!” “No, I gotta handle this on my own…” *Sounds like you need my help then, Geki.* Takeru looked around before turning his attention back to Geki. “Who was that?” *Interesting, this human can hear me...You, human! Give me some of your Reiki!* “Reiki?” *Your life energy! Geki refused to give me some of his earlier, but he’s at the point where if he used me, he can’t transform. Please, give me your Reiki!* “Itachi...does this mean…” *Yes Geki, if this human gives me some Reiki, I can allow you to use Exor’s main form again. Human, do you trust me?* “...If it’s to help sensei, then yes!” *Geki, hand him my Talisman.* Geki did as he was told and dug through his deck of cards, handing one to Takeru. Holding onto it, Takeru watched as a white aura appeared over his hand and flowed into the Talisman. *Now, hand it to Geki! And hurry, the Yūrei Hissha is coming back!* Handing Geki the card, Takeru ran back to his son and watched on. “Ready, Itachi?” *Ready!* Inserting the Talisman into the slot, Geki ran towards the Yūrei Hissha. *Yōkai: Kamaitachi! Ryōkai!* “HENSHIN!” Hitting the lever, the belt opened up again revealing the mirror, whose image turned into that of a weasel. As Geki ran, a humanoid weasel ran alongside him with the wind picking up. Leaping through the projected image from the belt, Geki landed behind the Yūrei Hissha in a new form- the weasel’s head formed the helmet with its limbs folding shoulder armor. Its tail wrapped around his neck, forming a scarf. The armor shined in green and black as he reached forward. In front of Geki was a green orb that upon him grasping it, turned into a scythe. “That is the main form of Exor…” his uncle said, looking on in approval. “Will that really help him defeat that thing?” “Of course. After all, Itachi is Geki’s chosen partner.” *Here it comes!* Charging towards Geki, the Yūrei Hissha swung its arms forward. Without looking, Geki swung the scythe upward, cutting off the Yūrei Hissha’s pen-arm. “You can do better than that.” Geki then pressed the handle of the scythe into the ground and used it lift himself off the ground, kicking the Yūrei Hissha down. Swinging his scythe down onto the Yūrei Hissha, Geki was surprised by it holding its pen-arm in front of itself with its other hand. Swinging it around, the Yūrei Hissha wrote the word “RESTORE” in the air. In an instant, the damaged pen-arm was reattached. “Ho-ho, now this is interesting.” Pushing Geki away, the Yūrei Hissha then wrote the word “MISSILE” in the air over and over again. Geki looked around at the sky to see that several missiles were flying towards him. “Sensei!” Takeshi yelled, running towards Geki. “Takeshi!” Takeru was about to follow his son when the principal held him back. “Let me go, my son is-” “Leave it to Geki.” Looking up at the principal, Takeru could see the truth in his eyes. “Don’t worry, Takeru-san. My uncle is right. I can handle this.” Gripping the blade of the scythe, Geki pulled it apart and outward, turning it into a scythe with blades at both ends. Turning the blade to face the opposite direction, Geki hurled it into the sky. As the blades spinned, they sliced and diced each missile in an instant, causing the sky to be lit with explosions. “Was that all you go?” Geki asked the Yūrei Hissha. Looking at what he had done to his attack, the Yūrei Hissha wrote the word “FLY” in the air. Sprouting wings, it turned to the sky began to fly off at incredible speed. “It’s getting away!” “No it’s not,” Geki said, holding up the Talisman he had placed on Takeshi’s forehead earlier. “Wait here.” Geki put the scythe back together into it’s original configuration and held it with both hands. The wind gathered around Geki and lifted him off the ground towards the Yūrei Hissha. Inserting the Blank Talisman into his belt, the belt announced *Yōkai: Kamaitachi! BLANK. Ryōkai!* Spinning in midair, Geki flew foot first at the Yūrei Hissha, piercing through it. Stopping in midair right in front of it, Geki looked at it- he could see the fear in its eyes. “Rest in peace,” he said, swinging his scythe at the Yūrei Hissha, slicing it into two vertical halves. Looking at Geki, the Yūrei Hissha reached out to him before exploding. Holding out the Blank Talisman, Geki watched as the explosion was absorbed into the card. Landing back on the ground, Geki cancelled his transformation and looked towards Takeshi. “See? It’s alright,” he said, holding up the newly formed Yūrei Hissha Talisman. ___ “Sensei!” Takeshi ran up to Geki as he got off his motorcycle. “Oh, Takeshi-kun. How are you?” I’m good sensei, and look! Daddy came too!” Walking up behind him, Takeru reached his hand out. “Thank you, for what you did for my son.” “No problem,” Geki said, shaking his hand. “And you should know, that I’ve decided...my son needs me there. And so, I will be sure to pick him up today after I close up shop,” Takeru said with a smile. “Yay! Daddy, you mean it?” “Yes son, daddy will be here, so be sure to wait inside with sensei before I pick you up, okay?” “Okay!” Watching Takeshi run into the school, Takeru smiled and began to walk off. “Oh yeah, if you ever want some sweets, be sure to stop by.” “Sure thing.” Geki began to walk towards the doors of the school as the children ran past him. “I’m glad things worked out for that family,” he said to himself, unaware he was being watched from afar. “So...he’s the one, huh? Oh, this will be good.” Passing 1 END Next Time: Geki: You see Takeshi-kun, there are a few Yōkai Talismans I have with me. Takeru: Sensei, come quick, it’s- ???: I need it, please...let me feed! Setsu: No!!! No!!! Let me go! Passing 2: No Words, One Bite.

Passing 2: No Words, One Bite. Another day teaching his class led Geki to be exhausted. Resting his head at his desk, Geki felt a tap on his shoulder and looked up. “Eh...Takeshi-kun, please, let Sensei sleep…” “But Sensei, I wanted to learn about Exor.” “Eh? You want to learn about me?” “Uh-huh! How did you become Exor?!” Looking around the room, Geki noted that he was left alone with Takeshi. Taking the case out from under his desk, Geki opened it and held up the mysterious belt. “This is the ExorcistDriver. You see, although my family stems from a long line of exorcists, they had to rely on old methods. I developed this with help from a friend to harness the power of my Yōkai.” “Yōkai?” Reaching back into the case, Geki pulled out the cards he had used the other day. “You see Takeshi-kun, there are a few Yōkai Talismans I have with me. The ones I used yesterday were Bake-San, Anue and Itachi.” “Bake-San? Anue? Itachi?” “These guys here!” Geki said smiling, holding up three cards. Takeshi took them in hand and looked them over- the one on the left portrayed a cat with two tails and fire behind it, the middle depicted a monkey with tiger limbs and a snake for a tail with a forest behind it, and the last one had a weasel holding a scythe with a cyclone behind it. “You see, Itachi was the first one to join me, he’s my special partner. Then I found Bake-San and Anue.” “Did you name them?” “Yup, based on the kind of Yōkai they are!” *Well, you got my name wrong.* “Eh? Whose voice was that?” *Mine, child.* Takeshi looked in his hand as the Nekomata Talisman floated up. “Eh, but Bake-San, you’re a Bakeneko, aren’t you?” *NO! I am a Nekomata! And for the last time, my name is Matako!* The Talisman dropped back onto the desk as Takeshi noticed something sticking out of the deck. “Sensei, isn’t that-” “Oh, yeah, that’s the Yōkai I sealed from you. The Yurei Hissha.” Taking the Talisman in hand, Geki put the ExorcistDriver on and inserted the Talisman into the slot. *Yōkai: Yurei Hissha! Drawing.* Holding his hand up, Geki wrote the characters for “cake” in the air. In a couple of seconds, a chocolate cake materialized on his desk. “Want some?” “WOW! But Sensei, how come you didn’t transform?” “It’s because he and I didn’t form a Contract.” “Contract?” “Yeah, a Contract. It’s like an agreement. You see, when I first became Exor, Itachi and I formed a Contract. Bake-San-” *Matako!* “Er...Matako and Anue then formed a SubContract with me based on what Itachi and I agreed on. Last time when I fought, it was my first time actually using the ExorcistDriver, which is why it seemed to not notice which Talisman I put in until I put in Itachi’s.” “Could I become an Exorcist?” Takeshi said with a large smile on his face. “Ah...You can’t. I’m sorry.” “But why not?” “To be an Exorcist, you have to have either an Exorcist bloodline or made a contract with a Yōkai that possesses you.” Takeshi looked down in disappointment and noticed another Talisman in Geki’s deck. “Sensei, who is this?” “Ah, that’s-” Geki’s phone went off as he reached for the Talisman. “Oh, hold on a minute Takeshi-kun...oh, it’s your daddy! Probably wondering where you are. Hello?” “Sensei, come quick, it’s-” ___ Riding his motorcycle through the casino district, Geki parked it and looked around. “Takeshi-kun, are you sure you want to be here with me?” “Yes Sensei! Plus, someone has to carry your case for you!” “Sensei, over here!” “Daddy!” Running to his father, Takeshi didn’t notice something following behind him. “Look out!” Pushing Takeshi out of the way, Geki then spun around and punched the Yōkai in its face. “Sensei, what’s that?” Geki looked at it and stood his ground- the Yōkai had two large monstrous looking mouths on the side of its head, lacking a mouth where it should have been. Its body was obviously female, wearing a torn kimono. It’s fingers ended with grotesque claws. “Two mouths...a Futakuchi-Onna, huh? Who wants to have a go?” *I shall, Geki!* Reaching into his pocket, Geki pulled out the Talisman that Takeshi was looking at earlier. “You sure about this, Kap?” *Ah, let me at her!* “Okay! HENSHIN!” Taking the Talisman and inserting it into the slot, Geki hit the lever and rose his hand up. *Yōkai: Kappa! Suichū-sō!* With the image projecting from the mirror on the ExorcistDriver, Geki ran forward as a watery manifestation of a Kappa ran alongside him. Colliding with him, the Kappa formed his armor- similar to the Kamaitachi Spirit, the Kappa Spirit had a blue tone with the a flowing cape behind him. Reaching his hand out, a blue orb appeared. Grasping the orb, it began to take shape before becoming a large oar-shaped axe. “Get her Sensei!!!” “Eh? Why should I?” “Eh?” “Oi, Sensei, are you okay?” “Ah, yeah, yeah, I’m fine. Here, I’ll handle her!” Running towards the Futakuchi-Onna, Exor rose the axe in the air. “Yeah! Get her Sensei!” Just as it appeared that he was about to strike, Takeshi and his father were surprised to see Exor toss the weapon aside. “Excuse me, kind woman, would you join me for tea?” “Eh?” *Oi, Kap! Why are you in control?!* “Oh, Geki, thought you would’ve been sleeping.” “Sensei, what’s going on?” Putting his hand behind his head and scratching it, Exor shrugged his shoulders and sighed. “Ah, you see, I’m Kap.” After a few minutes in silence, Takeshi looked at him and said in English: “What?” “Haha...you see, whenever Geki uses me, I get full control of his body. Now, if you excuse me-” Turning his attention back to the Futakuchi-Onna, Kap wrapped his arm around her. “How about we get a nice-” The Futakuchi-Onna smacked him in the face and grabbed the cape. Pulling with all her might, she threw Exor over her shoulder and into a nearby fountain. “Ow...Tough one...I like that!” *Stupid Kap! Switch now!* Kap looked down to feel his arm reaching for the Talisman Case on the side of the ExorcistDriver. “No, wait!” Opening the case, his arm took out a Talisman and quickly put it into the slot. *Yōkai: Nekomata! Jigoku Shōka!* The Kappa armor flew off of Exor’s body and hit the Futakuchi-Onna, knocking her back as the mirror on the Driver switched to that of a Nekomata. This time, Bake-San’s manifestation appeared behind him and leapt up, turning into his armor as it flew down and collided with his body. Reaching forward, a red orb appeared as Exor gripped it, turning it into a fiery cat-like gun. “Thanks Bake-San, I’m in control again.” *The name’s Matako, and you’re welcome.* “I’m still not going to get used to that.” Running towards the Futakuchi-Onna, Geki opened fire on the Yōkai, burning off part of its kimono. Raising his arm, claws deployed from his gauntlet and he swiped forward to find her holding onto his wrist. Twisting it, the Futakuchi-Onna spun him around and kicked him back before fleeing. “Wait!..Ugh...damn…” ___ Several minutes later, Geki was in Kodomo Jidai getting his arm bandaged by Takeru. “Ow!” “Sorry...What exactly was that Yōkai?” “A Futakuchi-Onna…” “The two mouthed woman?” “Yes...In legends, the Futakuchi-Onna is known as a Yōkai who spawns from a woman who eats very little to appease her husband. Due to her lack of proper nutrients, her body demands them so much that they cause a second mouth to appear on the back of her head. This second mouth then uses her hair as limbs to grab the food and devour whatever it can get her hands on.” Finishing up on Geki’s arm, Takeru got up and paced back and forth. “So what you’re saying is-” “The host this time is a woman...Takeru-san, would you mind keeping an eye out while I’m teaching at the school? Let me know as soon as possible if you can find anything.” Handing him a Talisman, Geki started to head out the door before he fell to his knees. “Damn it...using Kap drained me...Is it fine if I stay here tonight?” “No problem, Takeshi, show Sensei to the guest room. But um, Sensei…why did you hand me one of your Talismans?” “That’s Anue’s.” “...EH?!!?!” “If anything happens, he’ll be able to notify me quicker.” “Um...can he come out and fight the Yōkai?” “Nope. None of my Yōkai can escape from their Talismans.” “But-” “Now Takeshi-kun, please show me to the room.” “Right away Sensei.” Following the child upstairs, they walked past his room and found their way to the guest room. Setting down his ExorcistDriver and Talismans, Geki immediately jumped into bed and fell asleep. While he laid there resting, he didn’t hear the conversation his Yōkai were having as their Talismans lit up. *What the hell, Kap?! You almost got him killed out there!* *Bake-San, you’re being too harsh…* *No she’s not. Kap, you almost got him killed. It’s like this every time we fight against other Yōkai, you are always too reckless and take complete control. Remember, I’m his partner. You and the others are just subcontractors. We have to share our powers with him, not make his body our own.* *You know, I don’t even know why he picked you up. He could’ve easily had a stronger Water Elementa-* *Shut up!...You know what, I’m not going to talk to you guys anymore! Good night!* *Oi, Kap-* *I said good night!* Kap’s Talisman stopped glowing as Itachi’s and Bake-San’s became a little dimmer. *Matako, you know that was uncalled for.* *But Itachi, you said it yourself. Geki needs us to share our power, not take all of his. And I know how your body is...you have the biggest burden out of all of us...I just want to help you.* *...Thanks Matako. I guess we should rest too. We’ll talk to Kap in the morning.* *Good night Itachi.* *Good night, Matako.* The next morning, Geki was awoken by the sound of breaking glass. Getting up from his bed, he found that one of the Talismans was missing. “Itachi, Bake-San! Kap’s gone!” *WHAT?!* Running down the stairs, Geki passed by Takeshi and Takeru. “Oi, Sensei, what about class?” “Oh right...Takeru-san! Kap is missing, while you’re out looking for the Futakuchi-Onna, can you look for him too?” “EH?! I thought you said your Yōkai couldn’t escape from your Talismans?!” “Now that I think about it, Kap and I never made a full contract...so he’s able too! Please, find him alright? I’ll take Takeshi-kun to school!” Picking up Takeshi, Geki ran out the door and placed him in the sidecar. Revving his motorcycle, Geki left in a hurry as Takeru walked out of Kodomo Jidai with a stressed look on his face. “Great, first I was supposed to find a two mouthed woman, and now I have to look for a kappa! Mako, dear, if you’re watching over me, remind me to never let Sensei stay over again.” As he began to head inside, he didn’t hear the rustling on the side of his shop. “Oh my, I’m finally out of that Talisman again. Now...what should I do? It’s too early to go to one of those brothels...and I’m sure my form is less that pleasing to people...I guess I’ll head over to a river or something...what am I thinking?! I am Kap! Prince of Kappas! I deserve to go where I want to in this world!” Looking back and forth, Kappa slowly walked away from his hiding spot and made his way down the street. ___ Slowing down in front of the school, Geki helped Takeshi out of the sidecar as Setsu ran up to them. “Sensei!” “Oh, hey Setsu-kun.” Noticing Setsu’s mother walking behind him, Geki extended his hand out to her. “Hello, I’m your son’s teacher, Geki Hantā. You can call me Hantā-sensei.” “Hello Sensei, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Kotoha. I hope my son hasn’t been causing problems for you.” “Of course not, Setsu is a little bit free-spirited, but that’s always welcome around here.” Geki looked at Kotoha and noticed that she looked tired. “Are you okay? You look like you need some rest.” “No, I’m okay, I’ve just been at work a lot recently. Setsu, be a nice boy for Sensei, okay?” Petting her son's head, Kotoha began to walk away as Geki pulled out one of his Talismans. *Yōkai: Yurei Hissha! Drawing.* Writing in the air, Geki wrote out the word "tracker" as a small paper bird appeared in front of him. "Follow her, make sure she's alright." As he watched the bird fly away, Geki motioned to Setsu and Takeshi to follow him into the classroom. “Say, Setsu-kun...what kind of job does your mother have?” “Mommy works in an office, but she always comes home early.” “I see...well, how does this sound- do you and Takeshi-kun want to help me distribute this candy I bought from Takeshi-kun’s candy shop to the rest of your class?” “Yes sir!” “Okay Sensei!” As he watched the two go inside, Geki smiled and walked in as well, unaware that the paper bird he had created was falling from the sky, shredded. “Now now...we can’t have that happening, can we?” ___ “Ugh! I need some booze!” Kap was wandering the streets, wearing a heavy cloak so no one would see his true appearance. As he sat down at a vendor’s cart, Kap sighed and looked down at his Talisman. “Those guys didn’t need to be so harsh…I know I’m not Geki’s true partner, but still… They don’t know my true story…” “Can I sit here?” Kap turned to see Takeru behind him. “GYA!!! I mean...sure, go ahead.” Sitting beside him, Takeru gestured to the vendor. “A beer please...Hey, want one?” “Uh...yeah, but I don’t got any cash…” “It’s on me. Of course, I’m only getting just one.” “Why? You’re a guy in his prime, surely you could have more!” “Well, I got a kid to think about...and if it weren’t for his teacher, I wouldn’t be thinking about him. You gotta understand that feeling of having loved ones, right?” Kap looked down and tucked the Talisman away in his pocket. “Uh...you see, I...well, my current family doesn’t seem to like me so much.” “Current family?” “Ah, yeah. You see, I was the eldest child in a large family that consisted of my brothers and sisters and my father...but one day, we got into a fight with our family’s enemies...I was the only male child left...instead of facing them head on, I ran...I left my brothers to die.” “Your brothers died? What kind of fight was that?!” “It was a while back...the gang that went against my family had a long standing grudge with us...after I ran, my father found out and kicked me out… My sisters begged with him and pleaded to let me come back, but my father had enough of that. You see, my family was pretty influential where I grew up, so had I stayed, I would’ve disgraced the family...after wandering for a bit, I met my current family...and even though they are nice to me, I take them for granted too often. I’m supposed to be helping them but honestly, all I ever think of is myself!” Kap’s eyes were filled with tears as Takeru patted him on the back. “Hey, there there buddy. You just have to show them that you do care. I mean, they let you into their family right?” Kap quickly grabbed for a beer and drank it down. “Feel better?” Nodding his head, Kap grabbed Takeru’s beer and handed it to him. “I’m Takeru,” he said, holding out his hand. “And you are?” “K-” Before he could respond, the pair heard screaming behind them. Turning quickly, they saw the Futakuchi-Onna, grabbing at someone, attempting to bite them. “Crap! There she is! Um...Anue-san, please, contact Geki!” *Zzzz…* “He’s still asleep?! Damn it...Whatever your name is, you have to get out of-” Throwing his cloak off, Kap reached forward. A blue orb appeared in front of him, and upon grabbing it, it turned into a staff. “Takeru-san, please call Geki and evacuate the people here. I’ll hold her off as much as I can.” “You’re...Kap?” “Yeah...Now, let this Prince of the Kappas redeem himself for his selfish behavior.” Running towards the Futakuchi-Onna, Kap swung his staff down, hitting her arm and loosening the grip she had on the civilian. “Don’t worry, I’m not like her. I’ll hold her off, run!” “You shouldn’t have done that…” Turning his attention back to the Futakuchi-Onna, Kap rose his staff up in a defensive stance. “Hehe, looks like we got an intelligent Yōkai here…” “And you seem to have fallen into my trap.” Kap noticed the voice was coming from behind him but kept his gaze at the Futakuchi-Onna before feeling the pain of something biting into his shoulder. ___ Back at the school, it was almost time for all the students to go home. Geki was organizing his desk when he noticed Takeshi and Setsu still sitting down. Walking towards them, Geki placed his bag to the side of Setsu’s desk. “Hey, is everything alright?” “Ah...Sensei...Can I ask you something?” “What is it, Setsu-kun?” “Well...my mommy said that daddy’s going to live somewhere else now...Do you know what that means?” “Ah...Setsu-kun, I-” Before he could finish, Geki felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. “Excuse me one minute, Setsu-kun. Hello?” *Sensei, it’s Takeru. Come here quickly, it’s the Futakuchi-Onna! I managed to get people out of here, but Kap’s still fighting her-* “Kap’s there?!” *Yes, and he’s trying to hold her off right now! He needs your help! We’re downtown at the shopping district!* Putting his phone away, Geki grabbed for his bag and began to head to the door. “Takeshi-kun, Setsu-kun, can you come with me please? Takeshi-kun, get the case.” “Yes Sensei!” Running behind Geki’s desk, Takeshi pulled out the case and ran behind his teacher. “Come on Setsu, you’re gonna see something cool!” As they rushed out the door, the two children sat in the sidecar as Geki revved his motorcycle. “We’ll need to get there quickly...Bake-San...er...Matako...gah, this is confusing…” *Just call me Bake-San Geki, it seems that is the name you are more comfortable with anyway.* “Oh, okay, Bake-San, you wanna be the one to help this time?” *Okay!* Gesturing to Takeshi to open the case, Geki was handed his ExorcistDriver and the Nekomata Talisman. “HENSHIN!” *Yōkai: Nekomata! Jigoku Shōka!* As the armor formed on Geki, his motorcycle began to glow before bursting into flames. “WAH! FIRE!” “Calm down Takeshi-kun, everything is alright.” Waving his hand, the fire was extinguished as the motorcycle had changed shape- the entire motorcylce was covered in a cat’s skeleton with the sidecar painted with a flame pattern. “Machine ExorCycle, now launching.” Revving the engine, Geki put it into full throttle and drove forward, leaving a trail of fire behind him. “That’s...Sensei?” “Yup! But you can call him Exor!” As they made their way down to where Takeru had told him, Geki stopped his motorcycle and got off of it. “Stay here.” Geki ran up to where Takeru was, finding him helping a civilian up from under some rubble. “Here, let me help.” Lifting it with little effort, Geki took the person’s arm and lifted him up, sitting him into a nearby seat. “Where’s Kap?” “Over there! And quickly! I don’t know if he can last much longer!” Running in the direction where Takeru was pointing, Geki arrived just in time to catch Kap. “Kap, are you alright?” “Ah...Geki...Did...I do good?” Looking towards the Futakuchi-Onna, Geki could see there was two of them, but they only had one mouth on each side. “They could split apart?” “Yeah...be careful...the one on the right still has the host inside it…” “What?” “Sensei, what’s going on?” Geki was alarmed by the voice and turned in its direction. “Setsu, get out of here!” Geki’s words however were too slow, and the young boy was caught by the right-sided Futakuchi-Onna. “Setsu! Let him go!” “I need it...Please...let me feed!” “Damn, it does still have its host!” Holding up his gun, Geki opened fire only. “Hehehe...nice try...but as long as I have my host in me, I can switch my elemental affinity. And guess what? I chose fire. So thanks for the meal!” Raising Setsu to her mouth, the young boy began to scream and cry. “No!!! No!!! Let me go! Mommy!” “Oh dear child...you can’t tell, can you?” Placing its hand on its face, the Futakuchi-Onna ripped its face off and threw it on the floor. “Your mother is right here.”“Kotoha-san was the host?!” “Ah, so that’s this human’s name. Well yes, she is. Child, if I am correct, your parents are getting a divorce, right?” “A divorce?” “You see, this child’s father had a little infidelity. So my host here decided that rather than get mad at her husband, she’d try and make herself more attractive. So she ate less, worked out more, but that wasn’t enough for her husband. He told her the spark was gone. And that’s when I started to form within her soul. Oh, these feelings of loneliness are too much! Now...If I were to eat her child, she’d truly be alone!” Laughing maniacally, the face of the Futakuchi-Onna flew from the ground and back up at Kotoha’s face. Opening its side mouth, the Futakuchi-Onna began to raise Setsu up. “Don’t worry child, you’ll be with your mommy soon.” “NO!” “Let him go!” Kap pushed Geki back and charged towards the Futakuchi-Onna, hitting her with his staff. Catching Setsu, Kap threw him back to Geki. “Geki! I’m sorry!” “Kap…” “I know I’ve been selfish...I know I’ve been a pain...but please...don’t abandon me! I can be there for you! So please, let me!” “Kap...Setsu, run back to Takeshi. Kap and I will free your mother.” Holding out a Blank Talisman, Geki attached it to the barrel of his gun. “Kap, now!” Kap ran behind the Futakuchi-Onna and grabbed her arms, holding her in front of Geki’s blast. As the Talisman collided with her forehead, the Yōkai began to squirm and scream in pain as it was separated from Kotoha. “Mommy!” Setsu attempted to run to his mother when Takeru ran in front of him. Catching her, Takeru began to run back towards the kids. “Mommy! Mommy!” “Setsu, she’s still breathing, she’s alright. Geki...get them.” “No problem. Kap, are you really still willing to be one of my partners?” “Ah...Yeah.” Walking over to Geki, Kap stood by his side as the two Futakuchi-Onnas reformed into one. “Geki, here.” Handing him his Talisman, Kap’s form evaporated as the Talisman began to glow with a blue light. “Bake-San, we’re gonna switch out. Kap, let’s go.” *Got it Geki!* *Yōkai: Kappa! Suichū-sō!* With the image projecting from the mirror on the ExorcistDriver, Geki ran forward as a watery manifestation of a Kappa ran alongside him. Reaching forward, a blue orb appeared in front of him. Grasping it, Geki swung as the oar-like axe collided with the Futakuchi-Onna. “You should’ve stayed with your other element, cause right now, you’re weak to my moves!” Swinging the weapon again and again, Geki managed to cut off one of the mouths. “Kyaah!” Screeching in pain, the Futakuchi-Onna grabbed its fallen mouth and threw it at Geki. Turning the blade onto its flat-side, Geki swung it, knocking the mouth back at her. As she fell to the ground, Geki began to slowly make his way to her. *Geki, look out! To your left!* Geki leapt to the side as the separated mouth jumped up from the ground. Snapping its jaws, the mouth began to move and mutated into another Futakuchi-Onna. “Two on one again, huh?” *Geki, let me take control!* “Kap?” *I can do something to help!* “...Okay then, go for it!” In a second, Exor’s body went limp. Jolting up in an instant, Exor brandished its weapon and placed it down. “Let’s do this thing. Mizu Bushin!” Putting his hands together, Kap pulled them apart slowly as another one of his weapons formed in front of him. Grasping the axe, Kap charged forward and swung both, cutting the Futakuchi-Onnas in half. “Ha, that settles...that?” Kap watched on as the Futakuchi-Onnas became 4. “Damn, looks like no matter how many times I cut, they’ll just sprout more.” Kap shrugged and rose the axes again and swept them towards the Futakuchi-Onnas, cutting them into more pieces until they formed about 20 Futakuchi-Onnas. “Sensei! What are you doing! You’re just making more of them!” “Oi, kid, it’s alright, watch what I can do.” Taking the Blank Talisman that was on the original Futakuchi-Onna, Kap inserted it into the ExorcistDriver. *Yōkai: Kappa! BLANK. Suichū-sō!* Leaping into the air, Kap threw his weapons up above his head. As the floated above his head, Kap made several hand symbols before raising them above his head. Water began to flow out of his hands and up to the weapons creating a large amount of them. Swinging his arms forward, they all flew towards the Futakuchi-Onnas, cutting them down. As they exploded into pieces, Kap threw the Blank Talisman at one of them before it flew back up to him. Falling down to the ground, Kap took off the ExorcistDriver, reverting back to Geki. “Another one sealed.” ___ The following day, Geki led his students to the hospital where Kotoha was at. With flowers and paper cranes in hand, they opened the door to find someone already there. “Daddy?” “Oh, Takeshi! Haha, you see, daddy wanted to see how Kotoha-san was doing. He’ll be going now.” Takeru got up from his seat and was about to leave when he felt a tug on his sleeve. “Kotoha-san?” “Takeru-san...um...if you want, you can stay here longer.” “Ah...okay…” Sitting back down, Takeru smiled at Takeshi and Setsu, who ran up to Kotoha’s bedside. “Glad to see things are alright now, Kotoha-san.” “Ah, Sensei...thank you.” “It’s no problem. Well children, you can all give your gifts to Setsu’s mommy, I have to go back down and fill out our visitors’ paperwork.” As he walked out of the room, Geki pulled out his Talismans. *Oi, Anue, why didn’t you alert Geki about the Futakuchi-Onna?* *Ah...sorry, I was still asleep.* *Good thing Kap was there!* *Ah...Bake-san...Itachi...Geki...I’m sorry about what I did.* *As long as you don’t do it again, we’ll be fine Kap.* *Itachi…* *Yeah, I guess I can be a bit harsh. Well, it makes sense, I am the Fire Elemental here after all.* *Oh yeah,* Kap said laughing. “Glad you all made up now,” Geki said, smiling down at them. Walking down the stairs, Geki didn’t see the hooded figure watching from the windows. “So...he’s sealed another potential...good thing I know of another…” said the figure, holding up a scroll before opening it. Passing 2 END Next Time: Geki: Four elements...There’s one more according to my notes. Takeru: Oh that family? Some say they have been blessed! ???: I won’t let you separate me from her! ???: Exor...You’ve been a thorn in my side. Now get out of my way! Passing 3: The Goddess of Luck and The Demon's Plaything
