I find it simply fascinating how a single episode and such a simple twist can reframe the show and its characters so radically. Up until the latest episode, I didn't think much of this show. It wasn't bad, and it was technically impressive, but I didn't have much of an opinion on the characters or the plot. It all seemed too straightforward and a little bland. Now, though? Damn.
In particular, the conflict between Can Yu's idealism and the reality of Yun Xiao's failure to meet the ideal is really interesting to me. It really makes the latter appear as a truly reprehensible person, so twisted by his need to keep up appearances that he has thrown away everything else. The conflict within Can Yu is palpable, and definitely has me invested in what he will do in this last stretch of the show. I really do expect him to end up doing the right thing--though I also expect that it will cost him his life. And rip the Screaming Phoenix Killer. A badass to the end. You know, I really do enjoy his sort of singularly focused character. Having him throw shade at the others was also great. Deefinitely looking forward to seeing how the end of the show shapes up. |

Yeah that last episode did a number on me because I was a huge Shou Yun Xiao fan and seeing his true feelings made me break down a bit lol. Though Juan Can Yun, Dan Fei, and Shang Bu Huan I love though I'm still doing good.
The Screaming Phoenix Killer was an amazing character too bad he had to meet the fate of the Urobutcher lol.

And the pay off was amazing IMO, the action scene in episode 12 with the wooden stick is so good. The last episode was great too, I wished the Demon God would’ve been an actual puppet and the fight would've been a bit longer, but the way they ended it with Shāng pulling a Matrix-style armory scene with the scroll was great. I'm happy they're making a sequel. |

This has been my favourite show of the year so far. So happy to see it getting a sequel.
Also nice to see if getting Nendoroids, but I'd love it if GSC could pump out some figures that look like the actual puppets (3A would be good at something like that, but this probably isn't in their interests). A whole set would be far too pricey but I'd love the Screaming Phoenix Killer.

Figures reminiscent of the actual puppets would be awesome though, if they could make figma's which actually look like the puppets that would be ideal. But I think you’re right, unless a company who works with such things gets their hands on the license it won’t happen. In fact if GSC continues making Thunderbolt Fantasy figures I’m pretty sure they will be either cutesy stuff or figures based on the manga version of the show. Which looks absolutely horrible IMO. |

Oh Figma would definitely be welcome (and at least allow me to buy the whole cast) but I get the sneaking suspicion that none of these are going to look quite right unless they come with fabric clothes etc. just because of how great the puppets look. So that really just leaves either a 12" scale or doll line to choose from - neither of which usually come cheap.

Doesn't the Good Smile Company make Figma as well? Because I know they sponsor this series so I imagine it happening. I could see them turn out well because their are anime images of them that look really well. I just need figures of Shang Bu Huan and Lin Xue Ya stat lol.

Finally got around to finishing the series. The last episodes were pretty great. I'm almost disappointed that Yun Xiao died in the manner he did, but when I really think about it the fact that he just got backstabbed and then was never brought up again is a pretty fitting end for the bastard. All in all, the fights at the end were just pretty neat, and there were some great character moments in there. Lin Xue Ya losing his cool for the first time when Tien Hai destroyed the sword may just be my favorite scene in the whole show. It was great.
And yeah, super glad there's gonna be a sequel! I've been thinking this since fairly early in the show, but the world they've set up is one that appears to be wide and full to the brim with interesting characters and lore, and the show, good as it was, barely scratched the surface of it. Definitely looking forward to more. |

So would it be a good idea to describe this to friend as "Bleach with Puppets and written by the Madoka Magica guy?"
