Man. I really wish Ghost was half this cool in his own show. There's a lot of neat things going on with him in his short appearance in this movie, and pretty much none of it carried over to the real thing. Pretty sad.
Movie was ok, I guess. Bunch of weird parts, definitely a lot of unneeded drama and crying here and there, probably way too much cgi, but ok. Man the Dark Drive suit is sexy. I want that as a Figuarts so very bad. |

I enjoyed it, going sound bias as a huge Drive fan but I really did enjoy it. It's was pretty neat seeing how the whole DArk Drive thing turned out even knowing the plot before hand. It's cool in a sense Dark Drive is actually a good guy in the future, and the successor to Drive.
The action and story was nicely paced, one of the few riders movie where I didn't get to bored at any parts in the movie. Also I agree with the Ghost cameo, trying not to stray to off topic on the movie it self. It is kinda hard seeing Ghost/Takeru act as such in his own show since he was a cool mysterious kicking butt rider in the movie and the drives last episode, but being a bit to whinney in the show especially when Specter appears.

This was good. Probably the best summer movie I've seen, especially with the tie ins to the show that it had. Dark Drive was cool (Heck, so were the other movie forms), the plot was fairly strong, and more Chase
But yeah, Ghost's cameo felt really different from his actual show. Probably because of the time travel he had to do to get there

It was an overall solid and fun movie, but the first half felt kinda rush imho. 30 minutes more would have helped the movie's pacing a lot, especially giving Eji and Shinnosuke more proper bonding-time. The second half was pretty neat though.

I enjoyed this film a lot - its by far the best summer Rider movie since A-Z and I'd go as far to say its one of my favourites overall. The visuals were spectacular and the emotion was incredible. Even when we barely knew Eiji at all I really felt it when he was killed, which made it all the more shocking when the twist came about at the end of the fight.
The one thing that brought it down for me though was trying to wrap my head around some of the time travel stuff in it. So the belt was destroyed in the past, but this didn't affect the future belt because that went on to become Tomari's new belt (and thus stolen in the future), but then that very same belt wouldn't have come back into the past because Roidmude 108 was destroyed in the past preventing him from ever coming back in the first place... also what happened the NEXTridoron? Is that just hanging in the past somewhere too I dunno, I clearly think about things like this too much Also, as much as I really appreciate the links to the series they could have signposted "evil" belt Krim a lot better. There was next to no context for it in the movie itself and it took me a while to remember what happened in the show's lead up to the movie. And as a final note, Ghost's cameo was spectacular. If only he was anything like that in his own show

An enjoyable romp with characters that I miss. Even Lt. Otta and the Chief didn't diminish the action that Surprise Future provided. I liked the little twist with Eiji, which I didn't see coming. And I wish they had named it "Time Road" instead of "Surprise Future".
I miss Chase, and seeing him just gave me the feels. Same with Go to an extent. My only gripe? Not enough Heart, Brain, or Medic. Ghost's whooshing effects were probably the best thing for the character, otherwise all he did was fly around a bit and do an Omega Drive.

This film was SIIIICK. Tight direction, great shots, fantastic action and a pretty good plot twist.
