Eh eh oh!!!
Raise up your flag if you know what I mean TokuNation is proud to finally present a gallery of one of the more hotly anticipated figures this year. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gaim Kachidoki Arms! Recently released at mass retail Kachidoki Arms is already in short supply, fetching about 6000 yen or more on the secondary market. Now let's jump in to our extensive look at this wonderful figure. **This is a HUGE gallery split into two posts, 40 images each. Packaging As has become tradition with Kamen Rider Gaim figuarts Kachidoki Arms comes in a wonderfully detailed box. Though Kachidoki clearly isn't a fruit but more of a robot samurai warlord mega orange tank of destruction, the box is themed in much the same manner as previous releases. Sort of a fruit bisection for the window, with great stock shots of the figure (which simply do not do it justice). Main Figure Let's just get it out of the way now, Kamen Rider Gaim Kachidoki Arms is glorious. Absolutely glorious. Forgetting whether you've seen the series or not, whether you've ever seen this suit design or not, it's a masterpiece in toy form. Let's start with the basic sculpt of things. Kachidoki Arms is magnificently detailed. I thought at the time that Gaim Orange Arms was released that Bandai had set a new bar for realistic detail on a figuart. With kachidoki in hand it feels almost as though they've set that bar even higher. In just about every way this figure captures the look of the on screen counterpart nearly perfectly. Just look at that head sculpt and the intricate detailing that's present, well, everywhere. There may be a few soft spots like the chest emblem but on the whole this bad boy is badass. The armor has crisp edges and sharp paint details, and on top of that works fantastically. Seriously the armor barely hinders the articulation of the basic Gaim body at all! Each of the skirt pieces can hinge up to an almost 90 degree angle and (depending on the tightness of the joints figure to figure) can maintain that position freely. You can actually get Gaim completely kneeling on two legs in a totally natural looking way. The shoulder armor is likewise hinged and ball jointed to not only allow for upward movement but also back/forward movement. Allowing you to really take advantage of some great action poses. Meanwhile the added attachments that run from the chest to the waist armor are actually made of a fairly soft rubbery plastic that's flexible enough to allow for a mostly normal range of waist movement. Speaking of the waist the Sengoku Drive belt is crazy loose, almost free spinning really. It's not bad and doesn't hurt the figures performance, it's just odd that it sits so loosely. You might also think that all this additional armor would mean this guy is off balance. Wrong. This thing is capable of the same types of poses that your standard Gaim would be. Now where this figure really shines is with the included accessories. Accessories Kamen Rider Gaim Kachidoki Arms is no slouch on the accessory count either. It really does include everything it could possibly need: 3 - sets of alternate hands. More than enough to adequately create whatever scenes you choose. 2 of these alt sets are specifically meant for holding the alternate forms of the DJ Gun so that leaves only one set of "expressive" hands. But that's okay. 1 - closed Kachidoki Lockseed. This of course is in addition to the already included opened lock that comes packaged on Gaim's driver and is removable. Having both gives you the option of attaching one version or the other to his belt and weapons to reenact specific scenes. As I've said before I don't particularly find much use for the extra locks but welcome their inclusion. 2 - Kachidoki Bata. These two flags emblazoned with Gaim's crest are actually pretty rad. The flags come pre-assembled so that Gaim can hold them and use them as weapons right out of the box. They look nice and are of course hard plastic as cloth items aren't really present in the SHF line. But cloth flags would have been nice. As is they're quite nice. If you unplug the lower handle on each flag you may then attach them to Kachidoki's backpack where the exposed pegs are already in place. So you've got options with these things. Compared to the Arms Change flags, which are pretty dinky, these things are perfect. 1 - DJ Gun (gun mode). Kachidoki's signature weapon/destroyer of Kurokage Troopers. It's like night and day when you compare this release of the gun to those included with the Arms Changes. While it can't functionally transform and the the DJ Scratch Table is (obviously) non-funtional the DJ Gun still succeeds in being a pretty great looking brick of plastic. The paint details are magnificent. I find the hand meant to hold the gun form is a little too relaxed so it's a loose fit. 1 - DJ Gun (Taiken Mode). Taiken mode is the combined form of the DJ Gun and Musou Saber. Sadly, despite how the AC version of this figure included alternate versions of the DJ Gun for combination AND a Musou Saber for said combination, S.H. Figuarts Kachidoki skimps out. Taiken Mode is molded into place permanently. The Musou Saber is not removable meaning Kachidoki also just doesn't come with one at all despite having used a standard Musou Saber in show on several occasions. Taiken Mode is beautifully sculpted and is an appropriately awesome weapon, but losing out on a Musou Saber does kind of suck. In short though Gaim Kachidoki Arms comes with everything it could really need. Aside from one pesky Musou Saber. Final Thoughts Though the show may be over Kamen Rider Gaim figuarts will continue to trickle out for likely the next year or so. Each successive release seems to improve a little in one area or another but honestly nothing has really topped that first Kamen Rider Gaim Orange Arms. But Kachidoki just might have matched it. With excellent details, a top notch paint job, a plethora of accessories, and a wide range of movement for such bulky armor, this figure is all A's in my book. S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Gaim Kachidoki Arms is yet another winner from Tamashii Nations and Bandai of Japan.

But I'll agree that either this, or Gaim Orange Arms, is figure of the year. And since Blade came out last year it wouldn't really count for this year. Chalice I'll give you is quite nice though as is Hibiki. But Orange & Kachidoki, all show favoritism aside, are incredible.

One of the few Gaim SHFs I want, and for good reason. It looks gorgeous.

A beautiful gallery of a beautiful figure. I weep. My favorite design in Gaim and the one figure I didn't manage to pre-order.
Sadly, the secondary market prices have been too insane to allow me to grab it with all the stuff coming out in the next couple of months. |
