Everything is slow right now. Despite the recent Netflix episode set, things don't feel lively or hopeful... and that's why I have a small semblance of hope!
It's just a musing, but I have a nagging suspicion that things are slow and lackluster because the true push and true revelation hasn't been finalized and unveiled yet. Since next year is the 30th Anniversary, there will be something significant to celebrate, but next year isn't this year, so things aren't as hopeful or inspiring any confidence...on the surface anyway. Hasbro might not give any impression or indications that they care, but they aren't outright idiots! The absence of chatter speaks volumes to me, but I don't assume that I don't worry. One of the reasons that MMPR was popular is because it was everywhere and there was a lot of material and promotions and memorabilia besides a toyline and a popular show, and none of that is happening right now. That being said, I look towards Masters of the Universe and He-Man and see how a stagnant franchise has gotten a much needed push toward nostalgia and revivals and new continuities and a major multimedia campaign! If it can happen for He-Man, I have hope that something similar could happen for PR. It won't echo the heyday of MMPR cause that heyday has passed, but it can still get better and bigger than it's been in years. I also wonder if the increased recognition towards tokusatsu in general is somehow making PR appear "old" or "unnecessary". That's why an original installment has possibilities cause you won't know what to expect. We look at a Sentai and start pontificating on a theoretical PR adaptation. If there isn't an original series to scrutinize or analyze, then you won't know what will happen with a new PR season! They don't have to cut more violent scenes or edit footage cause they aren't relying on Sentai footage, so they can do whatever they want and however they want. That's about all I have on this right now. |

My expectations, i hope they get rid from these cartoonish looking Sentais in the last 12 years.

I expect that Hasbro will have some Power Rangers seasons that are reminiscent of their other properties to see how many fans of those properties are ones they can get interested in Power Rangers.
